    I was at Shea for that Mets game. I knew the Cubs would lose when they took the lead. That miracle Rockies game was on my birthday. I think there's one more moment of greatness to come. I'm calling a Zambrano no-no during that August Brewers series.

    I traded Alan Embree for Matt Stairs on my fantasy league. This occured a month ago, not in 1997. Stairs went berserk. He was more consistent for me than Michael Cuddyer and Nick Swisher. Stairs was legging out triples and he even stole a base. I wouldn't sign him to a 5 year deal but I'd be ecstatic if he joined the club for the stretch run. You know Griffey will get hurt crashing into the ivy in his first home game. It's inevitable.

    Haha, poor cardinals. I would almost feel bad for them if this wasn't just so hilarious. Walt Jocketty mortgaged the future to win the World Series. I wish Hendry would do the same. The trouble comes when you mortgage the future and miss the championship.

    I wonder Hendry will use that in his contract negotiations. "Zambrano couldn't even get a quality start with a 9 run lead!"

    i like her...she seems like a really nice woman. Yet another reason to root for Kerry to return to full strength. He'll have another mouth to feed soon!

    Here's why I don't mind Sarah Wood talking in the radio booth during the game: 1) She stops mid-sentence when the ball is hit. 2) She related to the Cubs. (Or a Cub). 3) She's raising money for Project 3000.

    You also risk him putting up a .550 OPS black hole. His salary could impact a bigger deal later. I'm praying Kendall has enough left in the tank for four months.

    I'd rather have Felix Pie long term than Hunter Pence. However, I have no problem sending him down and letting Jones play until the trade deadline.

    See, if this was , that would be correct. But, as someone has already pointed out, the marketing and attendance dollars that Ichiro brings in probably make this contract about even for the Mariners, if not a good deal. They have probably made more money off of him over his first 6? years than he will make in salary for his entire career. That being said, I don't know which contract is worse in a strictly baseball sense, Ichiro or Soriano (due to length only)? I'd rather have the Soriano contract than the Ichiro extension.

Even though he has struggled this season, Pie is the future in center for the Cubs. Still, he needs to be returned to Triple-A soon if he's not going to play over Angel Pagan.     I think these Pittsburgh announcers are narcoleptic. I guess I'd be burnt out too after thousands of Pirates innings. It's like we're playing the 2000 Cubs.

    Is anyone really shattered this trade didn't go through? The only difference is that Jones takes up a roster spot instead of a low-A player. Luckily Pie and Pagan are playing well so Jones can pinch run.

    Someone should explain to Hawk that it was like an offsides flag in football. My favorite part is when they showed a freeze frame of Uribe's obstruction. He was silent for several pitches. Just sweet silence.
