  1. I found this tidbit interesting. While I'm not sure about peripherals and stats such as ISOD, etc. for Berroa, Baseball Reference compares him by age to Todd Walker. These are their stats through similar age ranges. G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG SB CS OPS+ Angel Berroa 2001-2003 3 193 695 108 196 37 8 17 82 39 120 .282 .334 .432 26 5 91 Todd Walker 1996-1998 3 220 766 108 225 54 4 15 84 62 108 .294 .345 .433 28 7 101
  2. Culpepper's career certainly spiraled quickly. Nobody wants him, he doesn't want to be traded, and this is not going to be a good situation. I wonder if they could do better than a 7th rounder if they do trade him? Can't think of anybody desperate for a QB right now off the top of my head.
  3. i don't even remember why he was banned I didn't even know he was banned. I wondered why he hadn't posted in a while.
  4. The problem is, there's just not much else in March. The Madness is great, but the next best thing is Spring Training (which is trumped by the stretch run) - sorry NBA and NHL fans. :) March Madness is my favorite yearly event to watch by far so that trumps it. Although every four years, June is my favorite month. Yeah, March Madness is the only reason I put March over April on my list. It basically comes down to March Madness over the NFL draft for me. And March Madness beats out the draft by a longshot.
  5. This is probably not going to surprise anybody at all, but the Dolphins have announced they are going to pursue trading Daunte Culpepper. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2894921 The interesting thing is, Daunte is apparently trying to refuse any trade.
  6. I said sports all day, though I do switch over to political talk radio and some music off and on. There's a great local morning sports talk show that I listen to heading to work and then another one in the afternoon as I drive home. Problem is, that station is the only one I get that has sports on it and from 12-3 they play the Jim Rome show. So, if I want to listen to sports at lunch, it has to be Rome. :x

  8. After bouncing between a few months, I finally settled on September. Baseball stretch run (especially the once a blue moon the Cubs are in it), NFL and college football starting is just a great period of time. January and March are probably second and third on my list.
  9. I just looked at the prospects of that, and one thing caught my eye. If you went straight by number of posts and 1 matches up with 64 and so on, you have a 1st round matchup of Sulley vs. OMC. I think this would be an absolutely hilarious venture. I'm trying to figure out who I'd be matched up with. In a 64 person tournament, you'd be matched up against EJ in the first round. Why would I be matched against Sully? He has like 2000 more posts than I do. He's ranked 26 and you're 39. Somehow the math works out to get you and him in the first round with 64 spots. By the way, I'm deeply offended I'm not involved in any of these potentials. Dang work, keeping me from posting.
  10. Cause he plays for the Marlins. Also, Americans prefer their legends just like that: Americans. Albert Pujols Vladie David Ortiz Ichiro :D
  11. They didn't. It's tied at one in the top of the second.
  12. The expression on the guy on the left is hilarious.
  13. Welcome to the board, bro! thanks, u like my terrible swing from the picture in my signature? That game they had a photographer taking pictures from the on deck circle and I hit a homer, that was the swing, kinda sad haha you're not gonna impress anyone with that swing, but if it got you a homer, way to go! :D and last thing before i drop this, to make it even better it was a go ahead and eventually game winning homer in the playoff's semi-finals against the state champs. Im clutch, the year before i hit a bottom of the 7th inning Grand Slam in the playoffs to win, i got witnesses, ask at school Uh oh, he said he was clutch. does that doom the cubs or something? A large majority of posters on here don't believe clutch exists.
  14. No, they said Z yesterday. Gooz did well in his last start, didn't he? Yes. 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 K/2 BB. Dumb. That's the Cubs for you. Not that I would agree with this, but do you think they're not so much demoting him, but trying to strengthen the bullpen? I'm thinking Lou talked about Guzman being a better pitcher out of the pen anyway.
  15. I honestly thought he retired by now. Good to see he's still around, though I don't know if he's still productive.
  16. Beat you. :P What is that? 3 losses in a row for the Brewers? And 4 out of their last 5? Now we just need to start winning consistently.
  17. Nice! Maybe that'll cool off the Brewers a bit.
  18. eh, let them have their whipping boy Yeah, I probably should. I just hate to see guys gets dogged for reasons they can't avoid. Izzy is too hot right now. So it has to be jones, I guess. :D Good point.
  19. eh, let them have their whipping boy Yeah, I probably should. I just hate to see guys gets dogged for reasons they can't avoid. So knowing the situation by keeping the runner out of scoring position by not attempting a risky dive is not avoidable? With two out and a three run lead, I don't mind Jacque taking a chance there. Were the situation closer, he shouldn't have dove. He did know the situation and it was an acceptable risk in this situation.
  20. there's the obligatory "bitching every time someone doesn't get a run in from 3rd with less than two outs" More like the obligatory "Jones does not understanding the current situation of the game" because he grounded out? If it were easy to hit a deep fly or get a hit every at bat, I'm sure he would just do that all the time. Somehow it's acceptable to ground out or strike out with the bases empty, but if you do those things with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, then you "don't understand the current situation of the game." He also is great at turning singles into doubles, as just witnessed. It wasn't Jacque's fault. He couldn't make a great catch and Reyes was safe easily at second without a perfect throw. If there is a single up the middle directly at the CF, the runner should not make 2B. Normally I would agree, but Jones dove and the ball rolled around enough for one of the fastest guys in the game to reach second. It was not Jacques fault. I normally would agree with you, that Jaque deserves the benefit of the doubt given that Reyes was running. But after that throw...Jaque lost all credibility. But the throw was meaningless. It didn't look good, but it meant nothing. Reyes wouldn't have been out with a normal throw, didn't advance on the terrible throw.

  24. Reyes hits a very high flyball to center, Jacque playing very deep can't get to the ball - even though he came very close. Reyes takes advantage of the dive and takes second. Runner on second, two out for Chavez who grounds out to Izzy.
