  1. I went reliever, mostly because I truly don't know what SPs are going to be available. Looking at the teams that are likely to be selling based on the standings today, no names really jump out at me as potential SP targets. Going into the season, Gray seemed like a nice option, but I don't know what's going on there. Hammel makes me nervous and I would love to find an upgrade, but I don't know if it's out there. Picking up another late inning reliever to come into games in the 7th or 8th, keep Strop & Hector fresh, and bump everyone else down a slot could be a nice solution. Hammel and Hendricks can go 5 or 6 and then Maddon can dip into the pen knowing he has quite a bit of depth to work with. Disclaimer: I know the pen has been really good already, but I like the idea of shortening games by putting together one of those three-headed monster pens like KC or NYY, with guys like Warren and Grimm to throw on top of them.
  2. Jimmy Nelson's ERA is between Gerrit Cole and Cole Hamels, he is a good pitcher. Even if they were all terrible, this is baseball, these things happen. Please proceed to get a grip at your earliest convenience. Okay - this isn't a fullblown meltdown here. I'm allowed to express mild disdain when our offense goes on a three-game slump against three pitchers who combine for league average performance, just like any other user. You're (fairly) being judged on your entire miserable body of work. It's like the phrase "get a grip" was literally coined for you.
  3. Cubs-Marlins in 2005. Best seats I've ever had at a professional sporting event. 2 rows off the field right by the Marlins on-deck circle. For whatever reason, the group of guys in front of us zeroed in on Paul Lo Duca for the entire game, and were just relentless. Even when other Marlins players were on deck, these dudes were heckling them about Paul Lo Duca. A good chunk of the jokes were about his height. The one that sticks in my memory is when Lo Duca was taking some hacks in the on-deck circle, one of the guys shouts "Hey Paul, stand up!" So simple, but I couldn't stop laughing. Most of the Marlins players, including Lo Duca, acknowledged these guys and were good sports about it. Their focus on the target was impressive. Since then, I've had it in my head that Lo Duca is like 5-4 or something. I was shocked to look it up just now and learn that he is actually 5-10.
  4. Depending on the return, I wouldn't be overly upset if Almora were traded for pitching. I would hope the front office can avoid including him in any deals, but if they can get a young, talented pitcher with a few years of control, fine. I really, really don't want them trading Contreras. His timeline fits in so nicely with the roster spots opening up at catcher over the next two offseasons.
  5. i wouldn't say sontensei really had any tools or skills to speak of. oh you were prolly talking about heyward nevermind
  6. i wouldn't say sontensei really had any tools or skills to speak of.
  7. This was a sontensei trademark.
  8. I can't believe I've gotten to the point that I'm disappointed whenever Ross isn't in the lineup.
  9. Who cares? That has to be sarcasm. I assumed so. But really, if they got to hang onto Almora in the deal Logan proposed, let Dex walk in the offseason, how ridiculous would a defensive outfield of Almora, Trout, & Heyward be?
  10. Yeah, I was thinking these guys aren't really showing any loyalty to the current (and much cheaper) Cubs. What would become of Almora? Who cares?
  11. I know he's off to a rough start, but this does not even come close.
  12. Lackey is Tori, because his presence will always be confusing and uncomfortable.
  13. That interior seems like it could be really strong. Not too sold on Leno or Massie.

  15. Just from reading this, I think I am hoping for A'Shawn Robinson or Vonn Bell. Maybe Darian Thompson? http://www.profootballweekly.com/2016/04/29/potential-day-two-nfl-draft-targets-for-chicago-bears/aojq5hi/
  16. Len seemed peeved when he called it. Len has no use for measly doubles.
  17. With a strong enough draft, I could see it.
  18. Aaron Leming doesn't believe that Norman to the Bears is very likely.
