    Hey, if the Cards are feeling "LEFT OUT" (pun intended), I think the Cubs have a spare crappy lefty that they could call "specialist." I think Hendry would be persuaded to move Bartosh, Koronka, Rohlicek (if not selected in the Rule 5/V draft), heck, I would throw-in (oh what a....)RUSCH.....

    :( I love being in the minority, but I am actually going to miss Macias, I thought he wasn't as bad as people say he was. If Baker would had kept him in the 7th/8th spot in the lineup, when Macias was schedule to play. Macias would have been fine. Good luck to you, Mr. Macias.

    Am I the only one (hope not) who feels that Pierre won't be the only transaction the Cubs make? Because a Mench for Mitre deal is starting to spread, abit.

    Nobody thought Hendry would be able to pull Murton from the Red Sox, also. So it wouldn't surprise me if Kensing, Vargas, or Olsen is coming along with Pierre. Which would be fine with me.

    How did the Trib fire Bayless, and yet the SunTimes keep the equal enept Janie Mariotta on the payroll, shows you why the SunTimes is considered a second rate paper. I swear (not cussin, mind you) that if Mariotta isn't ripping the Cubs, either through tv or thru his article, he would be one unhappy, and lon....what a minute...he is already one unhappy, and lonely dude. Jay really does need to take a course of "creative writing" cause there isn't anything creative about what he writes. Same verse, different day.

    I don't know....did it work for the Diamonback with Richie Sexson, or the White Sox with Wells and Colon (in separate deals)? My guess is...it wouldn't be worth 3 prospects, but if the rumor is the Cubs are only sending Nolasco and Pinto and getting a prospect with Pierre, then yeah, it will be worth it. Knowing Hendry's ability to work a trade...it wouldn't surprise me if he walks away with either Kensing, Vargas, or Olsen with Pierre.

    TECHNICALLY, Furcal is the 3rd highest SS in baseball behind Jeter (and come on...ARod ain't a 3rd baseman, he is a SS). And how is anybody surpise that a WRITER for FOXSPORTS (key word Fox) wrote a favorable grade for the DODGERS? That's would be like Phil Rogers writing a favorably article (which he is incapable of doint, btw) for the Cubs.

    Some metrics(not that I necessarily agree) have Dunn rated as the better fielder than Abreu. And despite Dunn being a big guy, he really isn't all that slow. Abreu is a poor defender. How in the world he won a Gold Glove is beyond me. Poor range and laziness shouldn't get you a GG. 24/102/31/.286/.405/.474 that is why he won the GG. You didn't know that winning a gold glove is ALL about the offense?

    I'm more SURPRISE that Nefti Perez is actually going to represent the DR when candidates like Jhonny Peralta, and Rafael Furcal are still out there. Now that is.... :shock:

    I don't think the A's/Dodgers "proposed trade" is as close as what it is being made out to be.... http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-cub06.html Interesting....did anybody else know that the Dodgers gave the Cubs permission to talk to Bradley last month? The feeling I get from the article is that Bradley could very well be a Cubs, as easily he could be a Athlethic. Interesting.....I don't think Bradley is going to be dealt, just yet, to the A's.

    Don't forget they combine for 2 GREAT yrs, and 4 decent yrs in a combine 14 yrs of ML service. Not a great investment for a team that still needs to be on a limited budget. They'd be great or they'd be awful next. There will be no mediocrity for the Blue Jays in 06.

    First: It takes two teams to make a trade, and I don't see Philly just jumping all over themselves for that deal, even tho with that deal, the Cubs would absorb ALL of Abreu contract. Second: I don't understand why Philly thinks it can land a "frontline starting pitcher" for Abreu? He is 32 yrs old, he is on the side of his prime yrs that includes him declining, and to top it off...makes $30 mill (or something like that) over the next two yrs. I just don't see a team giving up a frontline starter for that. Now.....If they would bring the price down to say...Jeriome Williams, Scott Moore (they need a 3rd baseman to replace Bell/Nunez) and Renyel Pinto (or Rich Hill), I'd be glad to absorbed the rest of Abreu's contract. In other words: Philly is stuck with Abreu, if they are stuck on the notion they can land a "frontline starter" for Abreu.

    How about taking Soriano off the Rangers hands. If you haven't notice...the Rangers are desparately trying to move Soriano, seeing as this is an arbritration (sp?) ready to happen, and he is going to make over $10 mill next yr...unless he is non-tendered, if that's possibly. I rather trade Williams and Mitre for Kearns and ptbnl.

    How about: (sorry Murton fans, he would be included) Cubs get: Abreu (and cash or Michaels if Cubs eat all of his contract) Phillies get: Zito and Scott Moore (Cubs) A's get: Matt Murton, Brandon Sing, and Philly prospect

    Would I do a Mitre/Nolasco for Kearns? You bet. Heck....let's get greedy an include say Novoa, Patterson, or Ryu and get Freel thrown-in the deal. :lol:

And how does slighty ovepaying a couple of relievers, equate to GROSSLY overpaying a very good, not great, SS? Rogers must have some beyond beliefs type pictures of the upper managment of the Cubs, cause there is no way this douchebag should still be writing for the Tribune.

    Duncan is good, Leo is better, but Bud Black is the GAME'S BEST PITCHING COACH, period. And he doesn't have the quality of pitchers the Braves had, or the Cards have. Burnett has great stuff, but....he's stuff is not as good as Wood. Beisdes. Burnett has already had 2 TJS in his career, so that has to be considered a HUGE gamble for the Cardinals. People wants to fall in love with the fact that Burnett had a 9 walk no hitter, and a few glimpse of brillance, but the fact remains....the Cubs are frustrated with the lack of consistancy shown by Wood, but by comparasion, Burnett makes Wood look like Maddux. I wouldn't touch Burnett even if he can cheaply. And the stats prove Wood is better.
