  1. And the latest in the Terrell Owens-Bill Parcells "Fight For Power" in Dallas has another twist. I, for one, don't believe a word of this.[/url]
  2. Was there a memo I didn't get (insert Office Space jokes here) about not participating in the game threads until after the 6th inning?
  3. His percentage is now low enough that his stolen base attempts hurt the team. Just curious, what is the percentage. I'm not doubting you, I would just like to know. I've got him at 72.1% now. Thanks for the info.
  4. Why? We'll reach 5 pages before the end of the game :D Not likely in Premium.
  5. This game thread is almost as pathetic as the Cubs season has been.
  6. It wouldn't matter what prospect we got in return. Getting rid of Gopher Ball and his contract is all that matters.
  7. Money still talks in this game. We would have to overpay. If the Muts offered 14/season the Cubs would have to offer 16-17/season. What other choice do the Cubs have at this point? Hendry has put the Cubs in this position. Now going into 2007 the Cubs have a gaping whole in that rotation. I would rather overpay with $$$$ than prospects(see the Juan Pierre trade) Actually, you'd only have to offer another penny... If memory serves me correctly, in an open bidding war... no Boras client has ever signed with the team that offered less money. That's what I was going to say as well. Zito will go to the team that offers him the most money. I don't think the Cubs will offer him the most money.
  8. It's not like the Cards never did the same thing to us. 2002 game on ESPN
  9. His percentage is now low enough that his stolen base attempts hurt the team. Just curious, what is the percentage. I'm not doubting you, I would just like to know.
  10. I didn't see the play, but if the centerfielder can get to the ball and calls off the other defenders, the secondbaseman has to get out of the way, no matter how adamantly he is calling for it. it's not a question of who is more talented. it's a matter of protocol to prevent just such occurrences. Well from what I saw...Utley was clearing making a call for the ball..I didn't even see Rowand make a call..it appeared he was even backing off..but at the split second charged in again. Generally the player coming in is going to have an easier time making a play on the ball than the player coming out. IMO Utley should have backed off.
  11. Is this some sort of hazing by the Cubs to get the young pitchers acclimated to going on the DL at the ML level? Marshall, Marmol, and now O'Malley have all been put on the DL this year. How long will it be before Hill, Mateo, and Ryu make appearances as well? I think the Cubs can get all three on the 15 day DL by the end of the year.
  12. "Alright, I'll tell you the truth. I'm not gay. My name's Buck Naked, I'm a porno actor."
  13. Now we know a reason why he turned down the 4/48 offered to him.
  14. That was an amazing catch. Dallas' offense looked very good and when Bledsoe was the QB. I wasn't able to watch the second half (went out to dinner) so I'm not saying Romo didn't look good. But Bledsoe was on last night.
  15. This was expected.
  16. As I updated in the ARam poll, he's currently at a .905 OPS on the year.
  17. Yeah considering Weaver, Wilson, Choi, Pollite, and many others were DFA'd. I mean I understand Hendry doesn't want to admit he made a bad investment but it's time to own up and cut the guy. He had one career year and the Glendon Rusch we are seeing today is the real Glendon Rusch. Don't forget Sidney Ponson was DFA not once but twice this year.
  18. I actually had a conversation about this with my dad today and he brought up a statement that was made but didn't remember who made it: "It's the Hall of Fame not the Hall of Very Good." Palmeiro was very good at his position for a number of years and benefited from playing a long time and staying healthy. But he was never known as the best player at his position in the game at any time during his career and was often overlooked. He would have been elected to the HOF if he didn't test positive but because he did, as you said, he probably won't get in. McGwire has the benefit of breaking Maris' record and being known as one of the most feared hitters in the game when he was healthy. I think he will ultimately get in but it will probably take a few years.
