  1. This is what I'm interested in seeing: how Hill responds to a rough outing.
  2. Griese will be the starter before they play Miami in Week 9 on November 5.
  3. http://www.youtubex.com/ Just copy and paste the URL from the video you want and it saves to your computer. Thank you.
  4. "How's that blood pressure doing Ronny?" "It's good. Very good." "Goodbye Houston, hello Atlanta."
  5. These are hairs that don't need to be split. .325 is just as crappy as .320, and Pierre has been right around there for the past 1.5 seasons. He has a .350+ OBP in each June, July, and August. In 2005 he only had one month with a .350+ OBP. If he finishes August with a .350+ OBP and does the same in September, he could end the year with close to a .340 OBP. It's not great, but it's much better than April and May.
  6. Wow, how do you miss that? The pitcher and catcher pulled a Chuck Knoblauch though. An extra run scored while they were arguing that call.
  7. Even though Pierre currently has a .325 OBP this year and has never had a year with an OBP less than .320?
  8. How he's hitting recently should not matter. But for what it's worth, he's hitting .261/.320/.304 over the past 7 days. Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant he has recovered from his horrendous April and May. He has put up decent numbers (but not great) since then and I believe teams (this will likely include Hendry) will look at his, as of now, decent 2.5 months more than his poor two months and will think he had trouble adjusting to Chicago or some other BS like that. If he continues his line of .300/.350/.400 (averages) all the way through August and September, he'll easily garner $7-8 mil per year in free agency.
  9. Boy, wouldn't it be a kick in the teeth if the Cubs gave Pierre a Furcal-like contract? I wouldn't put it past Hendry to throw that type of money in Pierre's direction. I think the whole impetus behind Hendry's desire to re-sign Pierre is to justify the trade in the first place. I get the feeling that Hendry will do anything to "prove" that the Pierre acquisition was a good one, even if it means compounding the original mistake by making an even bigger mistake. Somehow I don't think Pierre will be taking a pay cut for next season considering he has been hitting much better recently.
  10. "All those things you mentioned aren't nearly as important as getting on base, and the Brewers are 15th in the [NL] in on-base percentage. They're not as important in earned run average, which they're last in the league." Awesome interview.
  11. I would be content to have 75% of the 2003 Mark Prior for a few years. Considering that 2003 Prior was a Cy Young candidate, 75% of that would be a solid 2 or 3 starter right now - something he isn't even close to being.
  12. Where's my mouthwash?
  13. I wouldn't read too much into this. Actually, on second thought, I wouldn't read into this at all.
  14. At first glance I thought the thread title was "Who is Farnsy?". Oops.
  15. This is the new Coors Field where pitchers can actually have good games. Colorado has the third best home ERA in the NL (7th in ML).
  16. Let's hope Hill continues his good performances. I won't be able to watch this game seeing as I have to work at 6 (Pacific Time) although that may be a good thing.
  17. Great. We already wasted an early first rounder last year on a punk (Pacman Jones) return man. I was afraid when we took LenDale something like this would happen. Oh well, at least there will be a little action this season as we take our learning curve to a 4-12 season again. At least we've got Vince Young. It'll be fun to watch him around the second half of the year. Is Vince Young the starter this year? He probably won't open the season as the starter, Billy Volek is a pretty good QB and has a solid base in that offense. Young probably will become the starter at some point but he still has several adjustments he needs to make to his game to adapt it to the pro level. That's not surprising at all. I didn't think Young would be named the starter right away especially with Volek there who, as you said, is a decent quarterback.
  18. No problem..yeah, I acutally looked it up about an hour ago. Iowa finished 5th I believe, and WSU was 6th..ND finished 9th that year, but couldn't get invited. You may be right on 1998 though-they finished with 9 wins, but they didn't finish in the top 15 of the BCS-I'm not sure what the eligibility requirements were back then, so I can't be sure if they were eligible or not that year. That was of course the first year of the BCS, so they might have changed some things from then (Wow-that was a while ago-that was the Jarious Jackson year if I'm remembering right when he got hurt on the last play against LSU right before USC). Iowa was 4th that year behind Miami, OSU and USC so they had the automatic bid. Also that year I think Washington State got the automatic bid to the Rose Bowl as Pac-10 champs. They tied with USC but beat them in the head-to-head meeting. So I believe Iowa and USC were locked in as the automatic at-large teams by finishing 3rd and 4th in the BCS. Iowa was 11-1, USC was 10-2 and Notre Dame was 10-2 but got destroyed by USC in the last game (thanks for handing Palmer the Heisman). They didn't have much of a case that year and I can't really remember a year where they were deserving but were left out. 2002 Final BCS Standings Iowa was fifth behind Miami, Ohio State, Georgia and USC. Like you said, WSU beat USC and got the Pac-10 automatic bid. But USC and Iowa were both in the top-6 and got the at-large bids. Pretty much, it all came down to the Notre Dame-USC game. The winner would get the at-large BCS bid.

  20. Wouldn't that be the "The Cubs will not do better than 16 under nor 9.5 games back" option?
  21. You were going so well until that last one. Well, I figure that Kasper and Miles can set up the right team and acquire the right players for Brenly to manage. And since Brenly and Kasper worked in the booth together for a couple years, they are on the same page and have a good relationship so Brenly would listen to Kasper.
  22. I voted the second one as well. The Cubs will win games but I see the Reds/Dodgers winning more.
  23. well.... he made contact. ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) I would have rather had him not make contact. At least then another hitter would have come to the plate in the ninth.
