I'll admit you've got me completely confused. :D It would be kind of awesome to see a kid with size 20 feet.
  4. his real name is Exavier Prente Logan Odd spelling of Xavier. I don't really like it. Nook's better. His whole name is terrible. What were his parents thinking? I ask that question quite often. I covered a game with a kid named Sjohn once. Pronounced Sean. Terrible. There's a kid whose name is pronounced Ashola. Kudos if you get the joke or if you can figure out how that name is actually spelled. I see a naughty word in there. Ahhhh...I thought of that for a second but not much longer.

  7. His second appearance in three days apparently. Good news for us.

  9. Not sure where he's getting that Andruw is not a "very good" offensive player. Eight seasons with at least a 113 OPS+, including highs of 126 (2000), 129 (2002), 121 (2003), 133 (2005) and 129 (2006). As can be seen, the highs are spread somewhat evenly throughout his career. I don't see the problem with his offense at all.
  10. How stupid of him not to listen. The Braves are planning to move on in 2008 without him. He is pretty much hurting himself. Andruw's performance this year has nothing to do with the Braves letting him go. His price is far too high for the Braves to afford and Schuerholz has said multiple times he'll have to take a "hometown discount" to stay in Atlanta. The Braves still want him, they just can't afford fair market value.
  11. Not sure exactly what it is, but I'm willing to bet a lot of it is mental. He struggled a whole lot early and seems to just be digging himself a deeper hole. It's almost like he goes to the plate expecting to get out - he has no confidence right now. I think he'll pull out of it sometime this year, but he should be had cheap in the offseason (hint, hint). Also, Schuerholz has said multiple times on broadcasts now, the Braves can't afford to re-sign him unless he takes a serious paycut. He's not willing to right now, but I suspect he'll be forced to in the offseason.
  12. Shoot, i was really hoping for a mermaid. Graham Taylor and a mermaid to be named later for Jacque. :D
  13. So long as we keep winning, I think Jones' whining will probably just be ignored. It'll likely only be a problem if we start losing again.
  14. So $6.6 million wasn't enough for the Marlins? Sheesh...$6.6 million was way too much to begin with Jim. Glad you finally woke up before Larry really stuck it to you. $6.6 mil would be quite a bit to pay a player no longer with the team, but if the deal included Graham Taylor (which Kaplan seems to think it did), it might have been worth it. This kid sounds really good. Also, as far as whether Zell was involved or not, Hendry may have said what he did not wanting to go public that Zell nixed it. The GM never wants to look powerless, which Hendry is if Zell will nix any deal where we're not dumping salary.
  15. Does Penn St play Wisconsin? If so where? I like Penn St this year. I see the Big Ten coming down to Michigan, PSU and Wisconsin. I think Wisconsin will win in the end. they play Wisconsin October 13th at home I like Penn State a lot this year. I think they could be one of, if not the, big national sleeper. They won't beat Notre Dame In Happy Valley? I bet they do. Yeah, second game of the year, with all the youth at key positions and in Happy Valley? I could easily see Notre Dame start the year 0-3 before the inevitable comeback against Michigan State. I hold no grudge against the Irish, but I just think they have too much youth to win early in the year. They won't start 0-3 (I think they'll beat Ga Tech in the opener at home), but 1-2 is not just possible but probable. I'll be extremely impressed with both Weis and Starting Quarterback A if they can pull off a win at State College or Ann Arbor. I don't expect them to start 0-3, but I think it's very possible. Tech has a better QB than last year (Bennett's better than Ball) and the defense is always going to be very good. The biggest problem for Tech this year is they don't have a proven receiver. James Johnson is good, but he's got to prove he can be good without Calvin across from him.

  17. And therein lies the problem for them winning the west. And therein lies the reason they won it last year. The McFadden/Felix Jones running back duo is great, but I don't like the fact that Arkansas doesn't have a passing game at all. Marcus Monk and Robert Johnson are good at receiver, but Casey Dick doesn't need to be a starting QB at a major university. That's going to cost them, in my opinion. I do think Arkansas will be good, don't get me wrong. I just think LSU is going to be really good - if Matt Flynn performs. Despite losing McFadden dropped 180 yards on them last year. I do think LSU is better, but I also refuse to count out the Backs. They certainly shouldn't be counted out, but I think LSU is better this year and Arkansas is worse. Not a definite loss by any means, but not a good omen for the Backs.
  18. I think Kentucky will win 7-8. I wouldn't be surprised to see them pull a big upset or two in the SEC, probably against Arkansas/Tennessee/Georgia. I like Kentucky's offense (except the line), but 7-8 wins is probably top end. I think 6-7 and a bowl bid is likely since they only have four "guaranteed" wins - Eastern Kentucky, Kent State, Florida Atlantic and Miss St. They could beat both S Carolina and Vandy for the six wins, but two big upsets from the group of Louisville, Ark, LSU, Fla, UGA and Tennessee may be stretching it. Woodson would have to be just as good, if not better, than last year for that to have a chance of happening.
  19. I love Chris Nickson. He's a very raw passer, but I think he should develop that well. I question the defense some, but I think they are assured wins over Richmond, Ole Miss (sorry OMC), Eastern Michigan and Miami of Ohio. They also have great chances of beating Wake, Kentucky and South Carolina. The Vandy/Kentucky game could easily be a bowl clincher/eliminator for each team. And too, so long as they don't beat UT, I like to pull for Vandy. I kinda feel sorry for them.

  21. I honestly don't have a clue who wins the East this year, UGA, Florida or Tennessee. I do have a strong feeling, though, whichever wins will lose to LSU in the title game. They're gonna be really good if Matt Flynn does well.
  22. Everything I've seen in publications about Wisconsin is good to very good. Personally, I see nothing really wrong with them except the QB. Not having an experienced quarterback can be very painful, but the Badgers' offensive scheme fits perfectly with taking pressure off the QB. So long as whoever that QB is doesn't do dumb things, you should contend for the Big Ten (if not win it).
  23. I think Tennesse has as good a shot as anybody to win the East this year, despite the questions we have. After losing Bret Smith, Robert Meachem and Jayson Swain (our top three receivers) we have nobody who has played a full year of football at receiver. The veterans are less than inspiring (though could be solid) and the highly talented youngsters are terribly inexperienced. I still hold out hope that Kenny O'Neal (former top FSU recruit) will come in and help immediately. Our only other real weakness is the offensive line and it should improve. We lost Arron Sears, but have a number of good young linemen that hopefully will step up and play well. If so, the running game will automatically be better than last year (when it was horrible). The best thing going for us is that both Georgia and Florida have as many or more questions as us. The Crocs lost 9 of 11 defensive starters from last year, have no running back whatsoever and nobody knows if Tim Tebow can do more than run the ball. Georgia has to improve it's line play and replace both ends from last year. They also need to find a receiver that can catch Matthew Stafford's (incredibly talented sophomore) passes. I figure we will likely finish anywhere from first to third in the East and then probably the top team will lose to LSU in the SEC Championship.
  24. No worries about replacing Jimbo Fisher? Miles had already taken some of the reigns of the offense. That's part of what hastened Fisher's departure. I think we'll be fine there. Another thing that will help you is that Gary Crowton is a very good offensive coordinator. I still prefer Jimbo - great move by FSU by the way - but Crowton's no slouch.
