  1. I'm a Cubs fan. I'll bring up that trade whenever I please. At least give me that. Fine! Dontrelle and I just hope you enjoyed your time with Matt Clement! As a preemptive strike against Lou Brock I'll say Adam Kennedy won a WS ring and Edmonds didn't :) I try not to use ammo created 20 or so years before my birth, but I can't speak for any of the other Cards fans. Good point, it's not there's a lack of ammo from your life.
  2. I really thought that was a great trade last year. Wonder what happened to him.
  3. It's all a matter of how likely it is that they can rescuse the dried up husk of Ponson's career though. From my viewpoint, it's not too likely.

  5. Yep, that's why Jacque Jones is in RF, because Hendry was too busy thinking about what beer to sell the bleachers to.
  6. So what is your solution??? Never call up a pitcher since even when we give them innings in the minors they're still mediocre? You're all over the place here. Yeah, like Mitre, Koronka, Wellemeyer, etc.
  7. I still have no clue what you're getting at regarding the Cubs history of promoting pitchers. The only guy who had as little experience in the minors as Marshall(that I can think of) was Prior. You act as if the Cubs every year promote some guy from Class A and he flops. Nobody's had success from the Cubs(besides Prior) on this path because nobody else has taken it.
  8. Mark Prior was ML ready out of college. Darn near every scout in the country thought that. Kerry Wood pitched 151 innings above A ball before being called up to Chicago. Do you really think Marshall has more talent than Wood (at that point in his career)? You have to be kidding me. You got me!!! Do you really think that no pitcher should ever be promoted to the majors until they have at least 55 innings above A ball?
  9. Dontrelle Willis is a pitcher who pitched fewer than 54 innings above A ball before a decent stint in the majors. That's what TT was saying.
  10. I can think of another Cubs minor league left handed starter that had less than 50 IP above A Ball.... And Hill got lit up in the bigs. http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2005/writers/james_quintong/07/13/secondhalf.duds/t1_willis_allstar_all.jpg Willis? LMAO. That only undermines the argument that the Cubs org. knows what pitchers to call up to the big league team with limited minor league innings (much less trade away). Like Mark Prior. Or Kerry Wood who didn't have much minor league experience when he was called up.
  11. I can think of another Cubs minor league left handed starter that had less than 50 IP above A Ball.... Took the words right out of my mouth. Cedeno did put up a 355/.403/.518 line last year in AAA. It's not like he's coming straight from his disaster of a minor league career up to '03. I don't know what happened to Ronny, but he really seemed to turn things around in '04.
  12. Care to take any bets that the 6th place team isn't within 6 games of the 1st place team? Heck, I'll even wager that the Cardinals win 90 or more games in 2006. It's 8 games, but yeah there's not a chance in hell.
  13. I don't think K-Town needs any explanation on how to do any of that.
  14. If the Cubs manage to go 7-7 during that stretch I will be ecstatic. My worry is that the clock has struck 12 for Glendon "[expletive]" Rusch. That's 8 games against horrible teams, I'd be disappointed with a .500 record.
  15. And Chris Duncan probably looks like a better option than the other left-fielders THIS spring, but he only knows how to play first base. So why do you think that Pujols isn't being moved to the outfield NOW, so Duncan can play first base? Do you have a theory for that? My post had nothing to do with now, it had to do with you falsely stating that Pujols was moved to stop him from being injured.
  16. The reason Pujols was moved to first was because the Cards traded Tino Martinez for magic beans and they liked the options that they brought into ST for LF better than the options they brought in for 1B. If you remember at the time, Steve Cox was being discussed as the possible 1B with Pujols still in LF.
  17. Polanco went .316 .347 .418 in '00. Paquette never had a season that good in his entire career. He was certainly not as good at the time.
  18. The people blasting him in '02 were idiots. He was playing on 1 ankle because McClendon was too stupid to DL or rest him.
  19. I wonder if K-Town would have a problem if people put Lee in LF and Pujols at 1B. Nah, he's probably just protecting the integrity of the position of LF. You know, the spot where you usually have to be a great defender...LF
  20. What if McGuire and Sosa say they didn't do steriods? It sounds to me like you've already convicted them. What about other players, Termell Sledge, Palmerio, and the dozen or so minor leaguers who have been caught? The point is I'd give them a free pass. Free from prosecution. So they can tell what they know. If it's nothing, then it's nothing, but I'm betting it's something and this would ensure that their rep. will be intact. Worked for the grand jury testimony...whoops!
  21. The Reds are the worst team in baseball that is actually trying. The Marlins and Royals are both worse, but they just don't care. The Reds seem to care but are just an awful team. At least the Pirates have young pitching that could all break out at once in a miracle and finish ahead of the Cubs, but there is absolutely nothing about the Reds that makes me think they're better than anyone besides the Marlins.(Give Bowden another year though, and he'll ensure the Nats are below them too)
  22. According to baseball-almanac's box score and my quick calculations in my head Haddix's was 105 as well.
  23. I'd like to know exactly who they're investigating.
  24. Maybe even David Aardsma, would do the trick. But IF the Cubs acquire Kielty, does that mean Pagan doesn't make the team, then? I would guess Theriot misses the team in that event.
  25. The real problem is the Cards have run away and hid with the division the past 2 years. You have Ponson, who even if he manages to bounce back is still going to be remarkably average, and you have Reyes who has the potential to be very very good. I know you shouldn't get complacent just because you dominated the division the past couple years, but wouldn't this be an ideal situation to break in a yougn guy and let him take his lumps. Especially when you consider the alternative?
