In case anybody missed it, I'm leading all 3 leagues.

IIRC, it was Sosa for Soriano, Nick Johnson, Ricky Ledee, and I think Ted Lilly. Just imagine if we had pulled that off. I'm almost positive Johnson wasn't in the talks cause the Cubs were sold on Choi at the time. The way I rememberred it Soriano is who the Cubs wanted but the Yankees balked. I'm almost positive Jackson Melian was involved in there somewhere, and I want to say the Yanks countered the Cubs asking for Soriano by offering D'Angelo Jimenez. EDIT: Did soem googling and came up with this page listing the rumored deals, though it does point out that the end that the best trade for the Cubs listed was unlikely to happen since the Yanks would be giving up too much, so my memory may have actually been right on Soriano being a deal-breaker. That same year Juan Gonzalez rejected a deal to New York and going to Detroit was going to be Randy Kiesler, Ricky Ledee, and Drew Henson. Sosa may have commanded a little more in a deal, but odds are not too much.

Isn't it kind of crazy that Penn St. is still ranked? Isn't there somebody else a little more deserving?

Was Tate's injury just a one week thing, or is it something that's going to linger?

ND didn't beat any good teams last year and we don't know how good Penn State and Michigan will end up being this year. You can't give a team credit for winning a game early in the season against a highly ranked team if that team ends up having an average year that year. It's just like with Pittsburgh and Michigan last year. Those games looked like big victories and many people continued to mention that Notre Dame beat Michigan when they were ranked #3 in the nation and they beat a ranked Pittsburgh team. Neither of those teams ended up being very good last year so why should ND get credit for beating a good team when said team ends up being no more than an average team. If Penn State finishes the year 5-6, it's obvious that ND's victory over them wasn't actually that impressive. I would argue that Notre Dame's victory over PSU is still pretty impressive even if they finish 5-6, just not as impressive. It doesn't get much more one-sided than 41-3. So, how impressive is Auburn's win over Miss St or LSU's over Arizona? We don't know. What if Arizona finishes 4-7 and Penn State finishes 5-6? Which team's victory was more impressive? That's why it's stupid to start clamoring about strenght of schedule after two [expletive] games! Well the Pac-10 sucks at football so LSU's was definitely the least of the 3. :)

I don't like running up the score, I just fail to see why it matters how you're trying to score in a game that is still in doubt. And for me 3 possessions with 6 minutes and change left in the 3rd quarter is a game that is still in doubt.

YEAH BABY! What a win by the Hoosiers on the road. I know it's just a MAC team, but if IU was in the MAC they'd be a 4th place team at best. KLew took them to school! Time for the 'Dawgs to go in your house next week and make it two weeks in a row that a Big 10 team loses to a I-AA team :wink: NIU lost to Ohio...Horvath was garbage again. His record as a starter with NIU: 7-8. Why Dan Nicholson (who won 3 straight games last year to get us into the MAC Title game) isn't starting is beyond me. Novak's obsession with veterans starting is probably going to screw NIU out of yet another MAC Championship this season. I'm shocked Nicholson hasn't been starting from the get go. He impressed last year in his run as starter and Horvath as you said has been garbage. Plus, most importantly Nicholson went to my high school and I've hung out with him. So there's that.

I'd love to hear from a neutral party on this, unfortunately if you're not a Notre Dame fan, you're a wild eyed Notre Dame hater.

Maybe it's just my paranoia about all my teams, but I didn't feel comfortable with the score until ND ran the fake punt. 24 points in the 3rd quarter isn't exactly game over.

Well trading Dope right now might make less sense than waiving him would.

He's also broadcasting to a large audience. If he spent the whole broadcast spouting off stats that 99% of the people watching have never heard of he'd be a terrible announcer.

Cedeno isn't getting waived, and I really doubt Dope is either.
