  1. I thought the “he’ll have a decision in four days” stuff or whatever was really weird. Like that pretty much means you’re going to leave. Because if he was going to stay he would have agreed to a contract extension. And Ole Miss is in the playoff so you’re interrupting the season regardless (as opposed to if it happened after the regular season but before a bowl game).
  2. Cal with a 1st and goal.
  3. With how the Iron Bowls at Auburn usually are, I'm fully expecting Auburn to score here and the game to come down to a 2-point conversion.
  4. Bama was up 17-0 in the second quarter but because no Iron Bowl at Auburn can be normal, it's now 20-20. Bama's offense doesn't look great either.
  5. We're going to have to agree to disagree. I don't think you can pick one week out, list a few of the games and extrapolate that out to a full season. All it means is that games involving 2 loss teams are the ones that matter versus games involving 0 and 1 loss teams. Ohio St-Indiana next week means very little to the national title picture. Might not even affect byes. But in the old system, the loser might be out. Did it matter that Texas A&M lost yesterday? Georgia is likely still in the playoff with a loss yesterday too. Like okay, maybe there's a couple more games that matter in the new system because you're including more teams. But I really liked sitting down watching a pair of 8-0 teams play knowing that the loser might not have a shot to play for a title. Now, the loser can win out and they're in for sure. I'll also disagree about any of the ACC games, Tulane and James Madison actually being relevant to people. I know that a couple of those teams are getting in, but nobody thinks any of them have a shot at winning 4 straight playoff games. Maybe Miami but that's it. If they're relevant to you, that's fine. But I doubt the average college football fan cares all that much about any of those games.
  6. So lets see. 1. Comes out after a ball when he doesn't necessarily need to. 2. Tries to pass to a teammate while falling down rather than just booting the ball out of bounds or up the field. 3. Jogs back to the goal after getting back up (might not make a save anyway but doesn't look good). 4. Throws hands up and yells at a teammate after rather than accepting blame.
  7. Do more games actually matter or do different games just matter? Like last year's Michigan-Ohio State game didn't actually matter. Michigan wasn't getting in regardless while Ohio State was getting in the playoff no matter what. OSU-Oregon and OSU-Penn State ended up not mattering last year either because all three teams got in the playoff anyway. I get that spots in conference championship games and seeds/byes are at stake, but that's not what we talk about when we say a game matters. It means whether or not you have a chance to play for a title. I'm sure I could do the same thing with the SEC.
  8. I would think they're behind Bama still. Bama lost at Florida St. Texas lost at Florida. These seem to be relatively comparable losses. Bama lost by 2 at home to Oklahoma. Texas lost by 7 at Ohio St and by 25 at Georgia. Seems to be advantage Bama there. Bama won at No. 4 Georgia, vs. No. 14 Vandy, vs. No. 19 Tenn. Texas won home to No. 3 A&M, neutral vs. No. 8 Oklahoma, vs No. 14 Vandy. Bama also won at Missouri who is barely outside the top-25 so if they win they could be ranked next week. So I'd say slight advantage Texas there, though Bama does have a ranked road win (over the No. 4 team). So Texas having an extra loss, a loss by 25 points and Bama having the best win gives them the nod to me.
  9. It’s pretty wild. I think I heard somewhere that they’ve played a pretty weak schedule so far but like you said, they haven’t had their second best player at all yet.
  10. I guess one positive is Mexico is just as likely to get a nightmare group as we are. Guess we just have to root for upsets in the UEFA playoffs then to decrease our chances of a nightmare group.
  11. If I understand the draw rules correctly, from Pot 4, we'll be unable to draw Curacao, Haiti or either International Playoff winner since both contain CONCACAF teams. Which means there's a 50-50 chance we get a UEFA team from that Pot. That doesn't seem ideal.
  12. I heard right after Daboll was fired that they’ve blown 4 games where they lead by 10 on the road in the 4th quarter (I think I got the stat right) and the rest of the league has blown 1 game like that.
  13. I know you’re just throwing out a random hypothetical, but I believe if Norway and Italy end up in the same group, the Pot 1 team would have to be either Brazil, Argentina or one of the three host nations since 3 European teams can’t be in the same group.
  14. It’s really dumb that they do the WC draw before all teams have qualified. It’s not a lock Italy and/or Denmark will qualify, but by the rankings, they would be in Pot 2 if they qualified. However, all 6 playoff teams are placed in Pot 4 by default.
  15. He also led all of qualifying with those 16 goals despite Norway only playing 8 games. Second place was a guy from Qatar who scored 12 goals. However Qatar played 18 games in qualifying.
