  1. Actually, it's more RBI's and HR's than everyone besides ARam, more doubles than everyone but Lee and Soriano, more total bases than everyone but Ramirez and Lee. Of players with at least 50 PA's he has a higher OPS than everyone but Ramirez and Lee. Not bad for a guy just flailing away for HR's. Oh, so he has better stats than everyone on the Cubs not named Lee, Ramirez or Soriano? The Sosa man-love crowd is a weeeeird bunch. Well, Sosa is a man. Being a good to great baseball player will inspire love. I hope you were being sarcastic, as all available evidence would prove (sample size be damned) that this team would obviously would benefit from having Sosa in the lineup. I didn't know you could transfer stats from team to team and assume that's how the player would automatically be performing. And as far as a great baseball player inspiring "love"? I don't think so. My wife and children inspire love for me. A man playing baseball doesn't really do if for me. Sorry.

  3. I'm sticking by my guns on this one. Lou is learning the hard way what "Cubs Baseball" is all about.
  4. And now 1.5 behind Houston......
  5. Come on in everyone. Plenty of room.
  6. I know they're not going to win the World Series.
  7. Only jerks think about themselves. What a selfish jerk. I think this is when Sammy Sosa says, "Who's Josh Towers?" How dare anyone criticize the mighty Sammy.
  8. Yea, that's totally off base that someone could call Wrigley a "big bar". I think the Bleachers alone confirm that statement. Cub fans shouldn't get so bent out of shape about things like this. Who cares what A.J. thinks? If you like to go there and get smashed, have fun. If you like to go there to watch a game, great.
  9. The Cubs are now 6 games out. But don't be a fatalist. It's way too early. Everything will be fine.
  10. Bingo!!!! Amazing that after 99 years of failure, fans who write the team off early are labeled "fatalists". That's what's hilarious.
  11. Never too early. I would be absolutely shocked if this current team could play consistently enough to make up a 5 game deficit.
  12. Don't bring this up around the Sammy fans. Or the corking, the steroid question or the fact that he's a phony. How a fan could call him a "class act" is puzzling.
  13. yea, preach on. Because only a true fan would look past the crappy play of his favorite team and refuse to boo. That's taking a stand.
  14. Ernie Banks is making a comeback? WHER!? Banks: .274/.330/.500 (avg/obp/slg) Sammy: .274/.345/.537 ( " " ) Banks: 512 HR Sammy: 589 HR Sosa edges Banks..not by much..but he does. Sosa: Proven cheater Banks : Not Don't even compare the two. Ridiculous
  15. For God's sake, let it go. He's not on the Cubs anymore. The manlove for a proven cheater is baffling.
  16. Where is Santo on this list? He's not really a broadcaster, never mind.
  17. You've been reading Gordon Wittenmyer. Wood hasn't even pitched in MLB for 10 years... Anyway, anything he gives is gravy. Pardon me, he started in 98 which would make this his 9th year, which makes 11 trips to the DL even more sick. Sorry for the egregious error. And by the way, I've never read Gordon. Anyway, gravy is hard to give from the DL.
  18. Is there any other club that has invested more time and money on a pitcher that has been on the DL 11 times in 10 years?
  19. "Murton, Moore and Dempster for Ichiro Suzuki"? Maybe if Murton is hitting about .340 and Dempster has 25 saves.
  20. How can a manager be graded when he hasn't even managed a regular season game yet?
  21. You have got to be kidding? Right? You single out the Score670....many of the hosts are Sox fans....so they will be pro-Sox. And the team won the frikkin World Series recently.....is supposed to be reported negatively? In spite of the Cubs....ahem.....less than spectacular history...they are still THE team in town....besides the Bears. NO, I'm not kidding! What's your point? The Score is the number one sports talk radio station in town; they just recently took over as The Home of the White Sox (from ESPN AM 1000). Balanced reporting is what I ask for because the station still has more Cub fans as listeners... It's odd, they actively try to keep Cubs fans happy with their positive commercials about how they talk about the Cubs but most of the talk is ridiculous. They spend more time talking about Wood & Prior than anything good that's happening in Cubs camp. Which they've been doing long before they took over as the Sox flagship. The Cubs and Sox talk has been the same since I started listening about 8 years ago. If you want poms-poms and balloons, you're not going to get it there. They are going to call the Cubs and Sox out when they feel it's necessary. The hosts are paid to give their OPINIONS, which one either agrees or disagrees with. Just like on this board...it's one persons opinion. And wouldn't most talk about Prior and Wood have a negative angle to it, since, how do I put this.........they haven't been healthy in three fricking years. P.S. Terry Boers, number 1 crotchety old man, has already said the Cubs will be in the Series this year. Whatever man. All I hear is Sox cheerleading and spinning. I want the real story not manufactured crap. All they do is focus on things that aren't important to the Cubs. "Larry Horse" is an interesting Boers & Bernstein name. It's funny that you mentioned Boers... I know what Terry said b/c I listen to them everyday. BTW, saying the Cubs are going to the Series isn't what I'm looking for; just talk about the roster and not about two pitchers who aren't the focus of the team this season. Prior & Wood shouldn't be the story this year. PERIOD. There are far more relevant things to talk about this offseason. So Prior and Wood are "things that aren't important to the Cubs"? Wow. I would say with a healthy Wood and Prior, the road to the title would be a bit easier. And Prior and Wood will be a "story" every year until they aren't on the team, because this organization put so much stock in them the last three years. And aren't you in the least bit curious why Prior has gone from can't miss to pitching against minor leaguers? But I guess since he may not be on the roster, he should be on the Score's and the fans pay-no-mind list. And I'll be honest, B & B aren't even my favorite hosts. Mully and Hanley beat them by a mile.

  23. I could frankly care less if anyone likes/hates Sosa. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their opinion. The problem I have is when people who don't like Sosa verbally bash those that actually still think of him in a positive light. Seriously, implying that people are narrow-minded for thinking fondly of a guy that was one of the best players in franchise history is a bit much. Unless, of course, you meant "myopic" and "ridiculous" in their rarely used flattering sense. And the people who like Sosa bash those who don't. It goes both ways. As you said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. "Ridiculous" was used to describe the Sammy bashing.
  24. And I could tell you about Sammy corking his bat...."I'm in the house"....him responding to a reporter's question if the Cubs were still his team "What the **** do you think?"...Sammy mysteriously forgetting his english during the steroid hearings...For some unknown reason his boombox being smashed up by a teammate.... I'll agree to disagree with the Sammy fans on this one.
