  1. To be fair 1 of the 5 is Patterson. If you think you are going to get Penn or Cabrera AND Tejada for 3 of those guys you are dreaming. Penn or Cabrera might be better than any of the players the Cubs are sending to Baltimore in that rumor. Maybe, but Tejada isn't worth 5 guys. Besides Baltimore would rather have quality over quantity.
  2. Why would you want to downgrade at the GM spot? KW is a terrible GM, who got EXTREMELY lucky with his moves last yr. My bet....Javy Vazquez will stink with the Sox.
  3. Agreed. There is a saying, "a broken watch is correct twice a day." Or how about the "sun shines on a dog's butt once awhile." Fact is...KW is not a better GM then hendry, heck, I would even say Williams isn't a serviceable Gm. As lawl at dusty said...the White Sox won...despite Williams, not because of his "brillant" moves.
  4. Oh boy....can we, can we please sign Corey Patter----I mean Jacque Jones. can we, can we, can we? I wanted Bradley to ELIMINATE Encarnacion/Jones, etc possibility. But hey.....we STILL got John Mabry to play in RF, too.
  5. Oh come on....you don't like the five step before you bounce the ball rule (Francis did in Detroit), or how about player A would get hammer and to the ground, and is bleeding from the forehead, and he is call for offensive fouls. What you don't "LIKE THAT." Come sports, isn't about competion, it's about repitition (Yankees/Red Sox, Pistons/Laker/Spurs/Pacers etc). There i nothing sporty about sports.
  6. The RF solution is....Sammy Sosa.....Just kidding. No, but seriously it may be....either Kevin Mench, Craig Wilson, and Jonny Gomes (heck the Drays lost his brother to the Padres). I know Hendry wants a lefty, but I doubt he lands a LEFTY power-hitting RFer.
  7. Besides....Baker doesn't like to play the YOUNG player, ya'll know...
  8. Ok we trade Walker, Cedeno, and Williams and get bact Michael Young? And I thought we overpaid for Pierre. No thank you. Why not just take that same package and offer it to Baltimore for Tejada straight up? The Cubs would have to get another player in the deal.
  9. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/rozner.asp?id=131278 Vidro, eh?
  10. he recognized Dusty Baker was a bad manager even though he'd just been to a WS. if nothing else, that gives him one up on our GM. But then AGAIN he did sign, Felipe Alou who has the same affinity for older players as Dusty does. So he is below Hendry, simply because Schmidt and Kent are the only good trades Sabean has made as Giants GM. Whereas the Hendry has traded for Murton, ARam, Lee, Barrett, Williams (stole him from Sabean). Sabean is not as good of a GM as Hendry.
  11. Clemens will not go to Boston. If he plays in 2006, he will wait and sign with the Astros on May 1st. Why, you ask? Simply: Clemens has stated NUMEROUSLY that he wants Ausmus as his personal catcher, and no other catcher. Maybe Varitek might convince him to come to Boston, but at this stage of Clemens career, he is unlikely to switch catchers. It will be either the Astros or retirement.
  12. Who thinks in trying to convince Tejada to stay....Angelos' will meet Boras' demand( 7yrs/$84 mill) on Johnny Damon? Then everybody will pronounce Angelos' is Boras' new ________ well, you get the hint. I think we are about to see Angelos overpay for a FA.
  13. Because Harold Reynolds, "loves the young man", silly.
  14. I say San Diego Sun Dogs or whichever tea Rickey played for last. Or maybe he does a Troy O'leary, and go and play in Korean League. Sammy in Korea? Wouldn't that BE FUN.
  15. But Rincon is a mil cheaper than King would have been.. King wasnt all that great either.. and no I'm not saying Rincon is either.. Could do worse though.. Sure King would have been OK to keep but we got 3 alright players for King's price.. Not too bad IMO. Who are the other 2?? Bigbie maybe if something explains his falling off a cliff last year. But Aaron Miles is no damn good. I thought Aaron Miles was a pretty solid combo guard for University of Kansas? But he was made better by playing alongside Kirk Hinrich.
  16. I think either the Cubs will get Tejada within the next couple of days or the Angels or Astros will swoop in and get him in a week. I doubt the Astros, simply because they have to set aside SOME money to possibly re-sign Clemens, if Roger wants to come back in 2006. Besides outside of Taylor Buchloz (the kid that got for Wagner, sp?) is prolly the closest to being a "high end prosect" the Astros have. And if the Stros are seriously considering the Lidge for Abreu deal, then that would effectively take them out of the Tejada sweepstakes. Realistically,it is really down to two teams...Cubs and Angels. They didn't offer Clemens arbitration, they can't sign him until May 1. I'm maybe ahalf-baked idiot, but not a total idiot, and I do know he wasn't offer arby. Now he isn't going to sign with any team outside of Texas, you know it, I know it, and Clemens knows it.
  17. True but he was a "big name" pickup designed to rally their fan base while also distracting from the upstart Nationals. Oh come on....you don't think Pierre can rally the Cubs fan base, and overshadow the Jim Thome acquisition. Ok...eough sarcasm.

  19. That doesn't change the fact that Baltimore will do the Ramirez for Tejada deal. 1: You don't trade a big level talent to a division (even tho, they would be getting a darn good player back), and if you do...make sure the Red Sox include Peplebon, Declarman, and/or Marte. 2: Baltimore wants nothing to do with the headache that is Manny Ramirez. Not to mention the fact that Angelos, values money over winning, would be vry hesitant to trade for a player making around $20 mill per.
  20. Baltimore has now jumped in the "Johnny Damon sweepstakes."
  21. http://www.rotoauthority.com/2005/12/matt_murton_pro.html ^ Would anybody be disspointed with this projection of Murton in 2006? Cause I wouldn't.
  22. I maybe bizarre (to which I hope you guys consider my bizarre, cause that would be a badge of honor)but I hope Hendry lands Tejada if for nothing else, it would allow me to use the following statement: Miggy hit the piggy out of the ballPawk.
  23. Seconded! I'm going to go against the grain and say I would not make this trade. I would be willing to part with all of those prospects for a bat that would be the centerpiece of our lineup. Tejada, however, would be the third best hitter in our lineup. Not worth it, IMO. In his MVP year, (awarded mostly because of his 131 RBIs) he had an .862 OPS. His career OPS is .815. This guy is good, not great. I think if we took that package and threw in Harvey, we could pry Miguel Cabrera away. Much younger, and would instantly be the #1 bat in our lineup. Cedeno/Cabrera>>>>Tejada/2nd tier RF Party pooper...
  24. What in the earth is SoSh? Sons of Sam Hahn-Red Soaks message bard Thanks. Could Boston put together a package better than the Cubs and would the O's want to trade within their division? Sure it they are prepare to offer any and or all of the following: Abe Alvarez/Manny Delcarmen/Jonathan Papelbon/Andy Marte, with Marte being the "centerpiece." Boston isn't going to land Tejada, I think anybody with a brain knows that Baltimore ain't trading him to Boston. Perferably, they want him out of the AL, but they still will take the best offer, AL or NL. (Hopefully the Cubs offer, entices them)
