  1. Bags played the field. That being said, the Big Hurt was the best hitter in baseball for several years. That's mainly a function of one being on an NL and one on an AL team. Now...if you wanted to talk about Bags putting up great numbers in the Astrodome for a number of years, I'll buy that argument. Thomas was always terrible in the field and Bagwell wasn't. But yeah, both deserve to sail in.
  2. I didn't watch the game(As I doubt it was broadcast outside of Happy Valley), but are you concerend with Morelli at all after today? Or are his end numbers not indicative of how he played?
  3. Whether it worked or not, that was just an awful play call on 3rd down by KSU. And when you're under pressure about to get sacked there, TAKE THE SACK, rather than throw while being knocked down risking an incompletion and actually giving Texas a chance at a win. If he takes the sack there, that clock is gonna be at around 35 seconds when the ball gets set, you punt to Texas, and they're lucky to get 1 play off.
  4. Going back to the Arkansas jumping ND topic. If USC finishes 10-2 with their other loss to ND, isn't it kind of tough to jump Arkansas over ND, when their common game has at least a 37 point advantage to ND? With ND's being on the road and Arkansas's being at home?
  5. I'll never understand why a coach when going for the game winning FG takes the timeout with more than 3 seconds on the clock.
  6. SC just has to try and move this further. YOu don't settle for a 52 yarder.
  7. I really can't believe people are going to claim the Big 12's superiority over the Big East. Or the ACC's.
  8. Arkansas could have survived a loss before today-now can't they lose to both Tennessee and LSU, as long as they beat Miss State? That would leave them tied, and Arkansas would have the tiebreaker-but maybe its a 3 team tiebreaker thing that I've missed. I'm not sure how the 3 way tiebreaker works, but should Arkansas lose to LSU and UT, LSU wins their other 2 easy games, and Auburn beats Bama, then they'd all have 2 losses with each team 1-1 against the others. I'm thinking Arkansas splits their 2 hard games making this moot.
  9. Does anybody know of a site where you can customize your scoreboard watching? I'm almost positive it exists.(i.e., only show me the live score updates of these 15 games)
  10. Hahahaha Georgia!! You suck SEC!
  11. What were the points? I think the best one is that the Big East beat had one OOC win over a team in the top half of its conference - that being Maryland. Gosh, now I'm watching Lou Holtz on SportsCenter. I swear, his ability to speak is diminishing every passing day. How many does the Big 10/11 have? 2? Wow...that's so much more impressive. How many do the 12 teams in the SEC have? The Big 12? who knows, I don't have a research staff Tennessee beat Cal. No one from the Big 12 has done it but Lee omitted that. I just don't understand why so many people are threatened by the Big East. It's a very talented balanced conference not the best but not the worst either. I just don't understand why other conferences don't get scrutinized as much, do you know? It's all the I-AA opponents. By and large they play a schedule similar to the C-USA or the MAC and still get consideration for the NC game. I'm not sure how Louisville, WVU, or Rutgers would fare in the Big 10 or SEC. They may be middle of the pack ACC or Big 12 teams. What part of Miami and Kansas St do you think is in the the MAC....really? Those are teams Louisville played. Ohio State doesn't even have to play Wisconsin...that's a joke. Syracuse which hasn't won a Big East game in 2 years went to OT with Iowa and beat Illinois. Rutgers beat Illinois 33-0 while THE Ohio State beats them 17-10? Try looking at facts or does that scare you? I usually fall on the Big East side of these arguments, but Illinois with Tim Brasic is not equal to Illinois with Juice Williams. And Iowa happened to be without their QB when Syracuse took them to OT.
  12. Just because USC beat them in Week 1? You're arguing that Arkansas going undefeated in the SEC doesn't deserve to be ranked above a USC team that lost to an unranked Oregon St. ? You're arguing that Arkansas who lost to USC by 36 points is better than USC. People complain about the BCS not allowing things to be solved on the field, and here in an instance where it was solved on the field you want to ignore it due to an assumption that USC couldn't survive the SEC. In this hypothetical, USC would have wins over 5 top 25 teams,(A guess as to where Arkansas, Nebraska, Oregon, Notre Dame, and Cal will finish.) while Arkansas would have wins over 4 top 25 teams(Auburn, Tennesee, LSU, Florida) This SEC love is getting absurd.
  13. Yeah. It would be kinda weird for Florida to win the SEC championship title game and Auburn make the NCG because of that. I mean is it a championship game or what? Im sure people from Auburn might argue this but they are just being silly. Arkansas has 2 tough games coming up so Auburn may end up getting the chance to prove it in the title game. If Arkansas stumbles and Auburn makes it to the SEC championship game and wins it, then sub in Auburn for Florida in the scenario I laid out earlier. So what if Arkansas doesn't stumble? If Arkansas takes out Tennessee, LSU, and Florida in the championship game, what happens to them? Under the same scenario (i.e. Louisville losing), Arkansas should go to the National Title game. If Arkansas finishes the year (before a bowl) 12-1 they will have defeated Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, and likely Florida. Somehow I find it hard to imagine that happening just because of the cushion Auburn has. They have a very good shot at running the table, so it'd be tough for the Hogs to jump them. Jumping WV if they're still at one loss shouldn't be tough, and at least two out of USC/Cal/ND will likely lose again. Texas and Auburn are the teams that are tough to figure out how Arkansas would pass. With the games Arkansas has remaining (vs LSU, vs Tennessee, and vs Florida if they make the SEC championship game) if they win out I guarantee they will jump ahead of all the other one loss teams because they will have run the table in conference play in the SEC. There is no sportswriter in the country who would vote an 11-1 Auburn team over a 12-1 Arkansas team. If Arkansas runs the table, both teams will have defeated LSU and Florida, Arkansas would have defeated Tennessee and they will have defeated Auburn on the road. If Arkansas runs the table, they'll jump Auburn without a doubt. EDIT: the bolded part. I don't think there's any way a 12-1 Arkansas team jumps an 11-1 USC team. Nor should they.
  14. 4 weeks ago it was 8.

At the risk of receiving a red-faced rant from somebody, what if ND beats USC by 10+? It seems to come back to the same argument over Florida-Auburn, where ND beats USC and Arkansas loses bad to them.
  16. Bold prediction: Illinois and Villanova finish ahead of FSU in the final rankings. Seriously...FSU??
  17. Aren't felons not allowed to vote too?
  18. I hope not. Brady is piling up great numbers against turds like UNC. That shouldn't count for much. And turds like PSU :)
  19. Ok, NOW am I allowed to call Georgia a horses*** team? Or does this mean Kentucky would beat ND too?
  20. It doesnt. Its the first time i can remeber that they are not on TV. If the game isnt on ESPN(2) or ABC it will be on the local cable channel the WXSP. Not even the X can carry this game. This is the #2 team in the country people. I think a couple weeks ago an OSU game was ESPNU and lotsa people were pissed about that one too. Notre Dame's gonna have the same thing next week against Air Force, it's going to be on CSTV. I'm not sure about South Bend showing it, but I believe 1992 was the last time the Chicago area wasn't getting an ND game shown.
  21. McBride did not play in the exhibition game. I think I heard 4 games as well.
  22. Was waiting for this as soon as I saw the title.
  23. Steve Lyons thinks otherwise. The Cubs last 3 manager hires have been minorities and have had a minority dominated coaching staff for the last 4 years.
  24. So does this mean Walrond is off the 40 man? Cause that's very necessary.
  25. Not to mention the possibility that A-Rod can't play SS well anymore. I don't like defensive metrics for the most part, but they seem to universally pan A-Rod as a 3B after he started out decently there a couple years ago.
