  1. Alright Busch. You made what’s potentially an error that cost the cubs the game and your ops is down to 741. Time to do something that matters.
  2. That Busch error is so frustrating. Can’t give away runs like that when the only way you can score is on wild pitches.
  3. Of horsefeathers course a bad error leads to 2 hits in a row and the game tying (and by default, winning run). The bats won’t do horsefeathers tonight.
  4. They sucked after round 1 of 27-13, They’re off to an equally ****** start now in Round 2.
  5. Baseball is weird like that. One day you get humiliated by a mediocre pitcher like Will Warren and the next day you also get humiliated by a good pitcher like Max Fried.
  6. Sure. Their 6.4 rpg average during their latest 27-12 stretch was no more sustainable than their 6.2 runs/game stretch during their previous 27-12 stretch. They followed it with a 16 game stretch of scoring 40 total runs. So which follows, another 16 game stretch with some stabilization to their current 110 game scoring rate, averaging a more modest 5.2 runs/game? Maybe a slight drop off to 4.5? A total faceplant? Their batted ball luck is due for regression so it’s not terribly surprising that they’ve had a rough few games. PCA will be the key. He’s carried this lineup for 2 months. So if he can sustain his 150 wRC+ then we won’t see anywhere near the same degree of regression.
  7. Someone at least as good as Boyd. Shota is fine, but I’d be disappointed if we landed someone with a similar profile.
  8. Not to worry, the Cubs have been shut out by the Yankees in the last 3 series openers. 2 runs in the first 9 innings of their last 3 games since round 2 of 27-12. I’ll go with coincidence for now.
  9. They’ve won 18 of the last 24 on the road with a +58 run differential, they absolutely are playing better on the road lately. They’re only 10-8 at wrigley in that same stretch.
  10. Not even the 27 Yankees could hit will Warren when he’s on his game. Tip of the cap. It’ll get easier tomorrow and Sunday with Cole and Fried.
  11. We get a break with max Freid and Garret Cole once we’re done with this May/Pallante/Warren gauntlet by no later than 4:15.
  12. He’s the cheapest controllable arm that’s still a capable starting pitcher. That’s my read on it from what little I know.
  13. They don’t want to risk injury for when they trade Seiya for Emerson Hancock.
  14. You’d think they’d trade Hartshorn if that’s what it took if Tom gives Jed the green light to offer him a massive extension. With uncertainty over the new CBA you could entice him to stay.. maybe?
  15. I still cringe when I see a 2 strike breaking way off the plate expecting him to chase as a natural reflex from years past. One of the biggest year to year transformations by a player since Bonds hit 73 homers in 2001.
  16. Trading for Skubal shouldn’t be off the table no matter how costly. Happ and Suzuki might not be Cubs next season while Bregman and Swanson will also be a year older. The future is now and wasting this positional core on an incomplete and injured pitching staff seems like a wasted opportunity.
  17. What’s the over under on end of season fWAR, 9?
  18. 8-5 with a +36 run differential is less annoying than 7-6 at +34.
  19. After the Taillon horsefeathers and last night, 7-6 is a really annoying second half record.
  20. It’s illegal for the Cubs to win a game 2-1. Everyone knows that.
  21. People will hate watch the Dodgers like they hate watched the Patriots, Heat, Chiefs, Astros etc. Dynasties are very profitable.
