    Saying somebody had DH written all over him doesn't necessarily mean he shouldn't be presently playing in the Cincy OF. It's just a way of saying he's a poor fielder. At least that was my interpretation.

    I never said Dunn shouldn't be an everyday OF, but I've never seen him look like anything better than a poor defender.

    I don't think that's the point. He's still better than Konerko so expect his contract to be in that neighborhood. The Cubs don't want him to become a FA and have other teams attempt to drive up the price. I'm sure some teams would be very willing to overpay so the Cubs will want to be generous without breaking the bank. The best time to do that is now. But Konerko won a world series so he's clutch or something. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Lee get a lesser contract than Konerko.

    PMR has Dunn a little above average for a leftfielder, above such players as Shannon Stewart, Jason Bay, and Todd Hollandsworth. He's always had relatively good speed for a guy his stature, and obviously he's not going to drop many more balls that hit him in the glove. He'll never win any gold gloves for sure, but he's far from a fish out of water in LF. And UZR had Alou as an above average defender in '04. I don't trust defensive metrics for much of anything. EDIT: Upon looking at the link more closely Alou is also rated as above average for last year. (Even better than Dunn) There's just far too much noise for defensive metrics to be very reliable. If I hadn't seen Alou lumber around the OF incompetently for 3 years, maybe I'd buy into the data a little bit more.

    Red Sox can't offer Shoppach, he went to the Indians in the Crisp trade. Coco Crisp (And the worthless Josh Bard) cost Andy Marte and Kelly Shoppach. None of those packages above are really close to being worth Cabrera.

    At least the Nats have new ownership to look forward to,(eventually) and with that the hope that Bowden will be fired before the ink is dry on the purchase. The Reds were just bought and have amazingly managed to get worse since then. Who would ever think fans would be pining for Dan O' Brien and Carl Lindner to come back.

    I realized as I went to bed that I totally had things screwed up. I knew they wouldn't have to remove guys to reinstate 15 Day DL guys, jstu kinda brainfarted at the time. Rapada hasn't been above A ball and is a relief prospect. Hill has already dominated AAA, I just don't see much more development necessary for him. He's not a young guy anymore. This move is all part of standard baseball paranoia. Oh my God what if one of our 2 lefties in the pen go down??? We'd only have one guy to waste out of the pen by pitching to only one batter!! Rusch should be throwing out of the pen once those 3(Only 1 in my opinion, but I'm sure Dusty will stick with him till all 3 are back) are back. Being pessimistic and saying they won't be back til Mid-June, you're rostering a guy based on Class A stats in relief and a very small sample size in ST. All for 2 months of paranoia because you can't survive with only 1 lefty in the pen. It's absurd.

    If they do, I'm sure the Reds will be stupid and demand the pitcher be Contreras or Garland. Every time I get pissed off about the Cubs, I just tell myself, at least I'm not a Reds fan.

    Only 60 Day DL doesn't count towards the 40 man roster. Rapada being added is horrible mismanagement of the 40 man roster. This move also makes me worry that one of the 3 pitchers is going to the 60 day DL. Beyond all that though, this means 3 guys are going to need to be removed from the 40 man when those 3 come back, it's like Hendry can't actually look 2 months in advance to realize the problems move like this cause. All for the sake of having a 6th lefty pitcher on the 40 man?? Mind numbing.

    I didn't even stay on campus for Game 7, I drove to Wrigleyville to be in the neighborhood for the game. That drive back SUCKED.

    How??? Probably drafted minor leauge players as well. A LOT of minor leaguers. That draft also must've taken roughly 17 hours.
