  1. How many games will it take the make the playoffs out of the Central this year? 88? 89? That means the Cubs have to go 43-46 from here on out. I'll take those odds. (Then again, on Tuesday it was 40-49.)
  2. We're down two runs. What's the worst case scenario? We face Troy Percival?
  3. Hinske still in the game. Maybe the ump had some sympathy to his argument.
  4. Hinske almost went all Delmon Young on the umpire. I can't imagine how many former Cubs show up during a Rays/Orioles game.
  5. Kazmir isn't known for being a workhorse. He's certainly better than Victor Zambrano though.
  6. The tats look gullycore. Consider it a preview of Soto in 2018.
  7. Hey, Chase Headley struck out in his first at-bat today. Send him down! That said, Murton looked like Marmol was pitching.
  8. Nick Swisher getting hit by a train was so sad. :( He said "a legit center fielder". Nick Swisher can be called alot of things, but a CFer he is not. Maybe he had Swisher on his fantasy team too.
  9. I thought Hendry signed DeRosa to be a Ryan Freel utility type. I love being wrong.
  10. Does the bolded part concern anyone else?
  11. Thanks for all the great answers. I wish the results were more joyous. I've heard of all these guys except for James Russell. Could someone please give me a comp and his potential upside? Thanks.
  12. Baseball Prospectus had the Cubs taking him in their mock draft. It's a free article that mocks the first 40 picks: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=7615
  13. I love the depth of knowledge that board members have. I haven't seen a top 10 Cubs prospect list for a while. Has there been any massive changes since the start of the season? Who would replace Soto and Gallagher? Here is the preseason top 10 from Baseball America: 1. Josh Vitters, 3b 2. Geovany Soto, c/1b 3. Tyler Colvin, of 4. Jose Ceda, rhp 5. Sean Gallagher, rhp 6. Donald Veal, lhp 7. Josh Donaldson, c 8. Jeff Samardzija, rhp 9. Tony Thomas, 2b 10. Kevin Hart, rhp
  14. This guy needs a cool Korean nickname. I guess Oldboy would be inappropriate.
  15. It would be the third day in a row for both of them, so yes, but that rules them both out for tomorrow. Huh, I would pry only use one today then. Let Cotts face Helton then bring in Howry. Then Wood for the 9th. Use Marmol tomorrow. Good plan or just get the win today? Let's score 5 more and make it a moot point.
  16. My girlfriend thinks the Cubs are peaking too soon. I have no doubt that Lou will keep up the intensity in September. Maybe I shouldn't worry about that until after the All-Star Break.
  17. Blanton is an extreme ground ball pitcher who would be invaluable when the wind is blowing out. I'd try to find a package to keep DeRosa though. I think Cedeno and Fontenot would get exposed playing every day.
  18. Well, the Dodgers lost a close game so your complaints are justified. At least the Cubs benefited.
  19. Torii Hunter>Jim Edmonds defensively. 2008 Pie>2008 Edmonds.
  20. So, did you guys hear that Roberts was available? Hendry should look into that.
  21. How would everyone feel if the Cardinals traded for Roberts tomorrow?
  22. Makes perfect sense. Why waste arguably your most talented, best reliever (Marmol) in a role that most teams could easily fill (closer)? I much rather Marmol be used between the innings 5-8, instead of the ninth, to be honest. Besides, if everything goes to plan a backend of Marmol/Wood will be one NASTY combo at the end of the game. Throw in Howry and an improving Wuertz and this bullpen could be one of the best in the NL. The Cubs should worry about their October lineups if the 2008 Eyre can match his 2007 2nd half. My main worry is about the tail end of the rotation.
  23. I kept Marmol in a keeper league last October because I thought he would be the closer this year. That said, I'd prefer Marmol in the 8th inning of a 3-2 game and Wood as the closer in a 5-2 9th than the opposite. Did that make sense outside of the horrific grammar?
