proof the pro bowl is infinitely worse than the all-star game: there's maybe 3 posts in this thread that dealt with what was actually going on in the game itself. the rest were debating about how stupid the game is. not the same for the mlb all star game thread.

I wouldn't put too much stock in him hitting well at Wrigley historically. Much like Jeff Blauser, that was against Cub pitchers. the cubs pitching staff has been good.

Well that would just be awful. I'm not sure I agree though, primarily because I think this version of Jermaine Dye is a worse hitter than Kosuke is, and I think Lou's intelligent enough to see what an oaf he is in the field. I don't see anyway that Dye starts and Kosuke goes to the bench. If it's a straight up platoon Kosuke is going to get the vast majority, and I'm not even sure they'd start Dye against all LHP. well thankfully that debate won't be settled this season, since the cubs got nady.

If we sign Dye, I'm pretty sure Fukudome would be the bench player and Dye would get the majority of the playing time

And to be clear, I like Ernie Banks a lot and honestly don't think there's anything at all wrong with what he said. He wasn't judging anyone in his statement and there wasn't any "in my day we played clean" garbage. He's just saying that Sosa might as well admit he did steroids to save some face. I disagree that it would have any impact, but Ernie isn't being the typical whiny old-timer.
