I'll have to agree. Hendry sucks. He's been living off the fumes of the Ramirez/Lee trades. Five outs from the World Series to 20 games under .500 in three years is quite a massive drop-off. And it's all been under his watch.
http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/sports_columnists/article/0,1299,DRMN_83_4909894,00.html "Girardi has had friends making it known in Chicago that he would like the Cubs job. The Cubs, however, aren't interested."
Stupid coaching staff still made the final decision. Shouldn't let a player who has never been seriously injured and doesn't know how his body would respond with his wrist not at 100% make the decision. If the player says he's good to go and doctors can't find anything structurally wrong, you can fault the team for letting him play. Until D-Lee swung the bat, you don't know how his wrist would respond. There was absolutely no reason for him to come back UNTIL he was 100%. Even Ron Santo commented that he couldn't get to the inside pitch and he wasn't swinging correctly. Let's see, the estimate for his return was the All-Star break and he came back two weeks early. Now he's on the D.L. Just the only consistent offensive player on the team, why not rush him back? No one could have seen that coming.
I also read that the Jones/fan argument entailed the fan saying Dusty should be fired and Jones calling him a "racist". I have a sick feeling when Dusty is fired the whole race issue will be brought up.
Once again, I'll point out that Stone was one of the few people last year and this year who continually insisted the Cubs would/will make the playoffs. Being critical and being bitter are two different things.
I'm glad someone posted this. The Cardinals have a pitcher they deem crappy and drop him. The Cubs have a pitcher everyone but them knows is crappy yet continue to pitch him.
WHY IS RUSCH STILL ON THIS TEAM????? Wouldn't this plan be a little more logical?: See if anyone wants Maddux. I think it's safe to say he shouldn't be in next years plans. Pitch Marshall, Guzman and Marmol the rest of the year with Prior and Z. Then next offseason, the status of the starting pitching might be a little more clear. But I forgot, Hendry thinks this current team is O.K.
