  1. WOW, I am honestly shocked at people having so much to say and so many opinions of announcers I hardly notice them. At least not enough to care who is announcing. This topic comes up every year and every year I am amazed by it.
  2. They need to be very careful with the hamstring. Don’t want him favoring it and hurting something else. I agree if they think he is fine after 3 weeks they should give him another week.!just be very careful with it. They should be ok without him for a month.
  3. A lot of comments regarding Tucker being willing to talk during the season. Might be a nothing burger, but when it is brought up often and my different people, that is encouraging. Hopefully they can get both Tucker and PCA signed. That would definitely chance the opinion of the ownership of this team.
  4. I am also confused about what some are calling good news. It is standard to put a pitcher in the 15 day IL when he gets hurt. Doesn’t mean he is back in 15 days. Just means he isn’t in the 60 day, which would have been very bad news. This is just standard procedure. If we are lucky he will be back the first week in June. I don’t expect earlier.
  5. I think Horton has to come up, right? Maybe today they will bring up a pen arm, since Horton doesn’t really have to be used until after the Mets series. With an off day Thursday they can go without a 5th starter until the following week. But when the do have to use a starter aside from the 4 they have in the rotation now, it better be Horton. 🤞
  6. I don’t wa t to see Flexin either. But it seems they might go that way. I agree it should be Horton.
  7. Cardinals also had a great year. Won over 100 games. I think the long losing streak put pressure on the Cubs to bring back Sutcliffe too soon. But I don’t think it would have mattered. The Cardinals were the better team that year. I think the Cubs can survive Imanaga missing 6-7 starts. I think they are clear favorites in the division and even without Imanaga for 4-6 weeks they should be fine. Especially considering the schedule they will finally be getting into. This is not the 85 team and the Reds are not the 85 Cardinals. I wouldn’t panic and overpay for a starting pitcher. Either go with Flexin, or a much better option, bring up Horton.
  8. I remember that year. Sutcliffe went down as did Ruthven and Sanderson, I think. All within a few days. They went from 34-19 to 34-32 because of a 13 game losing streak. I might not have this exact. But I think I am pretty close. The biggest problem with the Sutcliffe injuries came back too fast. I think it was only 3 weeks. So when he came back he ended up hurting his arm because he was pitching differently to favor his hamstring.
  9. Cubs didn’t score a run. Kind of hard to suggest the bullpen blew the game. Merryweather was bad today, but he also came into a tough spot. I think not scoring had a much greater impact on them losing.
  10. With the 3rd lowest batting average against for a career, he owns everyone.
  11. Yep, 2 of 3 from each central team on the road is good. But I felt better with the Pirates seeies win than I do with this one. I like winning that last game.
  12. I think he is going to miss a lot more than the Mets. But if, somehow, it is only cramps again, why skip him? He will get an extra day because the Cubs are off on Thursday. But honestly, I doubt it is just cramps. I think he will be out a bit.
  13. And it was a perfect pitch for a catcher to throw. Ball was up and fast to him. Easy to be quick with that throw. And he made a great throw. Still the right call to send Pete. Everything had to go well for the Brewers to get him.
  14. Hope Imanaga gets the same strike zone Peralta had.
  15. I think Taillon has been pretty solid after the first few months when they signed him. He has had a few bad starts, but for the most part pitched to above his contract. He is a fine MOR starter. But MOR starters are going to have a bad start every so often.
  16. I don’t mind the trade back at all. They may have still ended up with the DT and OT they took if they stayed at 41 and 72. It sounds like they really like the A&M tackle. Either way, maybe a different OT guy and DL line, but similar. Even when they moved back to 132, from 109, had they gone with either Kansas, Kansas St, SMU, Oregon or even Miami RB here and then drafted Maryland LB in rd 7 I would have liked the draft a lot better. But maybe they like the Rutgers guy and maybe he ends up better than all the guys who did have 3rd or 4th round grades on them who were available when 132 came up. I also like they got a 4th next year.
  17. To be fair, the pens era is really hit hard by 3 innings. 3 terrible innings. Without those innings the pens era era is under 3. And in 2 of the games with the awful innings, the Cubs came back and won the game anyway. And in those 2 games of Workman makes a play that should be made, they give up a lot less runs. In reality the pen hasn’t been that bad and in fact, good, but for 3 major blow up innings.
  18. Wasn’t how I would have thought they would win 2 or 3, but I will take it. Love to do that again this weekend.
  19. It’s like I write this myself. Nicely done.
  20. The Athletic has the Bears ranked 19 in the draft class. That is probably fair. My issue is after the first 2 picks I think the Bears were probably top 3. Which means they failed badly after the top 2. They are 19th due to strength of the first 2 picks. I think the corner was best value after the first 2 picks, both second round picks were meh, the LB and MSU OL picks were bad (probably not drafted if not for the Bears)and I guess the RB was good value. But he isn’t a guy to split time with Swift. If he was they wouldn’t be talking about Chubb and Hall.
  21. At what cost? Is he a free agent or do they have to trade for him? How does he fit in the Bears payroll? He would be a good get, but I am not sure he is worth the cost in salary and draft capital if they have to trade for him.
  22. He has done that all year late in a game with a lefty pitching, so that didn’t surprise me. I don’t like it, but he does it. I am very surprised he stayed with Berti when he could have brought in Amaya on that last AB. Just a very frustrating loss so we will find anything he did to complain about. But I would have done Amaya in the 9th. Has he done something to extend the game Lopez or Brujan could have handled 3rd.
