  1. Murton's in the 5 spot because of his power potential. Same with Soriano at 3, and DeRosa at 6. Izturis has a better OBP than Ramirez, Jones, Floyd, Blanco, and Barrett this year-while he shouldn't be considered at all for the 2 spot on a normal day, he's probably the best 2 spot option today. Exactly. Normally I wouldn't want Izzy batting second, but given that he appears to be on a hot streak and we don't have many better options, I don't mind this for a game or two.
  2. What about trading Sean Marshall to Balt. for some real prospects. Marshall is from the Virginia area and is pitching well in Iowa. I don't see him getting another shot for sometime and the Cubs could use him as a bargaining chip to get other prospects to fill other areas of need in the system--shortstop? I'm not for moving Marshall unless they can get something good in return. I would prefer to use Marshall in a package with others (Miller, Jones, Ohman, Eyre, etc) for major league talent. I simply feel he is more valuable in a trade than for a gamble (which most any minor leaguer is).
  3. Wouldn't matter as long as Ward touched first. Does Ward even matter with just one out? So long as Murton scores and they don't double us up, wouldn't the run count? Either Ward or Blanco had to touch 1st or 2nd base respectively. If neither touches and the Nationals tag 2nd and 1st then it's a force DP and Murton's run doesn't count. As long as one of them touches then it eliminates the DP and Murton's run counts. Ok, that's what I was thinking.

  5. Is this definite? Last I heard, they were considering playing him in left some early on after his injury.
  6. With Floyd hurt, Pie could be starting and either Murton or Jones sitting. I would guess (though I hope I'm wrong) Jones in left, Pie in center and DeRosa in right. The question then is, why isn't Murton starting? Not sure, unless his back is bothering him again. EDIT: Yeah, I completely forgot about our 136-million dollar man in center. Thus, Jones in left, Sori in center and DeRosa in right is likely. Though there's a chance Soriano could be in left and Pie in center.
  7. I honestly thought you were about to say we trade them Izzy and they ship Reyes back to us.
  8. What the hell? That doesn't make any sense. I kind of understand the idea of fitting Izturius to theoretically give Guzman some better defense to back him up, but DeRosa in RF instead of Murton or Jacque or Floyd deprives him of some decent offensive support. I hope this isn't actually the lineup. Is Murton in CF? If not I hope that Bruce or another beat writer will give us the real scoop on the situation. Is he hurt? Is he in Lou's doghouse? I highly doubt that Murton will ever start in CF. Floyd's back must still be bothering him if he's not in RF. As far as why no Jacque with Pie in center ... :? Murton has played 1 game in CF so far this season. Edit: Nevermind. That was only 1 inning. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he went to center in the game that Soriano got hurt in. Don't remember exactly why, but he was our best option at the time. It wasn't the game he got hurt in, it was the game he came back in. Soriano pinch-hit for Pie in the 9th down 2 runs to the Cardinals. Jones had already been pinch-hit for earlier in the game, so when Soriano had to come out for the pinch-runner after he doubled there was nobody left but Murton to play CF in the 10th. Aha. I knew him playing in center had something to do with Sori's injury, but wasn't positive how. I remember that now because we were wondering after DeRosa tied the game and we went to extras who would play center. I had horrible thoughts at the time it'd be Floyd.

  10. Mine is still stuck on Fick's third strike. I hate it when my Extra Innings package that I pay for doesn't show me the games I'm paying for.
  11. I'd absolutely love to see the Titans grab him. Which, quite obviously, means they won't have the slightest bit of interest.
  12. If he has half the talent of those two, you've got yourself a player. :D
  13. I doubt that very seriously. Wynn irritated Urban Meyer to no end, nearly prompting him to eliminate the running back position completely. He has nice talent, but never began to come anywhere near the potential. Walker would have been a much better choice in my opinion.
  14. I actually quite like Smith, Filani and Ford. They alone aren't enough, but again the Titan upper management did very well at the end of the draft (Reynaldo Hill is another example of a starter grabbed in the late rounds) while struggling early. As for the complaining, I apologize fellas. I've been pretty negative all weekend, but after the regression this offseason I was really hoping for a strong draft and simply don't feel like this came anywhere close to what we needed. I hope I'm wrong though.
  15. I just looked up a little information-he's about 250, raw, and pretty much purely a situational pass rusher. He had 15 sacks combined the last 2 years. He reminds me alot of Travis LaBoy when he came out. One other thing to note about Ford is that he is extremely fast for a DE, he ran a 4.65 40. Enough with those comparisons, TexasCub.
  16. I just looked up a little information-he's about 250, raw, and pretty much purely a situational pass rusher. He had 15 sacks combined the last 2 years. Excellent. Just exactly what we need about four or five rounds too late. I also like the next pick (despite him being from Florida), Ryan Smith. Solid CB that played pretty well in his only year at Florida. Why can't we make good picks like this in the early rounds?
  17. Anybody familiar with Jacob Ford, DE from Central Arkansas? I like it initially since he's and end and we have one quality end, but know nothing whatsoever about him.
  18. Know anything about him? 6'2" 210lbs and runs about a 4.5 40. He's got very good hands, he finds the ball well and will win the jump ball almost every time. He is probably a #3/4 guy, but in the red zone he is deadly. Finally! A pick I like. Filani sounds completely different than the receivers we already have (what a thought, drafting something you don't already have) and seems to have some nice skills. Hope things continue to pick up for us.
  19. Know anything about him?
  20. Miss St had a great run defense last year so I don't have a terrible problem with the pick. Hopefully he plays more DE than DT though and can rush the passer. We have a serious lack of both of those areas. He had a total of 7 TFL last year. He's definitely not a pass rushers, he's a 2-gap DT that is more of a run stopper. Yet another strange pick by Reinfeldt then. I really don't understand his analysis of our needs. We have Albert Haynesworth, Rien Long, Travis LaBoy and Antwan Odom who are all run stoppers. We need a pass rusher. Oh well.

  22. I hate the Titans. We suck and aren't doing anything to get better.
  23. Packers pick up an extra sixth round pick for letting the Steelers trade up for a punter. Lions trade up with Rams.
  24. Giants take Zak DeOssie, LB from Brown.
  25. Titans take Leroy Harris, OL from NC State. No clue why Reinfeldt feels we need an offensive lineman, but apparently we got one.
