  1. Lots of things are debated. Whether Dusty's a good manager, whether Adam Dunn is a good baseball player, whether OBP is important at the top of a lineup. The face that something is debated should tell you nothing about anything.
  2. Alex Sanchez was busted for steroids, HR totals does not = steroids.
  3. Of course he will. Not a chance in hell.
  4. RationalSoxFan is the only sox fan I can think of that posts here. Apologies if I've forgotten others.
  5. I'm up by about 3-4 games on my total score for my pick em pool. So this week, I've decided I want to blow that lead by taking Bama, GA Tech, and Colorado. I'm probably gonna look really dumb.
  6. Man I don't like rooting for Spurrier, but here I am.
  7. I'd call his 2003 great, without question. Not down in history great, but great nonetheless. As great as Zambrano last year. zambrano wasnt great last year either imo. we must have a different opinion on what "great" means. i look at some of the years pedro, maddux, clemens, johnson & sanatana have had and woods 2003 just looks like a very average year that a good pitcher would have. not a great year by any stretch imo. So by your definition, there's about 1 great pitcher per year.
  8. The splits would be skewed cause right handers hit better against lefties, which would be the only time TheRiot would be hitting right handed as a switch hitter.
  9. They still have to pitch.
  10. Normar didn't have a position to play. Different situations... Why is shifting Nomar to a corner OF position or 2B any different than shifting Wood to the bullpen?
  11. This sounds a lot like what Nomar was saying last year. And then Hendry focused on bringing Neifi back.
  12. If I'm rememberring correctly, there is no 60 day DL in the offseason. Therefore a guy who's going to be out with an injury is going to take up a 40 man roster postiion. So why(as harsh as it sounds) wouldn't the Cubs simply DFA/release Glendon to clear out spot for Rule 5. And why the hell didn't the O's do this? It was obvious Belle was just waiting for the money. Is it part of the insurance situation, whereas if he's released insurance can claim he could still capably play baseball?
  13. Figured it'd be easier to throw my picks in the actual thread. Indianapolis Colts (-9) @ New York Jets San Diego Chargers (-2.5) @ Baltimore Ravens Minnesota Vikings (+1) @ Buffalo Bills Dallas Cowboys (-9.5) @ Tennesee Titans San Francisco 49ers (+7) @ Kansas City Chiefs New Orleans Saints (+7.5) @ Carolina Panthers Arizona Cardinals (+7.5) @ Atlanta Falcons Miami Dolphins (-3.5) @ Houston Texans Detroit Lions (+5.5) @ St. Louis Rams New England Patriots (+6) @ Cincinnati Bengals Jacksonville Jaguars (-3) @ Washington Redskins Cleveland Browns (-2.5)@ Oakland Raiders Seattle Seahawks (+3.5) @ Chicago Bears Green Bay Packers (+11) @ Philadelphia Eagles
  14. After playing the way he did for the 3 seasons prior, the rumors of mental blocks and such came out following last year's season for Milwaukee. He's earned his big money, an extra 500K from the Cubs isn't going to draw him away from Miller.
  15. I don't think Cirillo is ever going to leave Milwaukee. It's where he's most comfortable.
  16. Not to hijack this to Sammy, but if anyone thinks Sosa wasn't carrying the team to the playoffs in '98 they weren't watching.
  17. Ouch! http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/rozner.asp?id=231905 The Cubs haven't been in a playoff race since '04. In September '04 while the rest of the team was collapsing Ramirez hit .326/.423/.589 I'n '03, Ramirez was having a very middling season unstil August and September came around with him on a playoff chasing team going down the stretch where he put up lines of .272/.342/.544 and .270/.324/.510(both out performing his season line) There's also the 250 /365/ .591 he put up in the playoffs. But clearly Rozner hasn't put any thought into his article so more simply said.
  18. The best part about that is the potential outbidding for Juan Pierre done by the White Sox. Bye Bye Slappy!!
  19. I like Kirk too, he knows his stuff. Seems like the only people that don't like Kirk are OSU fans who don't like that he isn't a homer. Indeed. Herbie is a first class talent. He use to get harrassed all the time by the local knuckleheads in Columbus when I lived there. I think if he wasn't an OSU alum the radio station would have fired him a long time ago. They fired his co-host in 1999 for giving "it" to one of the callers/listeners and then going off on a 5 minute tirade on what idiots/uninformed most of the listening audience was. Then shortly afterwords they hired Neanderthal Chris Speilman to do the show right before Herbie's. And its all Buckeyes all the time. Really? I knew OSU fans got upset sometimes because he isn't a blind homer, but I still would have thought he was somewhat of a hero out there. The deal about his co-host sounds pretty good though, I wish I could hear it. So many of the people who call into sports talk radio are just clueless. So many people who host sports talk radio are just clueless.
  20. Huh, I played little league with Jim Adduci. His dad used to play for the Brewers. Not a prospect though.
  21. Wonder if Indian fans gave Ozzie the same obnoxious choke signal he gave them last season.
  22. I like Kirk too, he knows his stuff. Seems like the only people that don't like Kirk are OSU fans who don't like that he isn't a homer.
  23. In addition to this, I bet the manager the Cubs hire makes at least twice as much as the manager the Marlins hire.
  24. PLAY NICHOLSON
