  1. Much better sequencing the last 2 games with 15 runs on only 26 baserunners compared to Saturday and Sunday with only 4 runs on 23 baserunners. Reds are 19-10 with only a +6 run differential and the war of a 13-16 team.
  2. He still has yet to draft anyone in the third round who hasn’t been cut before week 1 of the regular season in year 3. That’s where he’s gone south as a GM more than anything else by drafting zero depth pieces in rounds 3-4, forcing him to spend $20 million on veteran free agent depth pieces on 1 year contracts every offseason. I can forgive him neglecting day 2 defensive lineman, which isn’t entirely true, but he doesn’t have the $ to sign any free agent edge worth an ass cheek because he’s busy spending it on depth. Unless you count touchback Tory Taylor as a success.
  3. They also drafted Turner last year and Zach Pickens. He’ll draft DT just not edge unless it’s Dom-Rob or Booker on day 3. Dexter is considered a day 2 hit for a defensive lineman at too. He’s done lots of stupid horsefeathers but I can’t blame him for any first rounds picks with how the board fell. Right now Ben Johnson is calling the shots so whatever past mistakes he made aren’t as relevant over the last 2 drafts, outside of maybe drafting a couple guys too early. Cunningham is no longer there to hold his hand.
  4. Yeah. There’s been one defensive lineman selected to a pro bowl in rounds 2-3 since 2022 coinciding with NIL. Gervon Dexter is what you’re likely getting from a day 2 lineman if you hit.
  5. They really lucked out playing the Mets and Phillies when they did with 3 combined wins over them the last 14 days with bullpen injuries. Is that 27 runs allowed since Saturday now?
  6. Is it? The Cubs had won 6/9 in LA before Friday outscoring them 56-28 since 2023. They swept both the A’s and Angles at their place last year by combined scores of 35-9 and 19-6. I think the incredible batted ball luck by the offense leveled off and the bullpen injuries were too much to overcome when trying to hold a deficit vs the Dodgers who look like they’ll 3 peat.
  7. What is that, the 6th leadoff hitter to be stranded? horsefeathers this weekend.
  8. Not only that but he traded up for that Georgia Tech tackle, Van something. I think we owe Ryan Poles an apology after bashing him for neglecting the trenches.
  9. No. He was left off the playoff roster in favor of Michael Soroka because they don’t trust him. He’s an excellent bottom of the rotation depth starter and can eat innings, but his inability to miss bats and so so stuff is why he didn’t throw a single pitch last October.
  10. I could see them signing Cam Jordan.
  11. This was exactly why Counsel refused to pitch Assad in the playoffs.
  12. I’m sure Ben Johnson signed off on the players but it’s Poles job to wait on Thomas, who would’ve been available yesterday and Cunningham is no longer here to hold his hand. I have no issue with a BPA approach in a weak class after Jacas was drafted, the problem is that they reached on 2 positions that we needed as badly as a punter. Loveland and Burden were great picks in hindsight and at the time because they were elite talents.
  13. IF you were to combine Owen Cassie and Cam Smiths wRC+, theirs would still be lower than Mo’s.
  14. I’m hoping they grab Zavion Thomas at 166. He should still be available and will make a good returner/speed option as a WR5.
  15. Both involve a stubborn Johnson to be fair.
  16. The time to be pissed off about not drafting a defensive lineman was 15 hours ago.
  17. I wish we had those comp picks. I’m sure there’s a fullback they would’ve grabbed that’s high on their board.
  18. My question is whether they just weren’t excited enough to trade up for any available lineman or Allen wants a lineman with a certain build that’s difficult to find and won’t compromise. Whoever they would’ve taken would’ve likely been a rotational piece anyways but it’s worth asking.
  19. Hopefully 6 coming on a Thomas kick return touchdown thanks to a key block by Roush.
  20. Ballesteros has a 1659 OPS in his last 26 at bats with a 583 batting average, which he lowered from 600 thanks to only going 2-4. He’s been a machine.
  21. What made this particular win satisfying is that our $362 million combined infield free agents Swanson and Bregman were the biggest contributors against the Dodgers of all teams.
  22. It’s doubtful they’ll find any day 3 talent in the trenches that will address anything.
  23. To a degree, although Loveland and Burden you could still make sense of as BPA.
  24. It would make as much sense as these picks.
