  1. There's no way an umpire could tell Theriot was out in real time. No way.
  2. That Mike Fontenot T-shirt will go great with with my Hector Villanueva shorts. Seriously though, I wish the Cubs had some Iowa Hawkeyes for a T-shirt.
  3. You should not talk religion in the workplace, ever. Agreed. Potentially divisive subject matter isn't good for the workplace environment. Politics and Religion are big no-no's for me. Politics, religion and money should never be discussed in mixed company. The three things you should not discuss in mixed company are politics, religion, money and sexual conquests... The four...among the things you should not discuss in mixed company... Does that mean Republicans can't campaign anymore?
  4. I'm just curious. What would you give up for an outfielder on the wrong side of 30 hitting under .230 on the season? His OBP is a Corey Patterson-esque .289. My apologies if you were kidding.
  5. Man, am I glad Lohse remembered to suck today.
  6. We'll worry about finding a new identity after winning the World Series. Go Cubs!
  7. My faulty memory remembers the 2004 Cubs bullpen getting savaged in early August. I think the starters didn't get out of the 5th for a few days in a row. The bullpen was never the same after that. Does anyone here remember that more clearly?
  8. Why aren't people doing jumping jacks? It's a seller's market. I'd rather not trade Marmol, Guzman and Gallagher for a Scott Linebrink-level reliever. Our future is intact and our team is solid. There's nothing to stop us from making a waiver deal. It just means that the asking price is even lower. Kudos to Hendry for realizing the smartest moves are the ones you don't make. I'll reserve the knives if do something like trade 3 minor leaguers for Ryan Langerhans this offseason.
  9. 12-8 Solid Wu-Tang signature. I also like the dude with the El-P signature too.
  10. I'm going to give the player of the game award to Carlos Zambrano.
  11. I'm hoping that botched call is a moot point by the end of the game.
  12. The Reds announcing crew showed the video in slow motion. They both agreed it was a home run.
  13. Is it me or is Piniella a lot rounder than he was at the beginning of the season?
  14. http://sayhey.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/homer-simpson-3.jpg I got greedy.
  15. Why isn't Zambrano hitting 8th? I predict a homer.
  16. Lee's wearing padding, right? I'm glad he didn't charge the mound.
  17. The best element in our favor is Belisle's lack of pitching skill.
  18. Branyan is a useful fringe player on a bad offense. Luckily, the Cubs have enough depth not to need his services.
  19. Come on, Kendall! Bring the pitcher up to the plate this inning. No DPs allowed!
  20. From Rotoworld: Astros acquired infielder Ty Wigginton from the Devil Rays for RHP Dan Wheeler. The Astros could have gotten a couple of legitimate prospects for Wheeler, Instead, they moved him for yet another infielder who probably shouldn't be a starter for a contender. Between Adam Everett, Craig Biggio, Morgan Enbserg, Mark Loretta, Mike Lamb, Chris Burke and Eric Bruntlett, they now have seven infielders that can all be useful parts but possess clear deficiencies. The obvious problems with Wigginton are that he doesn't hit righties nearly as well as lefties and he's no asset defensively at second or third. As a part-time player, he can be quite useful, and if the Astros choose to platoon him with free-agent-to-be Mike Lamb next year, they'll get quite a bit of production out of third base. Still, they really should have gone in a different direction. Jul. 28 - 6:52 pm et
  21. I'd rather have Soto than Lofton. We still have until Tuesday to come up with some cogs. I like the Matt Stairs rumor. I also think Murton and Pie can be valuable in August/September callups.
  22. I think Jacque Jones is drinking the same stuff that made Julio Lugo, Corey Patterson and Andruw Jones hot since the All-Star Break.
  23. Go Cubs, go Hawks! Hill is due for another good start.
  24. Do you have a 47 team leauge?!?!? Long story. Technically it's a 20 team league. There are 10 owners and every team gets a minor league squad. There are 520 spots, not counting injured players. You get to keep 20 players each year.
