    seriously? no one was expecting dempster to be any good as a starter in chicago, and he's done very well. he got 3 adequate years out of jason marquis. he got 2 serviceable years out of glendon rusch. carlos silva was literally the worst pitcher in baseball last season, and now under larry he's been very good. larry has bailed out hendry's bad moves many times. i can't see how he can be perceived as anything but an excellent pitching coach.

    what are the examples that make rudy jaramillo so great? he's left texas and texas is 3rd in the majors in runs scored. does the ballpark in arlington make rudy appear better than he is?

    aside from the 1 game i've attended in person, i doubt i've watched more than 15 innings of the cubs this season. still read the box score every day, but there is no appeal to this team whatsoever.

    honestly, a no hitter with 8 walks shouldn't get a more than a brief mention.

    if history is any indication, derrek lee will be the one traded, and jersey cubs fan will say that lee started it.

    and of course hendry has the predictable response http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=388443&src=152 apparently heavily relying on scouts doesn't produce players that perform in a pennant race either.

    i don't think the voters could resist a fact like "3rd among switch hitters in career homeruns". plus he has the all star appearances, playoff appearances, and an mvp that voters love. i'd be shocked if he didn't make it easily on the first ballot. the only holdouts would be the "i'm not putting in anyone from the steroid era" morons.

    i heard it on my way home. i don't know a lot about the blackhawks radio announcers, but it was pretty damn close to how i would envision ron santo reacting to a cubs world series. how quickly did they realize it was a goal? was there a confused delay like both tv broadcasts? pbp guy actually called it right away
