  1. How about, they are good, but not great. All teams have issues. This is a solid team but that doesn’t mean they can’t struggle. Again, it’s baseball. Good teams still lose 40% of the time.
  2. Exactly. Which is why he keeps guys in if they are only at 75 pitches. He has to pick his spots on the pen for fear of overuse.
  3. Right now 4 innings of Brown. But the playoffs are 4 months away. By then it could very well be Brown, Shota and Cabrera. Hopefully someone else proves worthy.
  4. Me too. That was the ridiculous point of the post. I get the idea of taking him out. I was wondering it too. But I also understand it is a 50/50 call on that decision. It isn’t as cut and dry as he should have taken him out. All things considered I am sure he was hoping to get 5 out of him. Save the pen a bit for the next series.
  5. They took him out after Vargas crushed the ball. He was done. You are just being very irrational right now. He came out because Monty was coming up. Webb is better against lefties and Rea was done.
  6. And, of course, if the pen came in and Vargas hit a 3 run homer against that pitcher, it would have been Craig fault for bringing a relief pitcher in.
  7. Sox are not a rival in the sense of it mattering in the NL. And he was at 70 pitches.
  8. you honestly cannot think he left him in so maybe he gets a win. That is just a bad take. While I agree he could have taken him out earlier, the issue is the pen he has. It’s not good. He is trying to squeeze innings out of the rotation a little. But NOT so a pitcher can get a win.!
  9. Or if Rea goes 6 maybe Tbeilbar comes back for Rolison. Depends on who they like, Blach v Rolison.
  10. I agree. I really hope this off season we end up with Peralta. I would be fine letting both Happ and Seiya walk if they allocate money to a front end starter. Maybe try signing Conforto again and fill the corner spots with maybe another platoon outfield and guys from the system. Hard to criticize him for this year. They did add Cabrera and assumed Horton for a full year. Once Shota took the QO they did have 5 men for the rotation with Assad, Brown, Rea and Wicks as depth. And they had Steele coming back and Wiggins close. How do you figure the injuries they had?
  11. This is true. Also, probably a good reason the Cubs won’t be able to pull off a trade now and most likely it will be close to the deadline. Hopefully Wiggins is pitching well by then. At that time we can worry about overpaying for a quality arm.
  12. I agree they need to get someone and so some good. But to make a blanket statement if “pay it” without any knowledge of what “it” is doesn’t make sense. And right now I am positive the ask is much higher than it will be closer to the TDL. My diagrent with you isn’t in the belief that they need to get an quality arm, it is in the statement “pay it” without knowledge of the price. There is a point where they have to say no.
  13. He can’t be in the pen, so yes, release him or figure out an IL visit, or mystery injury that keeps him out all year.
  14. Nor should he or any GM. And none would pay a ridiculous price except for MAYBE the Dodgers.
  15. True. This is actually a big game for a game in mid May. Win and you go into the Brewers series winning 3 of your last 4. Lose and you go in losing your last 3 series. From mindset alone, this game is big. They also get Miz tomorrow. So really like to take this one and, I don’t know, maybe the Brewers actually lose today…..
  16. When Boyd comes back I think it is a real possibility the Cubs end up releasing Tailon. I think Rea is a better rotation piece and I also think Brown will prove he belongs in the rotation by then. I don’t see Jamo as a bullpen guy. And this isn’t even considering adding a pitcher via trade or Steele coming back. I really think if the Cubs get some health on the staff and also trade for a pitcher, Jamo won’t be with the team come August.
  17. Right now I am sure the Mets are asking crazy prices. Maybe even Shaw and Rojas or more. I can’t agree to say “pay it” without knowing what “it” is. Not saying you, specifically, , but the fans suggesting they pay whatever necessary will be the same ones criticizing the FO for getting rid of young talent for 4 months of a pitcher. I would love to get someone now, but I doubt the selling teams would do so without an absolutely ridiculous offer that couldn’t be refused.
  18. It happens. This one is done. Just a loss. Doesn’t matter is it is 12-0 or 3-2. Get them tomorrow and win the series.
  19. I’m never going to say he is good. He eats innings. That is it. But your comment was he never shows up for big moments. That isn’t true. As you said, he was solid in the playoffs. And he was actually good late last year when games mattered. Suggesting he doesn’t show up for big games and using this game as an example is just wierd to me. A game against the AL is probably the least important games the Cubs play. He isn’t good. He is a BOR starter. And can be replaced if/when the Cubs add a starter.
  20. Yes he does. And it can be argued the Cubs/Sox game isn’t an example of when it matters and more than Cubs/twins. Tailon has, for the most part, been fine. He is a BOR starter. This happens from time to time. But why is this game considered “one that matters” any more than any other game against an AL opponent.
  21. Completely different start with Nico at 2nd. Damn!!!!
  22. Depending on the betting site. It is basically a pick em game. Sox “not exactly”‘favorite, even in this match up. But your point is spot on. Been a long time.
  23. Sound like a Sox hater to me. I think they win 77-83 games and be in the race all year. I, too, am not a fan of theirs, but I do see a decent team there. And AlC sucks. So 83 wins is possible.
