  1. It’s definitely more that LA has no faith in its pen outside of Sasaki. The Brewers offense wasn’t good enough to get into the pen. Roberts probably pitches Snell the same way tonight even if Glasnow had gone all 9 and they didn’t need the pen at all on Monday.
  2. Not worried about the players. This isn't basketball, soccer, football or hockey. They stand around most of the time anyway. They're fine playing 15 innings and then playing a day game (if need be) the next day. Yes, in some situations it could be more taxing in the regular season. But again, you have a AAA team to call guys up from if need be in the regular season. You don't have that luxury in the playoffs. On average, it's going to be more taxing in the playoffs. You're also solving a problem that doesn't really exist. Games longer than 12 innings: The 2019 Cubs played games that went 13, 15 and 15. The 2018 Cubs played games that went 13, 14, 14 and 17. The 2017 Cubs played games that went 13 and 18. The 2016 Cubs played games that went 13, 13, 13, 13 and 15. The 2015 Cubs played games that went 13 and 13 The 2014 Cubs played games that went 13, 13, 13, 16 and 16. The 2013 Cubs played games that went 13, 13, 14 and 15. The 2012 Cubs played one 13 inning game. So the Cubs played 11 games that went into the 14th inning in 8 years. It's really not that big of a deal and you're making it sound like teams play 15+ inning games every couple weeks. Call up a AAA SP and a RP and you're good to go. It's fine.
  3. There’s still a lot of losses to come for the SEC. The 6-2 SEC teams plus Vandy have a lot of H2H games left. We still have Vandy-Texas, Oklahoma-Tennessee, Oklahoma-Missouri and Vandy-Tennessee. Texas also still plays A&M and Georgia, Missouri plays A&M and Oklahoma gets Bama. I guess maybe Vandy could go 10-2 and get passed over because they don’t want to take 5 SEC schools.
  4. Nobody is forcing you to watch all 18 innings of a random regular season game. You could, say, turn the game off and go to bed and watch the highlights the next day! They didn’t happen often but they were fun. I remember a decade ago watching John Baker come in to pitch because the Cubs ran out of pitchers, throwing a scoreless inning, then scoring the winning run in the bottom half. Maybe they’re more fun for me because even a late game doesn’t actually go that late on the West Coast (I went to bed by midnight last night) I would also argue the stress on a pitching staff is likely greater in the playoffs because you can’t just call up a couple relievers to fill innings the next day. Like what happens if either starter gets rocked tonight and only goes 3 innings?
  5. Pure value, Judge is probably worth more. But if we’re talking who is the more skilled player, it’s Ohtani without question. We’ve never seen a player like him before whereas we’ve seen Aaron Judge before.
  6. Man this has been fun. Don't even care that there haven't been any runs in like 3 hours. Hopefully the series ends like the last time the Dodgers played an 18 inning World Series game.
  7. Ohtani is the first player to reach base 7 times in a postseason game. Ohtani is the first player to reach base 8 times in a postseason game. Ohtani is the first player to reach base 9 times in a postseason game.
  8. Was at the game last night. With a few minutes left he was something like 2 or 3 assists and 3 or 4 rebounds short. I thought the easy one would be the assists since the Kings started double teaming him to make somebody else score.
  9. LOL this is just an absurd sequence.
  10. Including Indiana is totally justified, assuming Cignetti stays, but it’s still really weird seeing them included as a team that if you don’t play them, it makes your schedule easier.
  11. I mean that’s what he should have done. Do what you have to do to advance and worry about the next round if you get there. Don’t save a guy for a series that might not happen.
  12. Not arguable. Strictly with the bat, Judge is better.
  13. Well it’s not the fewest runs. My dad, who is a Dodger fan, remembered the Dodgers scoring 2 runs in the 1966 WS against Baltimore. They got 2 in the first game and then were shut out the next three games. They got 17 hits though.
  14. If this isn’t the fewest runs and hits in a four game sweep, it’s got to be awfully close. 3 runs and 12 hits is pathetic.
  15. That was pretty awesome. The place went nuts when Dumper donged to tie it but this was another level.
  16. 9 years ago… High drive into right back at the wall it is GONE. Grand slam, Montero! Game 1 hero!
  17. If only they were the Cardinals they'd have more to choose from.
  18. Kittridge, Hodge, Pomeranz, Brown and Keller all averaged more than 1 K/IP.
  19. Yeah, I mean unless I’m missing something, there’s no reason he shouldn’t score there. There’s 1 out so he should be tagging, in which case it shouldn’t matter whether or not the CFer caught the ball. Just wait until he catches it and jog home. It’s tougher for the other runners since they won’t be tagging anyway (well the runner on second might be). But the runner on third should 100% score there.
  20. I'm really not sure what exactly you're arguing with at this point. The original post was that normal people don't behave like this, which it seems like you agree with. It also seems like you agree that he needs to tone it down and that acting like this doesn't help him. I mean, is he unique in that he's literally the only baseball player who throws his helmet like this? Nope. You got me there. But I would venture a guess that he's in the top 0.01% of baseball players in terms of how often he slams his helmet. And Misiorowski getting overly excited early in a playoff game and PCA slamming his helmet countless times this season aren't comparable in any way really.
  21. It's most definitely not. How many other players slam their helmet after a vast majority of their PA's that end in outs? It's fine to slam a helmet in frustration after a big play. But he does it after striking out in the second inning of 0-0 game in August.
  22. Wait so you’re saying it’s bad to be sacked the same number of times as you complete a pass and to lose more yards on sacks that you have passing yards for the game?
  23. I’d rather keep Shaw and hope he figures it out a bit at the plate than trade him and get Suarez.
  24. Just 1 if you get an OF bat like he said. Then you have the FA bat and PCA, leaving one spot open.
  25. https://www.mlb.com/news/cubs-set-roster-for-nl-wild-card-series This says he was named to the roster so must have not gotten into a game.
