  1. Maybe Lawrence can just root for whoever wins the world series this year. He was a Cubs fan last time I listened to the Score. I have no respect for those people.
  2. Nope, he's been pretty decent out there. He's had his share of flat out missing some catchable ones, but his range has been solid.
  3. Petition to ban people making outrageous claims about Mark Prior. by outrageous claims do you mean: claiming he is the only key to Cubs success or claiming that he will never be healthy and effective again Claiming he'll never be healthy and effective again is far more annoying. Especially when it's accompanied by macho BS about Prior's manhood. The first one doesnt' bother me much because while not the only way the Cubs can contend, a healthy Mark Prior sure goes a loooooonnnng way towards making this a good team again, whereas the "Prior is dead to me" crowd is just insane overreaction.
  4. That's why it's insane. Notre Dame straight up against MSU?
  5. Petition to ban people making outrageous claims about Mark Prior.
  6. At minus three, I REALLY like those odds. MINUS 3?? That's [expletive] insane.
  7. Mark Prior. Who's he? Who cares? Agreed! This guy couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag. Forget him and his hyped up talent! I would rather see Mateo or O'Malley take his spot in the rotation next year! HOLY ####
  8. Anyone wanna take a bet that one of the anonymous jerks was St. Jeter?
  9. So what kind of commission do you get per tape sold?
  10. Boston won 8 games in a row over good offenses Your THEORY: Good pitching always beats good hitting Therefore, Boston must have had good pitching. I think the scientific method may have a slight problem with your ways of arguing.
  11. An expression of belittlement. You call everyone on the board who disagrees with you a kid to imply that they don't know what they're talking about, they're just kids.
  12. I hope for my sake they sign Juan Pierre long term. I can't believe they'll be able to get too much for Garcia because it seems to be a terribly kept secret that he's on his way out. It seems to be banking on a lot to rely on Dye and Thome to repeat their years next year. I think I'd personally go to Baltimore with Garland for Tejada, and see what spare parts I'd need to add. Uribe was a great defender, but from what I've heard he's gone down considerably this year, and he has an OBP worse than Neifi's worst year. With regards to the OF, that's a tough call, Guillen seems to love Sweeney, but I don't think he's a starting ML OF. At least not yet. I'd prioritize SS first, then a bullpen arm, then a LF. I'm not sure what's out there for OFs, but that might be what you could get in return for the SP you trade, nothing special, maybe a Jacque Jones type.
  13. I'm not sure what you mean by long term plan, but park has been taken care of very well which is why it will still function for the foreseeable future while places like Comiskey and Tiger Stadium had to be torn down.
  14. What's the rest of the NL going to do?
  15. I didn't ask for permission, I just threw my picks in there, and they've begrudgingly agreed to post my record as long as I keep taking last place.
  16. Even though MSU has dominated them in that series for basically a decade? And the game is at MSU? I'm with Truffle, I think ND wins by about 20.
  17. Curious, Rob, what fielding stat is that? As I said, I don't really trust defensive metrics, as every one I've checked out seems to have 5 glaring WTFs on them.
  18. If he's hurt, then he collects. If he retires, then he does not. I don't know exactly how it works, but would the bereavement list work for something long term like this? Where the Cubs could essentially give Lee a year or so off if he needed it? But again, this is getting too morbid and serious for my liking, I really don't want to think about such things.
  19. I don't want to think about this on any level.
  20. The only thing Pierre has is speed. But he needs it because he doesn't get good jumps, nor take good routes. I really don't think he covers much more ground than what Jones would cover. Certainly not enough to offset the offensive difference. I hate defensive metrics, but according to Chris Dial at BTF, Pierre's been the best defensive CF in the NL this year, which since it matches my opinion of this year, I"ll reference it :)
  21. Together? No. We'd probably have to meet in person for that to happen. And that'd just be weird.
  22. I can't believe people think Jones would be equivalent to Pierre defensively in CF. I was leary of Pierre's defense coming into this season, as his rep wasn't so great, but his range has impressed me, even with his awful awful throwing arm, he's been above average as a CF. There's no way Jones becomes an above average CF.
  23. Stupid bold prediction, whatever the spread is, U of I covers against Iowa. I expect a nonsensical bounce back game, where they keep it close until late in the 4th.
