  5. he seems like a decent guy and he tries hard out there. hendry was the idiot for giving a guy with his skill set that much money. i was never mad at soriano.

  7. he wasn't even that brutal in his analysis. he said the cubs got unlucky in the playoffs and didn't blame a stupid curse, and he also went out of his way in the article to dispel the myth that cubs fans at wrigley field aren't knowledgeable.
  8. I read the first one he got called out on strikes and then laid the bat down and waited in the batter's box until he got tossed, which is hilarious. My understanding of this situation (according to statements made by Wakamatsu) is that Bradley wasn't trying to show up the ump, but rather that he thought the inning was over and was waiting for the bat boy to bring him his glove and cap. This--if true--is even more hilarious. He then proceeded to get the ball from the called 3rd strike and throw it into the RF bleachers, runners were allowed to advance 1 base. so does that count as a sacrifice?
  9. his ejections were ridiculous. overzealous umps trying to prove a point.
  10. Lamarr Houston, DT, Texas
  11. i look forward to winning the silver in all nsbb competitions again.
  12. Ok, thanks. Nomar was still the overall better player with the Reds Sox, it would appear. you also have to take into account that nomar was a huge injury risk and missed a decent amount of time because of nagging injuries.
  13. They may not have put them over the top, but they did fill holes that Boston needed to fill since defense was a major concern that year. Without those two players (and Dave Roberts), I seriously doubt Boston wins the WS in 2004. 2004 UZR/150: Nomar: -15.8 Cabrera: -2.3 2004 OPS: Nomar: .842 Cabrera: .689 Was the defensive difference between the two enough to make up for the offensive gap? I doubt it. orlando put a .785 ops as a red sox player
  14. Golden Tate, WR Notre Dame. Palmer needs another competent receiver. T.O. won't be good enough.
  15. sorry, making my pick in a second.
  16. that's right rays fans. don't get excited about evan longoria just yet, he's only had 2 major league seasons.
  17. did wgn's feed go out for anyone else or is it just me?
  18. not if i have anything to say about it. their super bowl titles should be stripped, imo
  19. THROW HIM IN JAIL
  20. if/when i ever get the chance to boo mcgwire, it won't be because of steroids. it will be because i hate him.
  21. yes. there's still hope sammy was clean baby.
  22. Of course it's appropriate. Don't be ridiculous. This specific situation is very far outside the norm though, and at its core involves issues that a) we're not privy to, and b) can't be boiled down to statistics. It doesn't fit neatly into the sabermetric box where you input OPS and WHIP and UZR and WARP and whatnot, and out comes your standard format thumbsup/thumbsdown answer. But nevertheless that's how some here have chosen to analyze it. almost all posters here realized bradley had to go. the 2 issues with the whole situation are: 1. bradley for silva is a bad, bad trade. 2. the idiot cubs fans blaming the 2009 cubs on bradley, and glossing over the fact that fontenot, soto, and soriano contributed to the 2009 cubs sucking a hell of a lot more than milton bradley did.
