There weren’t 6 playoff seeds back then, the Sox were 3.5 games out of any playoff spot, both division and wild card. That’s not the case with the Cubs. Trading Boyd right now isn’t something that “needs to be done”. It’s even more amusing after reading the link.

I wasn’t reading close enough. I just saw the word “white flag” and assumed that would lead to the Cubs trading everyone to forfeit their 4th seed for whatever reason, nothing that specific. Never heard of it either.

You must me talking about the Twins trading Joe Ryan or something. Wrong thread. I don’t think trading Ramirez or Rojas is some kind of uncomfortable truth that fans don’t want to hear, if you’re referring to the Peavy trade to the White Flag from Sandiego back in 09 (I’m assuming you meant White Sox?) who cost Clayton Richard and a few other minor leaguers.

Boyd is the only starting pitcher on this staff that I any faith in who projects to be in the rotation.

Pete is his own brand of great. I see a smidge of Carlson’s Beltran with kevin kiermaiers glove and you can toss in a few other players, which makes a ballpark 1:1 comparison impossible. He’s 4th in war since August of 2024 at 12.6 with a 124 wRC+. -
