  1. The sad thing is if every player on both teams somehow got injured/suspended for the rest of the season and had to forfeit the rest of their games, the Cubs would still only be in 3rd place
  2. http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/dayton/cincinnatireds/entries/2010/08/09/before_we_dissect_the_chris.html?cxtype=feedbot
  3. It is pretty funny. And a really good move for the Reds. Plus it helps push this stupid idea that "BASEBALL IS BACK IN CINCINNATI!!!!" it's miserable. i never thought i'd prefer the cardinals winning over the reds, but here we are.
  4. except younger and cheaper, with the added bonus of 2 halfway decent pitchers. congrats2hendry
  5. blake dewitt after he was told he has to be a chicago cub http://www.ladodgertalk.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Blake-DeWittWig.jpg
  6. Jesus, that's even worse. If they traded Z for just Perez, without throwing in any money? I think I'd take that. You would trade a pitcher with an era under 4 when starting for a guy who's era has been in the 6's most of his career starting at roughly the same age? One pitches in a hitters park (Wrigley), and the other pitches in a pitchers park (New York). I realize that people want to blow the team up, but blowing the team up and gaining less productive players at the same age is not going to end well. it's not about acquiring oliver perez, it's about freeing a huge chunk of money for the next 3 years that can (hopefully) be spent to get some very productive players.
  7. i would love to trade z for ollie, straight up, and save ~$43 million. i hope omar does his part to bail hendry out of a horrible contract.
  8. they're singing go cubs go, go cubs go
  9. For real example: Bob Howry is still receiving a paycheck for some ungodly reason
  10. Yeah, being paid millions of dollars to be a major league player would suck rocks if you were a DH. He's being paid millions of dollars in any event. Being a DH would suck a lot more than not being a DH. not if you suck at fielding
  11. checkmate
  12. interesting article on everyone's favorite red head http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/sports/former-cub-murton-at-home-across-the-pacific/386458
  13. mrs. dash
  14. it's a douche move for sure. but it's also nice to see a player who genuinely hates a team speak his mind about it. adds some spice to the game.
  15. if kerry wood snubbed albert pujols at a 2003 all star game we'd all have the biggest boner ever. big ups to votto
  16. MLB makes more money and gets higher ratings the better the Yankees are. They're not going anywhere.
  17. if joe morgan ever quits, jon miller and orel herscheiser (i'm sure i spelled that wrong) would be a solid team
  18. Prior is what, 29 now? He's smart and has a ton of time to do real-life stuff. Might as well keep trying this pitching thing while he's still young
  19. jeff brantley is on the radio, not tv for the reds. chris welsh is usually the color guy, and while better than brantley, he still sucks.
  20. Yeah I don't see how anyone can be surprised at this.
  21. So, with the huge ratings this thing got, did Lebron just start a trend for all future big time free agents?
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqSLSQpLYrk ouch
  23. he's good and he's cheap. maybe in 2012 when he's up to $6.5 million we trade him. but when he's making $3 million this year and 5.5 next, i don't really see the point, unless a team blows us away with a deal, which is unlikely.
  24. [looks like brett favre so he'll unretire joke]
