  1. Wow. Only the Cubs can routinely pull something like this off.
  2. But look at those stolen base totals. They TOTALLY make up for all of his shortcomings.
  3. .905 OPS after Monday's game.
  4. Texas is returning 16 starters this year and, while they do lose Vince Young, they do have a very good team this year. With Bomar getting kicked out of Oklahoma there isn't much competition in the Big 12 for Texas this year. Their only real tough game is against Ohio State and that will be at home. If they win that game, they very easily could run the table and find themselves in the BCS Title game. Even if they do lose to Ohio State, they should still finish with just 1 loss and win the Big 12 again. The Texas defense and running game and recievers will all be better this year. If Vince Young was back, they would be a unanimous #1 team in the nation and one of the biggest preseason favorites ever. Vince Young was one of the greatest "winners" in college sports history, and you don't just replace that very easily. I think you are going to see a lot of similarites betwen Colt McCoy and Major Applewhite, the only thing is he has a true freshman who could very easily be starting over him. I think it is very possible that QB is not much of a question for Texas. Should that be the case, their is no reason Texas will not be defending its National Championship. The only thing I worry about for Texas is the game against Ohio State is early in the season so neither quarterback will be tested in real game situations at the college level. Not only that but Texas will have a different offense this year because they tailored that offense to Vince Young's abilities. If it was later in the season and the quarterbacks had a little more experience then I might change my tune. I think Ohio State will pull it out but it should be a close, entertaining game and I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas emerge victorious. I will say that I believe the winner of the Ohio State-Texas game will be playing in the National Championship game on January 8.
  5. It's not really a Neifi moment per se, but didn't Todd Walker go to the locker room to get a new jersey during a game this year and accidentally put on one of Neifi's jerseys?
  6. Yeah. I will be extremely disappointed if ARam leaves. Hendry needs to do whatever it takes to resign him.
  7. I call him Gopher Ball.
  8. Only if the Cubs are allowed to play St. Louis every day for the rest of the year.
  9. With 2 more strikeouts today, Dunn now has 146 on the year and is now on pace for 191. A little behind the record pace but I will not lose faith in him.
  10. And the Captain Obvious Award goes to... Brad! "Look at the big brain on Brad." This was in no way meant to offend or attack, rather to simply quote a great movie.
  11. Can you start a thread on Glendon Rusch please? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v511/freejju/tigerglendon.jpg Seconded.
  12. Which is offset in your scenario by 130+ games of Blanco. Wells isn't that much better than Barrett, and especially when you consider the difference in what they'll be paid. Agreed. Keep Barrett and use the money saved to upgrade another position.
  13. I was overjoyed when I heard the news and pinched myself to make sure it was actually real.
  14. A couple years ago Man U was the Yankees but not anymore because Chelsea has inherited that title in the last couple years.
  15. How can Ou still be ranked that high? Bad ass defense, best running back in the nation and a stable of talented receivers? Look, Bomar had talent, and surely would have had a nice season, but last year he only tossed 10 TDs to go with his 10 picks. And we still beat Oregon in the Holiday bowl, and without that phantom loss in Texas Tech, we would have been 9-3. All that with the toughest schedule in the nation. If it were up to me, OU would be between 15-20 in the polls, but you know how pollsters do. There isn't a legit number one team in the nation at this stage of the year, so the polls are going to be kind of wonky for awhile. Last year or this year? I don't think it matters because they play in the Big 12 which doesn't have much after Texas and OU anyway.
  16. The Yankees were willing to take Cory Lidle from the Phillies as well. And the Cubs couldn't use Cory Lidle? I didn't say that the Cubs couldn't use Cory Lidle. I was just saying that the Yankees were willing to take Lidle as well and that helped the trade go through. That and Abreu was willing to waive his no trade clause for the Yankees - something I don't think he would have for the Cubs.
  17. I never get tired of seeing this picture.
  18. As I said in the other thread, there is no harm at all in giving O'Malley a few starts at the Major League level to give him a shot to show what he can do. The Cubs aren't doing anything this year and they need to see what they have for next year. By giving him a few starts they can find out if he will be in the plans for next year or not.
  19. Beckett allowed 16 baserunners in 5 2/3 IP which is ridiculous and the Yankees had 23 baserunners total today.
  20. The Yankees were willing to take Cory Lidle from the Phillies as well.
  21. I hope Dusty doesn't ruin Z.
  22. Sounds like Bobby Abreu with a lot of 2B and walks but with a lack of HR power. Definately wouldn't mind having him in the outfield.
