  1. The Marlins to me are what the Padres were to people 20 years older than me, only the Padres didn't have the unholy spawn of satan as their owner. There's no way I'm pulling for them.
  2. I'm pretty sick of reading about Hendry being a fool for counting on Prior to be healthy. Prior had a run of fluke injuries before this season, and very little else.
  3. Bear in mind, Williams made it all the way to the A's on the waiver priority list. There were a lot of pitching starved teams out there who could use a cheap alternative in Williams and passed.
  4. Except for Kenny Lofton. And Mark Grudzelaniek. And the 04 version of CPatt. And Mark Bellhorn (2002). And Eric Young (2000) And Lenny Harris(2003) Bwhahaha. In all seriousness he is about the 5th best this decade and we are in its 6th year. A real keeper. Lenny Harris only hit .111/.111/.111 out of the leadoff spot in 2003. Todd Walker hit .294/.370/.535 in 228 AB out of the leadoff spot in 2004, though. You're all missing the point! How many of those guys had no power and were FAST???
  5. I'm just glad we had a defensive catcher like Henry Blanco back there. Imagine how many WPs there woulda been that inning with that hack Barrett back there.
  6. They're tied, there is no 5th ranked team.
  7. Unless Barrett ritually beats our pitchers with fungo bats, I don't see how he's to blame for our pitching.
  8. You can if they're the defending national champs and had a no contest with a sun belt team.
  9. Really, why not? because they are Notre Dame and they won, so no voter is going to drop them I'd go so far as to guarantee that some voters will drop them. They will have less points this week than they did last week. Whether it'll be enough to drop them a spot or few is a different story.
  10. But that was a team that should have won 95 games.
  11. Come on the 9ers are just horrible. Worst team in the NFL.
  12. Currently? No. In history? No. I don't know about currently but historicly, they're Years Existed/Championships Won Ratio makes a case. It's not even the worst ratio in the National League alone.
  13. Currently? No. In history? No.
  14. I don't think so, from my painful experience the ball broke a blood vessel in the area and it bled. It's like a bruise on your skin except the blood vessels in the area are much bigger and the bleeding doesn't stop as fast. As long as things weren't detached he will be able to reproduce. BTW the ultrasound in that area is a very weird sensation. They put this viscus jell on everything and then.... well you get the picture. So there are fringe benefits?
  15. Sounds like the solution to the problem is hang out at ESPN Zone's urinals. No need for the $10 on food per hour, and no line for the bathroom.
  16. Have you met Mark May?
  17. The Orioles are pretty lame too. But yeah, we've gotta be top 3 at best.
  18. I'm hoping some of the GMs get goofy and don't offer him that much based on hustle and defense.
  19. How could he have done a lot worse? Whether Johnson hits a sac fly or strikes out there, it's completely irrelevant to the outcome of the game. In order for the A's to tie things up, somebody else has to get on base and score. In order for that 2nd run to get on base and score, the guy ahead of him on 3rd is going to be driven in. The sac fly was completely useless there, and if Johnson was trying to hit a sac fly on that AB, (Or Scutaro was trying to move the runner up to 3rd), then he(they're)'s an idiot. This was regarding the Pierre, Theriot, Ramirez hypothetical inning. The tying run was brought to the plate on Pierre's double. The "productive outs" in that inning were worthless. The point everyone else is making regarding the hypothetical is you're all assuming if the inning didn't go Double Productive out Run scoring productive out that it would go Double Unproductive out unproductive out unproductive out instead of Double unproductive out run scoring single unrproductive out walk run scoring single
  20. Yes, I am pissed. How do you allow a I-AA team to put up 17 on you??
  21. That was not the performance I was hoping for.
  22. give me a break. just admit that, as of right now, you were dead wrong about him. Oh, come on. Did you ever admit when he was sporting a 9+ ERA that you were dead wrong about him at that time? I don't think abuck's argument was ever, man Rich Hill is pitching great despite his 9+ ERA.
  23. Root against the Sox if you want to. Personally, I hope they win when they're not playing the Cubs. The success of the White Sox puts more pressure on Cubs management to improve the team. How many world serieses do they have to win before there's adequate pressure for you?
