  1. deal. :thumleft: Right, why would we want our 3rd most productive hitter over the last month plus, to ever play?
  2. I know that. Cedeno was called up on April 20th I believe, when Neifi was still "out of his mind."
  3. Thank you very much! I had the Comcast address, but not WGN's.
  4. Hey guys I don't have much time here, but need some help. Do you have the address to e-mail Len and Bob in the booth during WGN games? It's my girlfriend's birthday today (she's a big Cubs fan too) and I thought I would take a shot at it and see if they would mention it on air. Thanks.
  5. I agree, there's no reason for Cedeno to be on the bench now. When he was initally called up and Neifi was playing out of his mind it was okay, but now it's ridiculous. My point was more that when a player is first called up, it's okay if they don't play every single game. That's especially true when the player at their position is playing well. At Murton's age and this stage in his development, I think it might be more beneficial to him if he gets 4 starts a week rather than playing everyday.
  6. I don't have any problem with this usage. It's a good situation for Murton to get 2/3 starts. Hollandsworth was our 3rd best hitter in June, hitting .360/.372/.547 and he's 8-24 in July with 2 HR, 2 doubles and 2 walks. He's been very good for well over a month now, and we're still trying to get in the playoffs. Plus I think Len said yesterday we face two lefties right after the All-Star break. People think young players are ruined if they don't play every single day. Cedeno said he learned a ton (like going the other way) by just being up here, taking everything in, and watching and taking BP with everyone. Murton isn't going to be damaged if he isn't playing every single day. If he's only getting 2 starts per week that's not good, but if he's getting about 4, that's still a good situation for him.
  7. In the last two games Barrett has 4 walks and a HBP. His OBP is skyrocketing.
  8. Everyone said the same thing last year. Last year they had Carlos Beltran and Jeff Bagwell.
  9. Plus the Nationals lost. I think they're going to fall off fast and the Braves will take the East again. Then it's up to us to catch the Marlins and Nationals/Phillies/Mets for the Wild Card. Houston won't hang.
  10. Well whether you agree with the method or not, we got our runs and now hopefully can ride Kerry to the win. He should be able to get us to the 9th.
  11. But if he gets us to the 9th down a run, what good is that. I'd rather take the chance on tying the game and hope the bullpen has something left. Well we'll have to disagree then. Kerry hasn't had the opportunity to work deep into games very often this year. Toonight he does and he's rolling. Our bullpen has seriously been brutal. Who do you go to in the 7th and 8th? I don't have confidence in anyone to get us through 2 innings in a tight game like this. Their bullpen has had problems and we can get to them like we have this inning. If he continues to work efficiently he could go the distance or at least should get it to Dempster.
  12. In terms of BAA, just a difference of .007 this year. Jerry! In terms of OBPA, a difference of .103 this year and a difference of .040 in slugging.
  13. Have you seen our bullpen lately? Outside of Dempster we can't get anyone out. Wood is pitching very well and is only at 82 pitches, you don't take him out now and leave it to the bullpen for 3 innings. Wood can get us to the 9th.
  14. In fairness Mota has a pretty big lefty/righty split. Plus you want Kerry going at least one more inning so you don't want to pinch hit for him.
  15. Ah, that explains why he's hitting 8th... I agree, I don't like him hitting 8th. But I also like having Hairston and Walker at the top and Barrett's approach has really improved in the middle of the order.
  16. How is that different than the "Dusty is stupid and i know this by watching him on tv" threads? I'm as big of a Corey supporter as anyone, but it's certainly reasonable to think he may be a stubborn player after what we've seen from him on the field and then the quotes that have come from coaches and scouts. It's not like the only people saying it are fans watching on tv, nor is it similar to those who say he's "dumb" because of what they see on tv. Besides if the threads critical of Corey bother you that much, you could probably follow the advice you gave in the Dusty thread and simply not read them.
  17. There's nothing wrong with swinging at the first pitch, if it's a pitch you can hit hard. The most patient hitters in the game will jump at the first pitch if it's something they can drive. If not, they're too predictable and pitchers will just groove a fastball so they start every AB 0-1.
  18. Nevermind UK, for some reason (probably that I had just waken up) I read your initial post as "runs opposite to how I believe an organization should be structured." I was wondering what you disagreed with as far as the Braves organization went. I've read your opinions on organizational structure before and feel much the same way.
  19. He has had some bad luck at times in this stretch and he has hit some hard line drives, but they've been right at someone. Unfortunately, even if he didn't have bad luck he would only be hitting .215 in this stretch rather than .145.
  20. He doesn't need to play EVERY day. If he's playing 2 out of 3 games like this, that's perfectly fine. The season still isn't over and Hollandsworth has been possibly our best hitter for a while now and has been hot since June. He still deserves some playing time. Cedeno isn't exactly crushing the ball either. I would be pleased if he was getting 4 starts per week, he doesn't need to be out there everyday. These guys can learn by not playing everyday when they come up. Obviously it doesn't do them any good if they're only getting 6 AB's a week, but they aren't going to be damaged by not playing every single game.
