  1. Even other sports media types on twitter are calling him out for being a lunatic tonight. David Kaplan @thekapman · 1h You're not that dumb. That play was BS. RT @desipiodotcom: Stop. Just. Stop. People [expletive] up. It happens. Hell, you broadcast yours all day. Gordon Wittenmyer ‏@GDubCub 39m @thekapman Dude, chill. Not to defend, but that over-the-top approach on a per-play basis would leave about 100 guys in the big leagues.

  3. He's not a power hitter. I wasn't comparing him to other shortstops, because he's a terrific offensive shortstop, so maybe that was bad phrasing? Either way you don't stand there and admire a ball to the deepest part of the field when you're a 15 homer guy. It has nothing to do with earning it or anything like that, you just have to know you're not a 420 foot homer guy so there is no way that's a no doubter. OK. Just making sure frustration over a boneheaded play tonight wasn't causing anyone to lose sight of Castro's ability. 3rd among qualified shortstops in SLG and OPS. Not a light-hitting shortstop. Not even close.
  4. Starlin Castro is a light-hitting shortstop?
  5. I enjoy Spiegel. Enjoyed Mac at times. I like Bernstein when he has someone on that will challenge some of what he says...Boers never does that. i disagree. Bernstein is at his best when he has a hype-man like Boers backing him up. he really gets the meatballs in a lather. and yes, if you don't like Bernstein, you're a meatball, sorry. Can't I just dislike him for being a smarmy [expletive] and a terrible radio personality even if he's right sometimes? Exactly. And he's not right as often as he likes to think he is.
  6. Holmes might be the only one on the Score that I actually enjoy, but I only listen while I'm in my car, so having a tolerable option for the morning drive would be pretty nice. Mike & Mike are just okay, and they get stuck on one topic for what seems like weeks at a time. MLB Network Radio has Hollandsworth and Memolo, so they talk a lot about who doesn't hit well enough with RISP. I've been going with NFL Network Radio lately, which actually isn't bad, but a decent local option would be nice.
  7. I enjoy when one or both are on vacation and it is filled in by someone else, I might be in the minority but I enjoy when Rozner fills in. He is the only one who actually talks hockey and trolls the Vancouver Canuck fan base any chance he gets. Rozner is the worst.
  8. My guess is Sweeney or Ruggiano to the DL.
  9. Wasn't that for Castro?
  10. Man, I wish they'd get rid of Mully and Hanley. They are unbearable
  11. I caught that too. So annoying.
  12. Muskat says he's not expected to join the team until Wednesday.
  13. Early twitter speculation is that it didn't appear injury related. Not sure why he'd be pulled mid game for a promotion Long flight to Cincinnati.
  14. I don't have my 2014 prospect handbook handy, but I think I remember most of the top 6 or 8 picks making most of the BA writers' lists. Schwarber might have been regarded as an overdraft, but top 5 picks who reach high A and OPS over 1.000 are going to be on most top 50 lists, even with some defensive concerns. One, some of the gurus acted like only a select few would make the top 50 and it might have been Law that said no one would have made his top 25. Keep in mind, just because we drafted him 4th, he was considered a top 12-15 guy and these guys aren't going to bump him just because we took him higher. Then add in that Law doesn't appear to give a [expletive] about stats from college guys at lower levels and Parks places a huge emphasis on position and its not looking great for Schwarber right now for their lists, in my mind. Kiley likes him a bunch and my guess is BA will rank him rather highly too. The highest ranking he's likely to get will be from Sickels, since he's damn near an all stats guy. Again, from the BP midseason top 50: 1. Right now, it does not appear that he is destined for first base 2. His 2014 showing has obviously been better than solid Shwarber is a top 50 prospect.
  15. BP indicated that Schwarber would have fit in somewhere around the 45-50 range if he were eligible for the midseason list. That was before he was promoted to Daytona. I'd be surprised if he didn't crack the top 50 on at least few lists.
  16. haha, absolutely.
  17. Eh, with the minimal financial commitments the Cubs have heading into the offseason, he shouldn't be pitching himself out of their price range. His performance of late just makes me more excited about the possibility of a Lester-Arrieta-McCarthy-Hendricks-Wada/Straily/Doubront/Turner rotation. he's certainly pricing himself out of getting both him and lester Really? How much do you expect he'll get? Before this Yankee run, 1/10 or 2/18 would have been my guess. If he continues tearing it up the rest of the year I think you're looking at least at a Feldman contract, 3/30, if not 3/36 to 4/48. I don't see how that puts him + Lester out of the realm of possibility, unless the payroll is going to be much lower than I had in mind.
  18. No. Stop. Forget about Mike Olt. There is no Mike Olt.
  19. Was my thinking too. He's not coming cheap this offseason.
