  1. Inquiring minds want to know. :D
  2. It would have been hard to shut this thread down this morning since the board itself was down. :D
  3. Being DFA'd yesterday may certainly have affected Greenberg mentally, especially if he wasn't expecting it.
  4. Please give us Mark Cub(f)an. It would be the biggest offseason signing we could get. :D
  5. I think the problam may be resolved now. A few minutes ago (when I was logged in using the IP address in the address bar) I got booted off. However, I was then able to log back in using northsidebaseball.com rather than the IP address in the address bar. This just happened within the past five minutes.
  6. Actually, the thumbs-up is showing his approval of the re-signing of Neifi and Rusch.
  7. I didn't think of this earlier, but Yahoo actually allows two deadline settings: five minutes before the first game of the week or five minutes before each game. I had the deadline set for five minutes before the first game of the week. I've now changed it to five minutes before each game. The difference is that, if you miss an early game, you can still submit picks (you'd just be charged with an incorrect pick for the early game you missed). I realize that doesn't do much good with so little time left this year, but I'll make sure to set it that way from the beginning next year.
  8. Thanks to Vance (the only other contestant who had a realistic chance of winning) failing to submit picks this past week, I now have a 13 game lead in the College Pick'em contest with only two weeks remaining. Vic-to-ry!
  9. http://www.geocities.com/wdonald_s/pictures/santa/santas44.GIF North Pole, of course.
  10. I think Peyton clearly answered this one tonight.
  11. The result could easily be a split championship in the polls. The #1 position in the coaches poll (ESPN) automatically goes to the winner of the BCS championship game; the coaches are obligated to vote the winner #1 as part of the BCS agreement. Voters in the media poll (AP) are able to vote for who they think is the best team regardless of whether they play in the championship game or not.
  12. Thinking about it, I now realize Juan is right about choosing your draft position even if you've traded a pick. I was under a misconception before (I think mainly because this is my first full offseason in the league), but thinking of this past draft I remember that Tim chose his draft position even though he traded his first round pick to me (as part of the trade for Bobby Abreu). So sorry, Tim, I won't be choosing my draft position based on letting the rich get richer. :D (At the same time, I'm certainly not going to intentionally try to screw anybody over, either.)
  13. Dusty Baker. He'd fill his team with players like Neifi and Macias, so the rest of us would at least be assured of finishing ahead of one team in the standings. A serious suggestion: How about BigbadB? He participates in fantasy baseball. He was in one of my leagues a couple of years ago. He didn't continue with that group because of the immaturity of one of the other league members (who fortunately seems to have matured somewhat since then), but he's mentioned that he participates in multiple leagues. I don't know if a keeper league would interest him, but he seems like a possibility to me.
  14. I assumed that, if someone trades their first round pick, the person receiving the pick got to choose the draft position rather than the person trading the pick. Otherwise the system is open to abuse. For example, I'd be able to screw over most of the people I traded picks to by choosing to draft last in the first round and first in the second, with the snaking draft (since most of the picks I traded were in odd-numbered rounds). Although that would certainly help my team out, it doesn't seem right to me. I'm sure Tim was counting on having the first pick in the draft when we made our trade.
  15. I agree with your picks at both positions. Not only is the Cadillac not running smoothly, he's up against a tough Carolina defense. And with Indianapolis 7-0 and New England 4-3, plus the Colts' defense so much improved this year, I think this is the year for the Colts to break through against the Pats.

    Keepers

If only one owner failed to drop his nonkeepers, contracting doesn't make sense to me. That would leave us with an odd number of teams, which would mean one team would have no opponent every week of the season.
  17. Another way to look at it optimistically: Historically, 100% of the White Sox World Championships have been followed by the Cubs at least making the World Series the very next year. 1906, Sox win the World Series; 1907, Cubs win the World Series. 1917, Sox win the World Series; 1918, Cubs make the World Series (although they lose to the Red Sox). 2005, Sox win the World Series; 2006 :?: What an odd fact. I'll grasp at anything that gives us hope for next year. :D
  18. Once again an unexpected 49ers win has claimed many victims in the contest. Five people picked the Bucs this week. There are only five people still alive. At this rate, there may even be enough time left in the season for a third round.

  20. I remember a few years ago when a web site (perhaps Top Prospect Alert; I don't recall for sure) had a weekly prospect battle where fans voted between two choices. One week it was Honel vs. Sisco, and the voting was halted because of suspected irregularities (fans trying to rig the results by voting multiple times).
  21. Same thing. :D
  22. I think they should move to the Carolina League. :D
  23. You need to have your pictures on a hosting site on the web, not your hard drive (http://www.photobucket.com is a free hosting site used by many people on this board). Then you need to include the following in your signature: (URL%20for%20your%20picture).
  24. According to that source, Grady Little has taken a job with Milwaukee. I hadn't heard anything about that.
