  7. what a dumbass challenge
  8. lol, of course
  9. if this dude comes back and beats bama, that''ll be the sports story of the decade
  10. i feel bad for the 2nd string qb
  11. Larry Walker is a guy who people should look closely at his numbers. He had some real, real good seasons with the bat and was a great fielder. The Colorado factor may work against him. I think it did against Andres Galarraga. I didn't think Galarraga would ever sniff the Hall, but I thought he'd at least get 5% and hang around for a year or two. Walker put up a very similar career to Duke Snyder. Palmeiro would be a shoe-in first ballot, no questions asked without the roids. If you think Frank Thomas is a HoFer, you should think Bagwell is too. Basically the same rate stats, but Bagwell played his entire career as a fielder (a decent one, too) and didn't get to prolong his career as a DH and get the same accumulation stats. I don't see Brown getting much support. He's sort of like Curt Schilling without the reputation for post-season heroics. i see him like edgar martinez. he has great career slash stats but in the voters' eyes i don't think he complied enough numbers to make it in. to his advantage, he was a good defender, but that's probably canceled out by the coors effect.
  12. yes but only because of michael barrett
  13. Why not? Because it destroys the moronic argument that DH's are only part-time players? yeah ok....that's exactly why. Pitchers have one baseball skill they do well. They pitch. It's one of the three phases of baseball, and largely the most important, but it's still just one thing. Starting pitchers, now they do it all the time, and are counted on for the majority of the season. Relief pitchers, though? They're more of a part-time player than a DH in the game, even back in the 90s. Edgar Martinez was a more important piece of his team than players like Bruce Sutter and Lee Smith were in their times. Martinez was one of the 5-10 best hitters in the game during his time, and should be hall material based on that ability. Would you agree that it's easier to be a world class hitter when you don't have to focus on defense at all? so what kind of numbers do you think edgar martinez puts up if he's a full time first baseman? is he a career .305/.410/.505 hitter instead of .312/.418/.515?
  14. at least he'll almost certainly get in next year. especially since no 1st time eligible players will get in, except for maybe bagwell.
  15. it should be required that every hall of fame voter makes their ballot public. that way the people who vote for eric karros and david segui have to defend their jackassery.
  16. I think Alomar is HOF matrial, but not necessarily 1st ballot matrial. that's probably the one baseball cliche that drives me the most insane Me too. Either he's a HOF or he's not. Unless you want to make a separate wing in the HOF for "First Ballot HOFs" and put them on another level, it's stupid. and if the guy who's probably the 2nd best at his position all time isn't first ballot, then who is?

  18. Even though he was probably the 4th at best most deserving player on the ballot, I'm still happy a Cub got in.
  19. carson palmer everyone else
  20. I love Jimmy, but defense matters DID YOU SEE THE CATCH ON THE HILL IN HOUSTON
  21. The game wasn't that meaningful for the Bengals, I'd be surprised if they showed much of their gameplan last night. I agree but trying or not there's no excuse for your starting QB to go 1-11 for 0 bet yards or for your entire offense to gain the least amount of net yards in franchise history. Combine that with how poor they've been playing as of late and things aren't great in Bengal land heading into the playoffs. the bengals played pretty well against the chargers and chiefs.
  22. let's hope the bengals were just messing with the jets yesterday.
