In hindsight it is, but who thought he was going to be able to put up those numbers? No one on this board. He had one very bad year with us, one average year, and one very good year. He's had injury problems in the past, was awful defensively and on the bases, and is 39 years old. From fans to the media, no one thought that option was reasonable at the time. Last year most everyone here would have rioted if they picked up that option. If there were many who wanted it picked up and thought it would be a good idea, I certainly don't remember them. I'd rather have Burnitz' .281/.345/.487 line with great defense at just less than half the price.
