  1. I still feel good about the series with Assad and Rae going on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  2. At least the Cardinals dominated the division with a core of Pujols/Edmonds/Rollen/Holliday/Carpenter/Wainwright/Molina etc Brewers are a horsefeathers nuisance.
  3. Amaya since July of 24 has been the superior hitter (829 OPS, 129 wRC+) and should be in the every day lineup vs right handed starters. Kelly’s Frank Schwindel April was an aberration that should be handled accordingly. We have 10 seasons of date to draw from.
  4. The schedule makers really stacked their early April schedule in ****** weather cities compared to the last 3 seasons.
  5. The first half splits from last season predate 2025 going all the way back to July of 24. They’ve been volatile since 2023 and it’s entirely possible the bats go quiet for the first month plus or so and then go on another 2-3 month tear like we’ve seen since 2023 with this core. From July 7th 24-July 6th 25 they went 96-66 with 859 runs scored to 637 allowed. They’re consistently streaky.
  6. I wouldn’t worry. If we’re using first and second half splits as a proxy to predict the Cubs 162 game production for 2026 then Happ. Shaw and Nico posting a 139/130/122 wRC+ in the second half will pick up the slumping bats. We’ll forget all about Cade Horton with Tailons 1.75 second half ERA too.
  7. I love playing around with splits. That 2024 offense was potent with a 110 wRC+ scoring at a 5.1 runs/game clip from july 4th onwards. The “real” 2024 Cubs.
  8. They’ll all get going at some point, the vets anyways, especially when Suzuki comes back. There’s still uncertainty about what we have in Shaw, Ballesteros and PCA to a lesser extent. They still lack a Kyle Tucker so they’ll need solid production from 1-9 to replicate last years success. But not ideal to split a homestand against the nationals and angels.
  9. Why is he still on the market? Is it contract demands or something else?
  10. Either the Falcons front office is structured so uniquely that Cunningham just took the same job with a fancier title or it’s some bull sh!t punishment by the league for stumbling over getting a new stadium deal approved.
  11. 3/5 games with 5 or fewer hits. They’ve looked like horsefeathers when they haven’t faced Miles Mikolas and minor leaguer Ryan Johnson. Ugly start.
  12. I forgot that you can’t double switch a DH. I’m an idiot. This is only a relevant topic if Mo is sent down to Iowa to tweak his swing like Shaw if he struggles, . I don’t think Conforto has any 2008 Jim Edmonds magic in him to worry about splits or really any lefty hitting internal options.
  13. Best case scenario is Shaw has the bat to justify being a starting corner outfielder. If not, I think the payoff is greater if you can trade for a corner outfielder bat with more upside. If there’s injuries to any of our expensive middle infielders they’re horsefeathered anyways in a playoff series. But man do I miss the days when they Contreras, Soler Coghlan and Zobrist would all split time in left field.
