  1. The return for Taillon would likely be a salary dump similar to Bellinger..
  2. Valdez would be a huge addition. I guess the fact that he’s a d!ck is why he’s still looking for a team?
  3. It’s bleacher report so take it how you want but interesting that they have the Cubs number 2 in their power rankings ahead of the Mets, Yankees and Bluejays with a relative lack of stat talent.
  4. At least they left out Eli.
  5. Now that Bregman is a Cub we can go back to being excited about signing AAAA players who may or may not be any better than Nicky Lopez’s outfield equivalent.. Hopefully we won’t have to find out.
  6. Brady still has a first ballot HOF resume when you remove 01-2014. 2015-22 he’s a 3X champ, 1X MVP and 2X AP2. It’s incredible.
  7. I wonder if his “pro bowl” selection increases the price of his franchise tag that he’ll never see as a Brown. I don’t know if the players union makes a distinction between alternates or not.
  8. The starting 9 is reminiscent of the 2008 lineup. Deep from 1-8 (No DH). No one terrifying but cumulatively effective with better gloves. Jim Edmonds washed off his cardinals stink a bit after homering twice in the fourth inning vs the White Sox for me at least.
  9. I’m just happy the chiefs dynasty is over and there’s finally some fresh blood from the AFC with the Patriots. Boston deserves a championship more than anyone. That long suffering city has been waiting 18 months for a championship since the Celtics won in June of 2024.
  10. It’s not a pressing concern It’s a question of how much contribute as a hitter. It’s a better unknown to have than sticking Morel over at third base to muff routine grounders. I think they’re selling Horton short too. His BABIP luck wasn’t sustainable but I think he clears a 3 fWAR without missing significant time with injuries. More than his 1.7. His stuff is too good not to.
  11. Maye also doesn’t anywhere near the amount of talented play makers that Caleb has. He was a beneficiary of an easy schedule but he played better. It doesn’t mean Caleb won’t catch up but there’s no other way to spin it.
  12. Really Bellestaros is my only question mark heading into the season simply because of his limited sample size. Hopefully in season try outs at DH won’t be a thing. Better unknown to have than third base.. I also don’t expect a 110 wRC+ from the catcher position either.
  13. It’s a weak free agent class for outfielders. Suzuki is the best available in my opinion. If they do end up flipping Shaw then I’d think outfield help makes as much sense as pitching help. Is Alcantara even in the top 100 still?
  14. I’m not saying he’s a realistic option I’m saying he’s the only National that’d make any sense. What is the succession plan for Happ and Suzuki? Is Shaw taking outfield reps for 2027? Extend Suzuki? Hope Conrad mashes in the minors?
  15. I’d rather have Wood if he’s being shopped. Cubs are thin in the outfield once Suzuki and Happ are off the books.
  16. Zach Wilson’s only chance of being decent is signing with the Seahawks. I think it’s just as absurd only he and Tom Brady have won 14 games in a regular on 2 separate teams. Unlike Brady Darnold has done it in consecutive seasons.
  17. Vikings did the whole NFC north a favor by rolling with McCarthy over Darnold.
  18. Better win a superbowl before 2029 when Caleb signs with the Vikings as a free agent to play with kevin o'connell.
  19. Good to see that the Bulls are on pace to meet their 39 win bubble seed exit quota. I’ll check back in when Jerry is no longer in charge. Maybe never if his son Michael is also a dip horsefeathers.
  20. What am I missing here? ZIPS gives Shaw 520 PAs, Bellestaros 586 and Alcantara 473. The plate appearance distribution doesn’t add up. I’d rather keep him for the remainder of the season. You can always trade him next offseason for pitching or even outfield help if Nico is locked up. The Redsox wont be the only team in need of infield help. Terrible free agent class and Happ and Suzuki are off the books and in their 30’s. Unless Shaw is taking reps in preparation as a succession plan for Happ or Suzuki then outfield is another need in addition to pitching and can be moved for multiple needs. A little risky with 1 year less of control and his performance will determine his value of course and there’s no guarantee you’ll find a trade partner who can offer us a position of need. Trading him makes the 2026 team worse no matter how slim, unless the return is someone who can help you now.
  21. There’s no internal succession plan for either Happ or Suzuki unless Alcantara blows everyone away and or Comrade rakes in the minors. Outside of trading Shaw for an outfielder with team control I think Suzuki gets an extension.
  22. Screw it then. Trade him. Adam Fraizer for Shaw is a 1 for 1 and we’ll have a pitcher who’ll help us next year.
  23. If his rookie year defines his career then you absolutely trade him to a sucker who thinks he’s worth a top 50 pitching prospect, who won’t help up this year either and less than Shaw. If you sign Nico to an extension you’re covered. So that leaves them with 2 less bats with team control in Cassie and Shaw. Instead you have a pitcher. Do you project him to be a 93 wRC+ guy for the foreseeable future? What did PCA post in 2024? You have many proven middling commodities vs a guy who projects to be a quality starter. I’m open to trading Shaw but to act like he’s not going to improve as a hitter and he’s interchangeable with career backups would be true if he’s a total bust.
  24. Thanks. I’m guessing they’ll bring back Suzuki unless he truly breaks out beyond anyone’s imagination. DH is the biggest question mark for me at the moment.
