Other interesting names for one reason or another Mike Ryan Raul Chavez Frank Brooks Mark Quinn Matt Kata Jared Sandberg Brett Prinz Ryan Ludwick Dustan Mohr Brad Clontz Eric Munson Tike Redman Mike Gallo Carlos Hernandez Ken Harvey Dee Brown Seung Song Kurt Ainsworth Joel Hannrahan Kelly Wunsch Edgardo Alfonzo Frank Menechino Bubba Crosby Scott Strickland CJ Nitkowski Bo Hart Matt Perisho Dewon Brazelton Brandon Villafuerte Clint Nageotte Luis Rivas Al Reyes Ryan Jensen Brian Anderson Matt Riley Matt LeCroy Brandon Larson Tim Raines Jr.
  2. Wasn't the point more that close games don't necessarily equal an indictment of the team more than ND played close games and so did OSU '02 therefore ND '06 = OSU '02?
  3. So is everyone in the "Prior has no penis camp" going to give all the credit to Piniella since he has at least 3 for himself, so when Mark gets healthy, Lou probably gave up one of his?
  4. Peter must be pretty sure to just mention this so non-chalantly. Baseball will be gone in 10 years if this happens Yeah, well that's just absurd.
  5. PLAY NICHOLSON
  6. Is it anymore farfetched than ND last year. If ND would have gone undefeated the circumstances wouldnt be that much different than Rutgers this year. Except that as soon as ND won a game they were in the top 25 and once they won 2 they were in the top ten. I am sure that if ND would have gone undefeated the idea of putting Georgia or PSU in the championship game would have been an outrage. All this being said I dont think Rutgers is going to go undefeated. The base of your point about Rutgers being similar to ND of last year if both went undefeated is a little misguided, as USC '05 is much better than WV or Louisville '06. And if Rutgers beat teams that were ranked at the time in their first few games, of course they'd climb in the rankings. ND jumped up because they beat teams that were thought to be pretty good teams. They turned out to not be.
  7. You could put West Virgina in there too. My guess is they will be playing for the national championship after Michigan loses to OSU and ND beats USC. I'm sure all the ND fans will be crying about it too even though Michigan destroyed them. Regardless, no one touches OSU this year. USC is going to lose to Cal and maybe ND. If OSU loses it will be to Michigan. I certainly wouldnt put that in the win column for OSU yet. I agree that West Virginia is going to end up in the title game. I also think it is going to be well deserved even with all the SEC crying foul. How can anyone say WVU in the title game is well deserved? Look at their schedule. According to CBSsportline it is 100 of 119 DI Teams. They played no one this year. The Big East is terrible this year. Isn't the SOS based only on the games they've played so far? They still have good teams to play in Rutgers and Pitt, and a top team in Louisville.
  8. Can I just throw out that Georgia and Ole Miss are F***** dog**** teams and would struggle to win the MAC? And I can't help but mention that warpticon trumped these claims by saying the Big 12 was in the running as the best conference, when it seems to clearly be in the running as the worst of the BCSers. PAC 10 Big 10 SEC Big East Big 12 ACC
  9. I'm starting to think the Pac-10 is better than the SEC. UCLA's defense and their freshman QB really impressed me. They're not nearly as bad as Raisin has tried to make them sound all year.
  10. Maybe you should read a Bears thread before making such an assinine comment. Or should I quote every "celebrate your team winning going over the top" comment I find from last Monday? ETA: I was rooting for UCLA too, but this makes me upset... Or the ND/MSU thread. Talk about obnoxious.
  11. Perhaps you need to check out the definition for sarcastic then.
  12. Because they got killed at home against the other good team they faced. LSU has played multiple teams of that caliber, lost them both by close margins. Florida has beaten multiple teams of that caliber. Auburn beat two teams of that caliber. Who did Auburn or Florida beat of that caliber that wasn't in the SEC? 50-14.
  13. I tend to think that's pretty accurate. I think they're responsible for defensive positioning, but that's all I know. They can be in charge of defensive positioning, but I don't believe all are. I think Speier was this year, adn I believe Ron Washington was in Oakland. My view on Bench coaches is that they're like an assistant manager.
  14. I don't think 2003 was the beginning of the problem. I'm still convinced that 2004 team was the best team in baseball on paper. It was the decisions that followed '04 that was the beginniing of the end.
  15. They booed Santa Clause, that's all you need to know It wasn't that great of a movie, to be fair. What movie? That actually happened. It was a joke because the e was added on to the end of Santa Claus, which made it the movie with Tim Allen in it rather than the person. I faintly remember hearing about them booing Santa, but could someone refresh my memory on the whole story? And nice reference with Santa Clause....cant wait for the conclusion of the trilogy. You mean the "greatest holiday trilogy of all time?"
  16. Touched on earlier, full playing time/season is assumed for everyone, because really what is a projecting what Ryan O' Malley would do over 11 innings?
  17. I'd be willing to bet they'd take Jacque for Burrell straight up. They might even pitch in a little cash. Unless the Phillies have some OF prospect they're trying to make way for?
  18. I knew Burrell was being given the Abreu treatment in Philly(hated for no apparent reason), but I didn't realize his #s were that solid. He'd cost pretty much nothing to boot.
  19. What do you mean by "yeah, I know, Gary Hughes" I wouldn't want him as my GM, but he's a scout. And a damn good one at that. This is what he should be doing is scouting international players where (I believe) stats can't be translated reliably to the majors.
  20. wow. i thought we had stopped calling players "bums" when farnsworth was traded? or was that headcase? It was gutless choking dog. with no penis.
  21. Not bad, but seeing as the Marlins probably aren't forgetting what we were willing to give up for Pierre, I think they'd at least want someone like Guzman to make it a trio. imo it's going to take more than willis and eyre. imo, Willis would be enough for the Yankees. Not that I wouldn't throw in Eyre just for a little salary relief.
  22. When are we allowed to want to move on from depending on him? After 3 dissapointing seasons? 4? Torch every player with a bad season!! WUSSIES
  23. Computers supposedly eliminate the penalty for losing late. They also don't seem to like Texas, so I don't believe they'd pass OSU. The computers seem to love ND so I could them passing UM. I think it goes without saying that 11-1 ND or Texas teams would wind up ahead of 11-1 Michigan or OSU teams in the polls. Which is ridiculous. This is all pointless though, they should just award the title to the winner of the SEC title game. Then fill in spots 2-12 in the polls according to SEC standings.
  24. Completely agreed, I think the Yankees are a lot more desperate to deal A-Rod then they're letting on. I'd pick up all of his contract in any trade though. The payroll's been upped, and I'd rather pay in money in the trade than pay in talent.
  25. A-Rod when traded from the Rangers cost a recently 2 years older Soriano, and the Rangers threw in a lot of money. Since the trade A-Rod has gotten 3 years older.(i.e. the best value of his contract has passed) Additionally he is approaching a Corey Patterson like critical mass with the fans of the Yankees. They're the delusional ones. They won't come close to getting a Zambrano like talent in return.
