  1. I would have walked Busch too, or pitched around him. If I am the Mets manager I would much rather face Bregman with a force out in play then Nico. Remember, Kingery is after Bregman if they happen to get Bregman out.
  2. Explain it however you want, as a Cubs fan I would much rather see Hoerner up with a man in third then Bregman up with the bases loaded. Which is probably they way I would have done it had I been the Mets manager. Kimbrel may not given you many ground balls, but Bregman does but the ball on the ground. I just know I was very happy and surprised they pitched to Nico, regardless of if you think it was the right play.
  3. I don’t agree. I was saying as Nico came up they had to walk him. If he steals second let him go. Pitch to Busch. Maybe nibble. If you miss then bases loaded for Bregman. If I am the Mets manager I would rather face Bregman than Hoerner.
  4. How do we like Conforto now? How about the Cubs bench?
  5. One very good reason. The game they are playing is baseball. Baseball is stupid. No rhyme or reason to it. It just happens🤷
  6. My guess is Rea stays and Assad goes to the one.
  7. Doesn’t mean they can’t give him an 8 or 9 year deal and buy out a few FA years. Not saying they will do it, but they could. Teams do it all the time.
  8. If he gets a few more starts and does well is he someone they bring up and put in the rotation so that Rea can go back to the pen? I like Rea, so putting him in the pen isn’t because he can’t start. It is to make the pen better.
  9. Is Meyers an opener? Do the Cubs start Mo and run the risk of a lefty pitching most of the game? Maybe they should move Mo up to 2nd. At least they know he gets his first AB against a righty.
  10. Happ made a nice catch at the wall on a ball smoked to left. He gave up some solid contact, and was a bit wild. I think he is fine, but IMO, he didn’t throw great today. He did ok.
  11. The entire central is going to win again today. WTF is going on?
  12. Yes. It is obvious. However many want to just let Mo bat. Plus, he could have went Shaw. I am sure if an out was made there the fanbase would have had a “better” idea.
  13. Yep. I am sure that had Kelly made an out people would have been complaining about pinch hitting for Mo. Glad to see Counsell acknowledged for a good move.
  14. I thought it was a great game to watch. Nothing boring about winning.
  15. Me neither. He did give up some hard contact in his two inning, though. But that inning the usually stellar Cubs defense failed him, hard hit balls ir not.
  16. Defense really let them down this inning. Not said often.
  17. I don’t know how he did it, but Jamo had a great start. He actually hasn’t been bad so far this year. Definitely a BOR starter. Which is fine.
  18. He really is. Painful to watch him right now. Hope he comes around soon.
  19. Me too😅And I am not saying what you suggest can’t happen. It absolutely can. Just really too early to write the guy off.
  20. I don’t this this is true, at all. Sure, we have to wait and it sucks. And it is possible he doesn’t make it back. But, I think it is more likely he does come back and pitch several years in the majors. Maybe have to temper his projections because of injuries affecting him. But he still has, IMO, a better chance of pitching again in the majors then never pitching again.
  21. If he keeps hitting they will find a spot for him. He can always move to the outfield, corner. My guess is one of the corner spots will be filled with a guy currently in the minors, or Shaw.