  16. Group A, unfortunately Suriname lost while Panama won, so Panama qualifies automatically. However... Group B, Curacao got a 0-0 tie in Jamaica to qualify for the first time ever. Group C, Haiti beat Nicaragua and Honduras tied Costa Rica so Haiti qualified automatically. Suriname could still qualify via the inter-confederation playoffs. Costa Rica, who had made 5 of the last 6 WC's, won 1 of 6 games and finished 3rd in their group. Honduras, who made it in 2010 and 2014, didn't even make the playoffs.
  17. Would they swap teams to avoid rematches if possible or do they not take that into consideration? Would be easy to just swap ND and Bama or Oregon/OU so we get ND-OU and Bama-Oregon instead of the Bama-OU rematch.
  18. Some crazy stuff happening in CONCACAF qualifying going into the final matchday. Group A has Panama (33), El Salvador (81), Guatemala (106) and Suriname (137). Suriname leads the group on GD and is 3 goals up on Panama. They're at least guaranteed a playoff match as the runner up. Win at Guatemala and they're likely in the WC. Group B has Jamaica (63), Curacao (90), Trinidad (100) and Bermuda (168). Curacao leads the group and is 1 point up on Jamaica. They play at Jamaica in the last game. They're also guaranteed at least a playoff match. Group C has Costa Rica (54), Honduras (75), Haiti (83) and Nicaragua (133). Honduras currently leads the group over Haiti on GD and they're 2 points up on Costa Rica. However, Honduras plays at Costa Rica while Haiti is home to Guatemala. So if Haiti wins, there's a decent chance they qualify automatically. Suriname and Curacao have never made the WC. Haiti made it once, in 1974. Jamaica made it once, in 1998.
  19. In the latest rankings, Notre Dame is 9, Texas is 10 and Miami is 15. All 3 are 7-2. Notre Dame has the best losses, by a combined 4 points to two teams that are a combined 16-2 and ranked 3 and 15. Their only ranked win is by 10 over #17 USC. Texas lost to No. 1 on the road but also lost to a 3-6 Florida team. They have two ranked wins over 11 and 14. Miami lost to 19 and unranked SMU (though they’re 7-3 this year). They have 2 ranked wins over 9 and 24. They also beat Florida by 19 So why is Miami 5 or 6 spots lower besides “well they lost more recently”? Not necessarily saying Miami should be ahead of either or both of those teams. But I just don’t see a 5-6 spot difference.
  20. Yeah, I get some middling guy who hasn’t made much money and will never make much money. It’s wrong, but I get it. But Clase had made $11.6M in his career, was guaranteed $6.4M and likely had $20M coming to him in 27-28. Then he hits the FA market before his age 31 season. So even if he blows out and makes nothing, including a 2M buyout, he’s made $20M in his career. With health and good performance, he’d make well over $100M for the rest of his career.
  21. Here’s a fun one. South Florida and UTSA played this week. South Florida didn’t run a single offensive play until there were 2 minutes left in the first quarter. However when they finally got the ball, they were already up 14-3 because they had a pick 6 and a fumble returned for a TD.
  22. For sure. Like I said, not a shot at them specifically. Just sucks that they don’t play any of the other three current top-10 teams in the conference in the regular season at least.
  23. Man I hate the new expanded conferences. This isn’t a shot at aTm, they can only play who is on their schedule. Of their 8 conference games, 6 or 7 are against unranked teams (Missouri is ranked in the coaches poll but unranked in the AP). And Texas could end up unranked as well if they lose to Georgia and aTm. Maybe they’re the best team in the conference. But it’s dumb that they might be in the SEC title game solely because of the schedule. And yes, credit to them for scheduling at Notre Dame. Good win. Count Missouri and Texas as ranked. aTm has 2 ranked conference games. Bama has 5. Georgia has 4 (plus Georgia Tech). Ole Miss also only has 2, though at least one of them was at Georgia. But lump them in with aTm if you want to This stuff is going to happen every year and it sucks. Indiana last year likely made the playoff because they only had to play 1 of the other 4 ranked Big 10 teams.
  24. Two true statements: If the season ended today, the Chiefs would not make the playoffs as they're tied with the Jags for the last WC spot and would lose the tiebreaker due to H2H. The Chiefs are currently the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl.
  25. Good to see the classlessness in St. Louis extends from the baseball diamond to the ice. It was hilarious that he claimed he fully intended to give the puck to Ovie. So why not just give it to a referee straightaway then? Why shove it down your pants?
