  1. That's your choice but that isn't what anyone said. That's just my general list of baseball absurdities that I keep hearing that either mean nothing are just not very bright. Wow...you'd rather see guys jog down the first base line on a grounder than run hard? That's absurd? I'll give you the same exact team as I have. Your teams jogs for flyballs and running out grounders while mine hustles. I'll bet my team wins more games. If they're of equal talent.
  2. A mix of rookies and young players with vets is exactly what I want. That's how you afford high priced free agents is by having your league average LF make 400,000 a year. The only things I would set in stone right now for next year are C: Barrett 1B: Lee 3B: Ramirez LF: Murton Bench MI: Theriot Bench C: Soto SP: Zambrano SP: Hill SP: Prior RP: Wuertz RP: Ohman RP: Aardsma RP: Eyre RP: Howry Obviously if somebody offers you a great deal for the players above you take it, but I don't see any trades that would be worth it to us for any of those guys. I'm not saying overhaul the rest of the roster, but be flexible with everybody else.
  3. I don't think McCain is viewed as anything like George Sr. or Reagan. Just cause he's old doesn't mean people can't relate to him. It's his ideas, not his looks. And there's no way the first woman president is black.
  4. Ugly.
  5. Brady Quinn looked just awful out there. Horrendous game. I was really confident about beating USC before this game, and now it looks like USC would put another '02 pasting on ND. Ugly, ugly, ugly.
  6. I laugh at Syracuse's thoughts that they could match our futility!! I-L-L!!
  7. I am supposed to be but since I got hospitalized this week with an infection it looks pretty unlikely. Now I have the tough choice of deciding which friend to give the tickets to. Hiii friend!! But seriously, here's hoping my sister's back continuues to act up and I'll be sitting on the field, Michigan endzone tomorrow.
  8. That has nothing to do with the protest, it's an Oriole fan tradition to emphasize the O in the anthem.
  9. Nah he just has no nuts.
  10. Bleachers? Yup. When the baghead revolution comes, you'll all have me to thank.
  11. I improved my game record to 2-0 last night and had probably the most fun I've had at a Cubs game in a long time. (Every game I've gone to during pennant races they've lost) Last night's experience is why I scoff at people for complaining about peopel going to the games. Baseball games are fun. They're entertainment, and I'm not going to deprive myself of entertainment just because the team is horrible. It was little battles like getting to watch Scott Moore start at third, wearing a bag on my head as the Cubs sunk to a 7-0 hole, harassing J.D. Drew from the 4th inning on, (Stephen woulda caught that one JD!!)endless Les Walrond jokes, and yeah actually getting emotionally invested in an improbable 7 run comeback from a horrible team. I like baseball. EDIT: Oh and by rough estimate about 15,000 no shows last night. And by time the 10th rolled around, there were maybe about 12,000 left in the stands.
  12. Then you must be rooting for Syracuse because they are not in the top ten....I have no idea why. Wow...no Illinois guys out there, just basketball fans, eh? You're the 3 point favorite so far. I'm here, I just don't want to be accused of being fairweather when I run into hiding for losing to [expletive] Syracuse. Who knows who is going to win this game but at least you and I can exchange pleasantries while the others are hiding for some reason will be razzed or can say nothing about this game when they come out of the shadows during the basketball season. I think I know exactly the reason why an Illinois or Syracuse football fan would be hiding right now. I really can't believe U of I is the favorite.
  13. The sad thing in all this is that Bynum's fielding is the focal point when he actually seems to have taken a smart approach to hitting over the past few games. I'm sure it's just a blip in the radar, but he's actually been working the count and using an approach you'd like to see.
  14. Corey is as black as Tiger Woods.... That's absurd.
  15. Raisin if you're still around did they show 3 idiots in the bleachers with brown bags on their head? I figure Comcast wouldn't show it, but figured there's a decent chance for the LA feed to.
  16. Awesome. Hey, SSR, F YOU!! NO ILLINIWEK LOVER F U!!
  17. I have no idea what you are trying to say. The Cubs need good pitchers. No it's not, not even close. Maybe if you are haphazardly assigning numbers it is. Rich Hill is going to have a certain level of expected production next year. Whether they sign Jason Schmidt or Steve Trachsel, that level won't change. If they get Zito and Padilla to add to Zambrano, there's no way you can label Hill the 3 starter. If Prior proves healthy all spring, there's no way you can label Hill the 4 starter. That would be because you have 4 pitchers who one would expect to be better than Hill. That would be a good thing. If you go into 2007 with only 2 pitchers expected to be better than Hill that would be bad. You don't see Hill as at least equal to Padilla for next year. I'm trying not to get too overzealous on Hill, but I think expecting him to be worse than Padilla is a little too underzealous which isn't even a word.

  19. We already had that problem in '04. It wasn't fun.
  20. I wonder who'd win a most bitter fans contest after last Saturday.
  21. Didn't Mientkiewicz like never play for the Red Sox?
  22. A serious question, they got rid of the alternating leagues get the #1 pick right? IIRC, back when Detroit had 121 losses they still only got the #2 pick over all because it was the NL's turn to get the #1 pick.
  23. Oooh boy this thread's got legs. baseball7897, how many Blue Jays games have you watched this year?
  24. Can't you let me have my fun before I drop to last?
