  1. It's encouraging that the consensus here still pretty much ranks Javy as the #2 prospect. Honest question, though: is there something about his development path that makes his 26% career K rate less concerning than Olt's 26% minor league K rate or Jackson's 28% minor league K rate? Is it just because he's younger than those two were when they reached AAA that we shouldn't be as alarmed about his strikeout levels? I'm not writing Baez off by any means, but it feels like in past years, people have essentially given up on prospects because of K rates in a similar range as his.
  2. I don't know. Javy's K is just such a constant concern that I'm terrified he's going to flame out. I'm almost definitely overreacting, but I'm ready for one of his trademark extended stretches of dominance. I know he went on a tear toward the end of May, but he's hitting .208 with 19 Ks in 59 PAs in June. I know he's really young for AAA and he's historically a slow starter when he is promoted a level, but I can't help but have Mike Olt/Brett Jackson PTSD. I'm more than willing to be talked off the ledge on him. Someone convince me that he's going to be Mike Stanton at SS, because that's so much more fun. Alcantara and Schwarber are only that high for me due to my Javy fears and Soler's inability to stay on the field.
  3. Bosio is magical. I might have to buy this. http://www.amazon.com/Chris-Chicago-Authentic-Jersey-Majestic/dp/B00C5RG2WG
  4. It hurts to drop Javy that far, but I pretty much agree with this. I actually might put Almora a few slots lower than that, though.
  5. Makes sense. Basically, assuming they can sign all 7 of those picks, they did a good job piling up talent without having to punt any picks in the top 7 rounds.
  6. I saw this, and I don't really get it. So every guy the took up to pick #199 was in the BA top 200 and that means they're killing it?
  7. Atlanta made it last year.
  8. I'm not sure if this has been posted yet.
  9. Notes I got: A guy that gets on base a ton would be very useful to have in the system. Thanks!
  10. Conforto is definitely the possible pick that I know the least about. What's the scouting report on him? Does he have much power? How is his defense?
  11. LOL. Were the outfielders spread across the outfield or were they shading to the right as well?
  12. If the White Sox really wanted Stanton they should have traded Ozzie Guillen for him when they had the chance.

  14. Oh what the hell. At first i thought the quote was referring to some sort of theoretical Carlos Gonzalez-Samardzija swap.
  15. Still have 2 perfect coaches with Knicks/Phil ties. Hoiberg and Mark Jackson. Knicks fans want Jackson anyway. Hoiberg is going nowhere just yet. What ties does Hoiberg have anyway? Phil was in LA by the time Hoiberg came to the Bulls. Unless you count playing in a triangle offense under Cartwright as a Phil tie. My money is on Jackson.
  16. Nice, I just sent you a PM. Thanks.
  17. And Chris Young was 26. Otuska was 33. It was a hilariously bad trade for the Rangers, and I still have a hard time accepting Daniels as a good GM because of it 8 years later. I just hope we can dump the aging Rizzo and Wood for Mike Adams this offseason. Also, Young and Gonzalez had a combined salary of $716,000 in 2005.
  18. I'm looking for tickets for basically any game after June 7 if there are any season ticket holders that are looking to offload a few (either 2 or 4 would probably be good). I'm helping to organize a benefit in support of a scholarship that was set up in memory of my cousin who passed away from lymphoma in November. We're putting together some baskets to be raffled off and were hoping to include a few Cubs tickets in one of them. I figured I'd come here first since I know there's a handful of season ticket holders here. If anyone is willing to sell a few tickets, let me know. Thanks!
  19. I almost posted in the thread in rants about Rosenbloom, etc. about this. Every time Rogers spoke I wanted to interrupt him with the "no points, god have mercy on your soul" bit. Every time. It was a good reminder that I only like sports radio when they aren't talking about the teams I actually care about. Yeah, I've been in my car more than usual lately, so I've been listening to a lot more sports talk radio. I can't 100% verify this one, but I'm pretty certain that I heard Fred Huebner and a caller lamenting Tom Thibodeau's inability to get past the Celtics in Round 1 of the 2009 NBA playoffs. Seriously.
  20. Jesse Rogers was on ESPN Radio the other night advocating a Jeff Samardzija trade to the White Sox centering around Erik Johnson and, I believe, Tim Anderson. The rationale was basically that he would "look good in a Sox uniform" and a rotation with Sale and Shark would be good. How does this guy have a job covering the Cubs, or baseball at all?
