If the Cubs lose today, they will have the worst record in the National League.

That's part of the reason I don't think they will do very well. I think, at best, the Raiders will go 1-5 in the division. They also play at Baltimore, at Seattle, at Cincinnati, vs Pittsburgh, and vs Arizona. If they go even 2-3 in that stretch that puts them at 3-8 at best on the year.

Wow. Miami and FSU combined for 3 rushing yards on 51 attempts in the game and just 310 total yards.

Florida wasnt the powerhouse they were until he got there and installed that offense. He can coach, recruit and stay out of trouble. Hell even Lou Holtz had a really good season and Spurrier is twice the coach he is. Speaking of Lou Holtz he is a complete ass on television. He constantly belittles Mark May and dribbles all over himself when he talks. Mark May needs to pile drive that POS into the newsdesk. Trev Alberts was in self love with himself but he at least made me laugh. I think its fair to say that our history is not the envy of college football. But how anyone can definitively say that Spurrier can't win the conference at USC is ridiculous. He's already recruiting well and has assembled a top notch coaching staff. He just donated $250,000 to our athletic department and he is pushing for the donations to improve our facilities. As for Corso in general, he's a pot-stirrer. That's it. If the guy really knew what he was talking about he might still be coaching. Lou Holtz is thoroughly unwatchable, just like our team under his direction in his last two seasons. Frankly, I was stunned when Corso said that. I thought Holtz was the only person who'd say idiotic stuff. When my friend and I heard Corso say that we were both shocked. It would be one thing to say that Spurrier wouldn't win a National Championship at South Carolina but it's insane to think that he won't win an SEC conference title at South Carolina.

Boston team ERA by month: April: 4.67 May: 4.62 June: 4.46 July: 4.60 August: 5.81 Varitek last played on July 31. I think it's been proven that Varitek meant more to that pitching staff than anything else. He was probably overpaid a bit for that batting line but if you lower your team's ERA by over a run as a catcher, you're worth a decent amount of money.

I will be pulling for the A's. Hopefully they will get the Tigers in the Division Series as opposed to the Yankees or White Sox/Twins.

It really should have been a 30 point win, too. VY overthrew 3 easy TD's, the Titans missed a FG, missed an easy chip-shot FG attempt at the end of the half becausew Kerry Collins screwed up clock management, and fumbled inside the ten. All those things mean the Titans suck, but to do that and win by 14 (even though it's preseason) what does that say about GB? Favre only threw 1 pass (for 89 yards), and both GB corners were out, but a sad display nonetheless. The top 5 picks will probably include the Jets, Titans, Texans, Bills, and either the Packers or Lions. Excellent point, and I agree with your top 5, but I think both the Jets and Titans are worse than the Pack simply because GB still has Favre. Yes, I know he's old and likely washed up, but he still is good enough to find a way to pull out 5 wins or so, more than I think the Titans and Jets will get. When it comes down to it though, all these teams suck pretty bad. I hate to say it but this is East Coast Bias all the way here. Both Bay Area teams have good shots of getting a top 5 pick in the draft. The Niners have a better shot than the Raiders but I wouldn't discount Aaron Brooks helping the Raiders get a top 5 pick.

Who's going to get hurt next for the Red Sox? Schilling? Beckett? I mean, it can't get much worse now can it? Well, if they lose Schilling or Beckett, then they can be entered into the discussion with the Cubs of which team has been most injury-prone. It continues. Schilling was scratched this morning from his Monday start against the White Sox. He has a mild strain in his right side which apparently occured while warming up for his last start at Oakland. I didn't believe you until I looked up the Red Sox MLB site and Julian Tavarez will be starting in place of Schilling on Monday. In other news, the city of Boston has recorded record suicide rates over the past 3 weeks.

UC Davis started off the season well with a 38-7 demolishing of Northern Colorado even with their top wide receiver recording no catches on the day due to a minor ankle sprain. Held UNC to 32 yards rushing for the game as well. Bring on TCU!! We're gonna take down the Horned Frogs.

I don't see any of those downgrades you talked about. And UCLA lost their entire offense from last year, there is no way ND loses to them. So you really think Darius Walker = LenDale White + Reggie Bush? Because that is just ludicrous. I would also give 2005 USC an advantage at WR if you factor in Reggie Bush lining up there 10-15 times a game. Quinn would be a slight downgrade because he doesn't have a Heisman like Leinart did going into last year.

Well, based on the fact that the team has had 36 straight winning seasons in football, I would guess at least 6-5. After that I'm not really sure. We will have a new stadium for next year. It was supposed to be ready for this year but the university came up with some BS excuses and it won't be completed until the beginning of 2007. I think it will start off with 15000ish seats and has the potential to be expanded to 30000. where? Southwest corner of the Hutchison and LaRue intersection. Can I change my vote? I put 2 but then I read Truffle's "pick em leagues don't count' stipulation which means I'm not in any. I'm not big into fantasy sports leagues.

The Raiders are ranked 25th, which seems about right.
