  1. I'm surprised nobody quoted this just to show the picture again. I guess I'll have to do it.
  2. My name is Rachel Phelps, not Jeff Loria! http://www.fast-rewind.com/soms1.jpg she was trying to get the team moved to miami though further proof that girls should be kept out of baseball ;) Marge disagrees. Oh. My. Lord. I shuddered when I saw that picture. I'm going to have nightmares for a long time because of that face.
  3. 1. Santana 2. Halladay 3. Verlander
  4. Buy the first WS and build the farm after. I just want one.
  5. Starting in 2001 (Pierre's first full season) he has ranked 1st, T-10th, 2nd, 1st, 2nd in the majors in CS and is 1st this year.
  6. While, I can't argue with the Cubs being the biggest disappointment in baseball, I have to go with Cleveland as baseball's biggest disappointment, and here's why: Their talent level, is much higher then the Cubs (eveyrbody knew before the season, Hendry buiilt a 4th/5th place team), at a lower cost. They were predicted by most pundits to be the serious threat to the White Sox, not the Tigers or the Twins, and the Indians failed miserably. So, I will say the Indians have been a bigger disappointment. Agreed for the same reasons you stated. I would put the Indians first and the Cubs second on the list of biggest disappointments.
  7. Kerry Wood has started games for the Cubs. HAHAHA. That's a good one.
  8. Angel Pagan = Carlos Beltran Jr. of course.
  9. I have not read the Neyer/James book but I do agree with you and was not implying that the Cy Predictor is completely accurate. I do not think relievers should win the Cy at all. I was just saying that Z and Webb are much closer now than they were a month ago. I still have Webb first and Z second.
  10. Anybody find it odd that Dye is having a season that absolutely pales every single other season he's had? His numbers are so much better this season that it's ridiculous. I'm thinking 1996 Brady Anderson ridiculous. I'm not saying he's juicing, but you have to wonder..... That is the single dumbest thing I have ever read, EVER. Brady Anderson (in the four full seasons prior to 1996) averaged around 15 HR a year. He then hit 50. Jermaine has average 27 in his full seasons, and will most likely finish around 45. That's not that big of a disparity. I love how loosely everyone throws around accusations of steroids. I remember someone on the board making a comment about Prior, just because of his poor luck with injuries. Absolutely dreadful. Agreed and this is in response to chucky. If by 'steroids' you mean 'batting in a lineup with Paul Konerko and Jim Thome', then yes it has to be steroids.
  11. I resemble that remark. :? Yeah, but what's his excuse? You had a beautiful woman serving you drinks...totally justified! He takes a shot every time Bonnie Bernstein talks about Albert Pujols.
  12. If you play with Juan Pierre, you too can learn how to routinely ground out to second base. Just look at the results.
  13. Have the players been asked about this situation?
  14. He throws right-handed and bats left-handed.
  15. What are they when facing an opponent with a dumber manager than Dusty? 0-0.
  16. I second that notion. Novoa gives me a painful feeling in my stomach. http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/5764.jpg
  17. I didn't feel like reading the whole thread so I apologize if I say something that somebody else already said. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't a knock on the Cubs a few years ago that even though the were near the top of the league in HR's hit, they hit too many solo HR's and were subsequently not near the top of the league in runs scored? Just checked: 2005: 7th in HR's and 20th in R in the ML, 2nd and 9th in the NL 2004: 3rd in HR's and 16th in R in the ML, 1st and 7th in the NL 2003: 14th in HR's and 20th in R in the ML, 8th and 9th in the NL 2002: 5th in HR's and 22nd in R in the ML, 1st and 11th in the NL
  18. More late inning heroics against the Cards on ESPN coming up? Let's hope so. EDIT: Too bad Izzy supposedly isn't available tonight.
  19. ESPN Cy Predictor now has Wagner easily ahead of Webb and Z.
  20. I still maintain that a player on a team that isn't even in playoff contention should not win the award. I will also say that I didn't know that Dye had a higher OPS than Thome this year. My list is: Ramirez Jeter Dye Ortiz Hafner But with the Red Sox in a huge downfall, this could change.
  21. That game still hurts; I remember it very well. Another 6-run lead game that's still painful (I was at the game, surrounded by obnoxious Cardinal fans): http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07200CHN2004.htm That game killed me. I left for work when the score was 7-2. When I got there and saw that the Cardinals took the lead, I pushed a huge stack of papers off a desk in anger. My coworkers (all Red Sox fans) looked at me like I was nuts. After that I was known as "Angry Cub fan", as I remain to this day. Haha. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well mood-wise (personal problem) and my coworkers noticed. The other bartender (a woman) asked me "What's wrong? Are you having girl problems...or did the Cubs lose today?" That actually made me laugh.
