  1. Oh, and the pen sucks!!!! So what is Counsell to do for people not to complain? We all know if he pulled Rea after 5 shutout innings and only 70 pitches and the pen came in and blew the game people would be bitching about Counsell.
  2. Counsell took Rea out after he gave up a swinging bunt 45 mph roller to Nico that the runner beat out. There was no walk. Your wrong and just bitching to bitch
  3. He had a shutout through 5. And only 70 ish pitches. How does he take him out?
  4. You absolutely cannot make a better throw then Amaya just made. WOW!
  5. As long as Rea can match him. For today, I would love for the pens to decide this game.
  6. It was pretty close. And by going that gave Swanson a chance to score. I don’t fault him for that.
  7. Well this is a space where people talk sports. Much of it is painful to me. I can point to pages of nonsense talk over the last week or two. So sorry if this is worse than most. But to your point, the crux of my comment is if McCutheon wasn’t cooked the Cubs could find a spot for him. Jason pointed out several stats that appear to back the idea he is cooked, so I have no issue with the Cubs not signing him.
  8. I don’t see anyway Conrad provides anywhere near the value the Cubs would need to trade him.
  9. Based on the data you provided to prove he is cooked, I agree there is no place for him. That said, I never said he would be a good fit if cooked. Only that, if the Cubs thought he still had something in the tank they could find a spot for him.
  10. Shaw for Ramirez and McCutcheon for Alcantara. Why wouldn’t he have a spot? No different than what they have now. I mean, if he is cooked, that is reason enough not to bring him in. But if they think he can help, there is a spot. Also, for the record, I thought as a right handed bat off the bench, if Turner was the 26th man on the team he was fine. The problem was he wasn’t the 26th man. He was the main bench bat. That isn’t ideal. But McCutcheon would be the 26th man. I don’t care one way or another with McCutcheon. If he is cooked, as you say he is, no problem ignoring him. But if they did bring him in he wouldn’t serve the same role they needed Turner to serve.
  11. Tough play. He could have made it. But it would have had to be a very good play. I think no matter who was in right that ball is more likely to be a hit than an out.
  12. Not as exciting, but leaving the park, walking, I was at a stop light with Len Kasper, Darin Jackson and Gordon Beckham.
  13. I agree with this. Not sure someone “has to go”, but I think someone will go to show they are doing something. But Counsell is good until at least the end if next year. And firing him wouldn’t do anything anyway.
  14. At this point that would be the biggest overreaction a team on a pace to win 85-90 games could ever do. Not saying it might not come to that, much closer to the deadline. But there is a lot of baseball to be played before they need to do something this drastic.
  15. I think Swanson will come around too. Difference is, his coming around might amount to hitting maybe .230 and being right around a league average bat, give or take a percentage or two.
  16. I was there Saturday afternoon. Great ballpark.
  17. I’m frustrated too. Believe me. But PCA is fine. He hit 3 balls over 100 MPH today. 2 line drives and one sharp ground ball, all to the first baseman.
  18. I am not disputing your opinion the FO drafted poorly. I have no issue with your opinion. I am only speaking of your critique of Conrad. If you are basing your opinion on him based on highlights you saw of him, I thought maybe you had a baseball background. I would think that would be very hard to do otherwise. As I said, when the Cubs drafted him there were several scouts who had indicated he was trending to be a top 10 pick until he got hurt. I would think, strictly on what I read, that would indicate he was a + hitter.
  19. First, they haven’t lost 5 more yet. Secondly, they still aren’t firing him. He has lost his 4 top starting pitchers and lost a lot of pen guys too. Is that his fault? Not going to debate this to decide whose fault this is, but I will say again, they are not firing Counsell. Maybe the hitting coach? Maybe no one. Maybe they win 5 of the next 7 and move on. Regardless I don’t see Counsell going anywhere.
  20. PCA has a WAR of 2.0, 1/3 of the way through the season. He is 27th in baseball at this point. Besides that they are basically paying him what he would get in arbitration yearly. His contract is fine. I know they suck now and everyone is frustrated. But something like commenting on PCA’s contract is just bitching to bitch.
  21. They are not firing Counsel. Please stop the nonsense. Don’t feed it.
  22. Are you a scout? Maybe a college coach or someone who had a career in baseball? I watch a lot off baseball and played it long ago. But I can’t breakdown a players swing or even pretend to know a guys ability just by looking at his highlights. No disrespect, but my guess is you can’t either. Besides that, if Conrad had an Ian Happ career that would be considered a solid pick in the draft.
  23. I’m not sure the Conrad comment is true. I thought prior to the injury last year he was absolutely a top 10 pick. Is it possible to be a top 10 pick and not have a + hitter profile? Maybe someone who is more versed on last years draft can answer this.
