  1. You mean, "Those wacky Canadians, eh?"
  2. The problem is that his current contract can be voided after this season if he chooses to :( And if he puts ups the "monster MVP numbers" as expected, then he is going to be worth the new contract. This is a win-win situation for the Cubs, and ARam. Here's to a .340/.420/ 47 hr/135 rbi's type monster season.
  3. No, not yet, probably not ever I'm guessing. I'm guessing when they dealt for Matt Murton, with Nomar as a throw-in. Or how about getting Lee for Choi? Or how about Ramirez for Hill, Hernandez, and Bruback? Getting Williams for Hawkins? The Cubs have been batting .500 with moves lately.
  4. 7 yrs $84 mill for a 32 yr old CF, who hadn't recieved that kind of "love" that Boras prolly promise during the offseason. Who thinks the longer Boras keeps the 7 yr $84 mill mantra up, the longer Damon will remain unsign, or ends up in Detroit (who has the reigning patsy of an owner)? Sorry, CAPTAIN CAAAAVVVVEEEEEMMMMAAAAANNNNNNN, it would be a stretch if Johhny even got half of the demand, much less the full amount. But call ka-razy, but no team (including the morons in NY) is going to give a 32 yr old, pretty weak defensive CF that kind of money. Heck it wouldn't surprise me, if tells ignore Damon till 2006.
  5. This the the main reason, I am not that interested in acquiring Wilkerson. We have a very similar ballplayer in Matt Murton is, IMO, will be the better player in less then 2 yrs. I just don't like tweeners players like Wilkerson. Bat not good enough for a corner, but not adequately tolerable in CF on defense. This is the reason I am more interested in Pierre. I wouldn't mind Wilkerson, but only if they can't land anybody better.
  6. I thought you were talking about Buehrle for Mulder?
  7. Whoa. jmajew; Let's not be saying things you don't mean. His average is just that...average....but the kid does get on base at a .350 clip over the course of his career. He has 20 homerun talent (RFK was just killer on power last yr) He doesn't run particularly well, but is by no means slow. IMO, Wilkerson would be a solid corner OF acquisiton, but by no means what I want him in CF. Wilkerson is much more then a "4 OFer" your implying. Wilkerson is an everyday player. And this is coming from a person, who is not that high on Wilkerson, but I would take him, in a heartbeat. I could live with Murton/Pierre/Wilkerson OF.
  8. Furcal isn't going to get $50 million, unless the Mets are the dumb team who wants him. Furcal is going to get around 38 to 42 mill over 4 yrs, period. I still want Furcal. And on Wilkerson....hello people we already have a "Wilkerson type" player on the team....he's call Matt Murton.
  9. I hate to say it....but AJ will end up in Seattle. Toronto doesn't have the resources to sign Burnett. So i see Tor signing a decent bat, instead.
  10. Go for it. He's numbers have improve over the past three yrs, and while a slight decline is within a yr or so, I think it would be worth a 2 yr deal.
  11. How about: To Boston: Jerry Hairston, Jr...and the remaining hair cream of Nomar. To Chicago: a crate full of Boston baked beans.
  12. Correct. Yet another great trade by Ed Lynch, especially since Aguilera got that magically 300th save with the Cubs in that great 2000 campaign. Not that Lohse has been spectuclar, but rather just another example of the Cubs trading for an over-the-hill less than great player. -Banghart I don't regret trading Lohse.
  13. Huh? Lohse for Patterson. Didn't we trade Lohse for Aguilera?
  14. Agreed. If the Cubs are giving up the BETTER player (and they are), the Cubs SHOULD be getting the prospect in return, and not the other way.
  15. Is it because he is the only legit CF who is actually AVAILABLE and young enough to continue to contribute? I like Pierre, and I believe in a contract yr, he will bounce back and have an outstanding yr. And it won't take Pie, Hill or Marshall to land him. I say Pinto and a decent low A reliever, should do the trick. ----------- To the OTHER debate in this thread: No Pie is not ready, NOR should he be placed in a platoon when he is ready. Let him play everyday in 2007, regardless. Platoon situation does nothing for the player or the organization, but waste a yr.
  16. I feel that way myself, to be honest. How about both? Cedeno is clearly equal if NOT better then Nefti with the Glove, either at SS or 2B, and his bat--still questionable---is better then Nefti. I believe Furcal/Cedeno would have a higher value then Walker/Cedeno.
  17. Where o' where is the "New Sherriff in town" Kevin Malone?
  18. That would be good Funny, because to a normal fan that would mean not corey not not pie. When is a Cubs fan considered "normal?" I've been accused of a lot of things in my time..... being "normal" was never one of them. I've been consider "abnormal", does that count?

  20. two words for you: Scott Kazmir Any GM that can get absolutely fleeced like that doesn't deserve the job. Hendry is a moran, but I'd still rather have him than Phillips (i'm sure you were just kidding about that :D ). I may be wrong but i dont think that Phillips was the one who traded Kazmir, wasnt it his replacement? true. it was Phillips' assitant that did that after Phillips was canned. maybe i should have said "phillip's regime." he's still a moran though. Jim Duquette was the GM at the time, but it was widely rumored that the owners son - Jeff Wilpon, made that deal in a last ditch effort to try and make the playoffs two years ago. Duquette was a figurehead in NY his last year as GM before Minaya got there. hahaha. trade the previously untouchable pitching prospect for a mediocre starter so you can make the playoffs. why was phillips axed? was it the affair with his secretary or performance related (he deserved it on that alone)? No, he was fired because he thought Bobby Valentine would look good in those clowns glasses, when he can back to the field after being ejected.
  21. WHere in the heck would you play Thome? He can only play 1st or are you planning on dumping the younger and better Lee after the spectacular year he just had? Paul Rogers had an interesting take in Sunday's Trib, where he mentioned the possibility of Thome leaving Philadelphia. Rogers said the Cubs have no use for him now with DLee, but if the Cubs had signed him 3 years ago when Hendry had the chance, 2003 could have been the year we won it all. Made me think for a moment. Rogers is a douche, with nothing interesting to say......the Cubs were rightfully cautious about signing a player with a history of back problems to a huge deal.
  22. Personally, I like to see KC keep him on the roster, watch him get BOMBED and gloat in front of people who thought Sisco would be anything special. But hey.....that's just me.
  23. I could see the Sox including Garland in a trade for Helton or Delgado, but never to their crosstown rivals. Neither Hendry or Williams have a hatred of the other team, like the fans do. If it would improve their teams, I could see Hendry and Williams working a trade (btw: now correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Hendry draft Garland back i 1997?) But I highly doubt Garland is the kind of "pitcher" Hendry wants.
