See, if this was , that would be correct. But, as someone has already pointed out, the marketing and attendance dollars that Ichiro brings in probably make this contract about even for the Mariners, if not a good deal. They have probably made more money off of him over his first 6? years than he will make in salary for his entire career. That being said, I don't know which contract is worse in a strictly baseball sense, Ichiro or Soriano (due to length only)? I'd rather have the Soriano contract than the Ichiro extension.
