  1. Rich mother [expletive] Harden.
  2. I've read that Paul was offered a chance to play here with the possibility that he would eventually have to walk on. Not sure how solid that info is though. Even then, that's getting ahead of ourselves. Cliff has to make it out of Lawrence uncommitted before I get too worked up. This is the only kind of thing that would make sense to me. There's almost no chance we lose anyone to the NBA after this season and I can't really see anyone losing their scholarship unless there was already an understanding in place.
  3. I may have asked this before, but are any of the Illinois boards out there better than Loyalty? I lurk on Loyalty, and it can be great because of the handful of posters that have seemingly solid inside info, but my god, 80% of the posts on there are awful.
  4. I know nothing about him but Illinois needs to land this kid.
  5. Snider to announce his decision tonight. Since that news broke a half hour ago, six people have switched their Crystal Ball Predictions to Illinois. Up to 74% for Illinois. Ok, now I'll allow myself to be excited.
  6. Yup, I saw that theory floating around on another board. I actually somehow had more trouble remembering Jackson's name than XRM's.
  7. Yeah. Last year all the talk surrounded Xavier Rathan Mayes and Demtrius Jackson right after Nunn committed, and look how that turned out. I'm not going to get my hopes up about either guy or read anything into Snider bumping up his visit just yet.
  8. Actually, among players with at least 190 PAs, he's 27th out of 329, so you're not too far off.
  9. here, here's one! http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/3132989/indiansderp.gif
  10. quick, someone post a .gif before this thread gets even more off topic than Random Cubs Musings.
  11. I count 3 not in any system - Rodon, Tanaka and Hoffman. What am I missing? Nothing. Those are the only 3.
  12. I highly doubt this. And those guys all being top 25 wouldn't be all that surprising. Parks was talking about it as a possibility in June or July. I bet it has, that ranking has a few strange issues. I guess a good way to get an idea would be to see how McDaniel has ranked Soler in the past. I'm not sure if this list was created by McDaniel but Soler did not crack the top 50. http://sbb.scout.com/a.z?s=381&p=9&c=12&nid=287&lnid=287&pid=88&yr=2013
  13. Hasn't he lost quite a bit of weight since he was drafted? I mean he could obviously still stand to lose more, but I don't think motivation to get in shape is an issue.
  14. out of curiosity, where can i find this MLE calculator?
  15. everyone outside of buxton has warts, so it really just depends on how he finishes up and what context prospect evaluators put his season in. Taveras - injured most of the year Sano - contact rate, might not be a 3B. Bogaerts - graduated. Lindor - Will be a shortstop, but is a slap hitter Bradley - Too many walks Walker - 1.4 WHIP in AAA Yelich - Graduated. Correa - Hitting the [expletive] out of the ball in a level he's too good for, but confusingly hasn't been promoted. I think Taveras has locked up enough good will to still be #2. Also, depending on what the publication uses for qualifications, Bogaerts could easily still be eligible. Hopefully a publication like BA will rate Correa, Lindor and Sano lower, but who knows. Heck, Callis said he preferred Bryant to Baez just two weeks ago. Parks is on Twitter saying he still likes Sano and Lindor over Baez. I really don't understand how anyone can prefer Lindor over Baez at this point.

But [expletive] it, I'm taking Javy.
  17. With Bogaerts graduating to the majors, does Baez have a realistic shot at #2 prospect in baseball this offseason. Looking at BP's midseason top 50, I'm not sure there's a prospect aside from Buxton that I'd definitely put ahead of him. Is that going overboard?
  18. This is awesome.
  19. I don't understand all the talk about DeJesus returning to the Cubs next year. I can't imagine the Nationals, who are 9.5 games out of the second wild card spot right now, would have dealt for him if they don't plan to hang onto him next year. Also, why is he being talked about as a bench bat for Washington? He's been worth more WAR than Span in about 60% as many plate appearances.
  20. The timing does seem kind of odd, but he is under control for next year. Their 2014 starting lineup is basically already set now.
  21. It's hard to feel sorry for a billionaire who wasn't smart enough to understand how much debt he was taking on while spending tons of money on other things. As for the empty seats, as soon as they put together a roster of players that are worth watching, the seats will be filled again. holy [expletive]. you can't even remember the original point you were trying to make.
