    I didn’t quote you. I agree with what you did. Chibear suggested the Cubs have to win AT LEAST 10 of the last 15 games or they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs. They will hold off both of those teams and might even beat out the Phillies. They do need to get some order to the pen however. And they don’t need 10 wins in their last 15 to make it.

    Wait. If they don’t win at least 10 of the 15 games they play against the Marlins, Braves, Pirates, Red Sox and Reds they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs? They don’t need to win 10 of those 15 to hold off one of the Padres or the Dbacks. They actually play other. So whatever the magic number is now, you can cut it by 2. One of those teams has to lose at least 2 more games.

    I disagree. It is just something people love to say when a hitter doesn’t execute. “He struck out because he was trying to hit a homer”. I agree Nico is swinging with more authority. I don’t view that as a bad thing. Why was it more likely Chourio would swing and weakly hit a ball thru the hole at second than Nico would swing and hit a hard grounder right to the 3rd baseman. If it went thru the hole would you have said he was swinging too hard? Also, Nico is hitting around .330 with OPS close to .800 since the all star break. I am fine with him hitting thr ball harder.

    I agree with the part about the pen, but do you really believe the Brewers are better at situational hitting based thr assumption the Cubs are always swinging for homers? Both Hoerner and Chourio ground balls with a guy on 2nd and 3rd. Hoerner’s went right to an infielder and Chourio’s bounced thru the infield. So that means Nico was trying to homer and Chourio was guiding the ball into an unoccupied area with precise skill?

    I agree with this. It was right to leave Boyd in. It is on Boyd not to walk the 8th place hitter and give up a double to the 9th place hitter.

    Way too easy to criticize a manager after something doesn’t work. See how well the pen did when Boyd came out? Boyd shiiukd have stayed in to pitch the 8th. Things just didn’t work for him.

    And then Zepherjohn starts the 8th, blows the game and people rip CC for taking Boyd out after 7 with 88 pitches.

    This. I was actually surprised the infield was in. I had just commented on how he had to have the infield back so a ground ball a infielder could get to if he is back doesn’t go thru. I assumed he was going to trade an out for a run there.

    This is a statement after something bad happened. Why wasn’t Boyd crisp? He walked a guy? Just an example of after something goes wrong people suggest something should have been done differently.

    He was at 88 pitches thru 7. And the pen is bad. No issue with him riding Boyd in the 8th. Unfortunately it didn’t work.

    I understand you saying this, 100%. I would expect this from you. You are the fanbase who doesn’t like swagger. But baseball isn’t geared to your way of viewing the game. It is for people younger who like that stuff. I am not suggesting you are wrong in your opinion. It is your opinion, and I respect it. But I don’t think most younger people care if a guy pimps a bit or shows swagger. A hard core team of a rival team wouldn’t like PCA, I get that. But today there are a lot more fans of the game, not necessarily one team. Those people should love PCA.

    Yep. And not only that, but he needs to get guys right. He can’t shy away from Zepherjohn because of a bad start to his Cubs career. He needs him. He will probably use Palencia soon,, in a high leverage situation again. And, because he needs him to be right too. Cubs are in the playoffs. I want to go in with him having a plan for his pen. In order to do that, he needs to challenge guys and see who come out on top. Hopefully the ones with the highest ceiling are near that ceiling come playoffs.

    Absolutely what he is doing and what he should be doing. Have to find a few he can count on. I agree with you, hope he find what works.

    Also, kind of like keeping everyone in order of the rotation. Cubs aren’t moving pitchers around to try beating the brewers. They are letting the rotation runs it course. I do think Assad was slotted in so Shota misses Milwaukee. That was the change made. No other change is necessary. The question is, will they run a 6 man staff going forward? I wouldn’t think they would this time. With the off day Thursday, Holmes should be good to go on Saturday after a 5 day rest. All pitchers will be in a 5 day rest. I am pretty sure, whatever they do will have them lined up with who they want going in the first playoff series. Any decisions they make will be based in that, not so they have maybe a 5% better chance to win the game in the regular season.

    Well they are playing in Miami where they are 42-28. I would say that is very good. So I guess you are right. They aren’t good, they are very good.

    I think the last spot will be Peterson, than Imanaga on Friday. ESPN doesn’t even list Holmes until Friday. That is not possible. Unless he is hurt🤷 I think they just forgot Holmes. I think Milw will be Boyd or Holmes, then Peterson, Gausman. Whoever goes tomorrow between Boyd and Holmes, the other guy will go Monday.

    I am very happy to have been concerned over nothing with Shota. He pitched very well yesterday. But, I was right about a Shota to Civale plan by Craig. I like that plan and hope they do it again when he faces the Pirates next Friday.

    Actually it is last 17 PA. He is hitless in 13 AB over that time with 4 walks added. He is struggling a little, but is taking some walks. It is just baseball being baseball. Guys hit and they they stop hitting. He will hit again. Hopefully starting today.

    I’m not. I even said “maybe not you specifically”. I only quoted you because of your comment on the Phillies rotation. I wasn’t going to look back at other posts suggesting how much better the Phillies were because of those pitchers. Anyone reading posts knows it is brought up often.

    Of course. I think no matter who the competition you would rather play at home. But both the Cubs and Phillies have similar records home or on the road. Rather be home, but they can beat them in Phillie if they have to play them on the road.

    Well actually you did say you would like to avoid that trio. My point is, they hit 2 of those 3 guys pretty well and the other they didn’t face. But the other has been struggling as much as guys like Imanaga and Boyd, the month of August. And we see how much Cubs fans trust those guys. Maybe not you specifically, but several posters have suggested the Cubs can’t beat the Phillies because of their rotation. Never mind we hit their main guys. Never mind our offense and defense is far superior to the Phillies. They have 3 studs at the front of the rotation the Cubs can’t touch. So Cubs can’t compete.

    Ok, my bad. That said, if they didn’t like the medicals they shouldn’t make the deal. Maybe the Phillies have a better medical staff to keep things in check. Considering all the pitchers that have done down for the Cubs, that is a real possibility.
