  1. I don't believe the Bulls terminated his contract. If they did, they still paid him in full, I remember hearing about it in some puff piece about Reinsdorf.
  2. BTW - Jonny Gomes: 26 HR in 388 AB's in MLB Chris Shelton: 27 HR in 440 AB's in MLB Nitpick but Shelton has 486 ABs, not 440. He had 46 ABs in '04, and it's why it's kinda ridiculous to complain about us not picking him up in Rule V. We were contending for the playoffs and didn't have room on the bench for a guy that was never gonna play, the Tigers were coming off of a historically bad season.
  3. Who was that a bad trade for?
  4. Actually, I think you could. If there's language in a contract saying you can't do certian things, and a player gets hurt doing that, then I don't think they're liable for some money There you go. And if it's been an issue in the past with the Sox, then they should have something in his contract. If they don't, then it's their own fault. There's also the issue of not having your best pitcher playing. It's not just money. And I'm not so sure that would fly by the union. If putting that type of language in the contract, I'm assuming it would have to be an option to void the contract, not just not pay him.
  5. Which explains Neifi's one start. Hendry has gotten off way too easily on this trading Walker business. Dusty seems like he's backed Walker every step of the way.
  6. Todd Helton would win the gold glove every year if Lee wasn't in the NL. He probably should anyways.
  7. Yeah, but that's essentially what the standings are intended for. The standings are to decide who goes to the playoffs. Since neither a playoff seeding tiebreak or wild card playoff tiebreaker is necessary, the Cards Cincy, and Milwaukee are all in 3rd place. Baseballreference backs this up listing the Cards as 2nd place in NL Central in '01 despite being tied with the Stros because their placing mattered for playoff seeding. In '05, the Mets and Marlins are both listed as 3rd place in the NL East as their ranking didn't matter for seeding or wild card playoffs.
  8. I already lost my backup 2B(Kinsler) This sucks.
  9. Well technically the Cards, Cincy, and Milwaukee are all in 3rd place as tiebreakers only come into play when determining ranking for the playoffs or for wild card playoff home field advantage or bye scenarios.
  10. The Bulls would absolutely not beat the Heat in the playoffs. Barring injury to Shaq or Wade.
  11. People saying Patterson was bad in '04 is one my biggest pet peeves on this board.
  12. I agree with Truf, in no way was that a charge, but I do think it probably should've been a no call. But that was a defensive foul before it shoulda been an offensive.
  13. Cedeno popped out to the 2nd baseman, and Neifi hit a lazy fly ball to RF.
  14. Don't days spent on the 60 day DL count as major league service time? Not that it should be our chief concern, but it's not a great idea to start the arb. clock on Dope already so we can have Restovich for 60 days. RELEASE BYNUM.
  15. In theory, you may have a point. But in application, Dusty won't use the 12th guy except for blowouts. There were times last year that the 12th pitcher -- frequently Bartosh or Hill -- didn't pitch for 10, 11, 12 days. If that's how Dusty is going to use that guy, I'd rather have the extra hitter. I'd rather be without the extra hitter, so that way Dusty would optimally use his bench rather than waste a PH oppurtunity in the 5th or 6th with Bynum. That way if things go extras we have the better hitter in Rusch or Z hitting instead of Bynum. Yeah, that's how little I think of him.
  16. Saying you wouldn't trade your top 5 prospects for Johan Santana just seems insane. Even if he doesn't pitch as many innings/starts as guys did all the time...back in the 1800s.
  17. Insert standard Astacio is ugly joke.
  18. 6 feet, 180. Looks like 2B to me.
  19. Of those 5, Aldridge, Gay, Thomas, Bargnai, Noah. But I'm pretty sure I'd have somebody else up there instead of Bargnai or Noah, but it's far too late to figure out who.
  20. Zambrano emotional mistake = Bob Howry HR.
  21. We'll lose half our hits that way.
  22. I agree with CFICT. It's unlikely that any of those prospects will reach the heights Hernandez will. It's the old trade the unknown for the proven. Except the proven is 20 years old an pre-arbitration.
  23. What is the relevance of this with regards to Pierre? Nobody's going to run the slowest player in the league out to CF every day. The point is, thus far, Juan hasn't gotten on base enough to be a good leadoff hitter, whether he's fast or not.
  24. Would there be a sarcastic eye roll for Pagan getting a spot start as well?
